Sunday Stash December 10, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

For various reasons, I did not get my OMG/Short List posted this week before the linky closed. I’m posting a shortened version here.

Project 1 (stitching): Gather & Give Thanks, pattern by Diane Arthurs of Imaginating. It’s coming along.

Project 2 (Original): The nameless tree quilt. It’s time to get back to it.

Project 3 (charity): Traffic Jam quilt, pattern by Pat Sloan. I’m sewing a block here and there while working on other projects.

Project 4 (UFO): Remember Me, a member quilt from a group I belonged to many years ...

Sunday Stash December 3, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers this week.

I have a couple things going in the sewing room. I started piecing more Traffic Jam blocks. This is block #11.

I also blocked an old needlepoint piece I made as a child. I’m sure it hung framed at my parent’s house, but I found it in a drawer with no frame. It was too distorted to try to frame it without blocking.

Both projects came from the piles on the bed of shame.

November 2023 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

My November OMG was to finish the challenge quilt, which I named Love Inspired. This was my inspiration for the quilt, just a small portion of the quilt passed to me.

And here is my finished quilt.

I had a lot of fun tucking fabric motifs in the letter collage.

I think the santa is my favorite.

September 2023 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

August was a calmer month, but we attended a lot of weekend events that took advantage of the last of summer. I finished two projects, my sister’s quilt and Words of Joy Tree.

That created spots for new things on the list.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I change things up as my goals and interests change.

Project 1 (stitching): Gather & Give Thanks, pattern by Diane Arthurs of Imaginating. I started it last night.

Project 2 (UFO): I’m quilting the next challenge, due this ...

July 2023 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

June was a productive month. I finished two stitches, Floral Butterfly and the star ornament. The ornament wasn’t on my June list.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I change things up as my goals and interests change.

Project 1 (stitching): Words of Joy Tree, pattern by Ursula Michael. I’m stitching this on red 14 count aida with DMC white, all from stash.

Project 2 (UFO): The membership quilt. The two sections are complete and ready to quilt.

Project 3 (original): The challenge due in ...

Sunday Stash May 28, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

I didn’t buy or use any fabric, but the numbers changed. Last year I bought fabrics to use in a charity quilt. I did use some of the fabric for that project, but there was more fabric than I thought. I added the extra to my stash.

I also have fabric strips I bought earlier this year I never counted. I need to get that done soon.

As a palette cleanser between projects, I sewed one traffic jam block. I’d like to get back to that quilt, but there are still four projects ahead of it. How does ...

Sunday Stash May 21, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers. Amazing, since my guild had a fabric sale yesterday. I’ve reached my storage capacity and will have to use some fabric before I buy more.

I finally resumed working on Pat Sloan’s Traffic Jam pattern. I have it going as a leader and ender project. I’d sewn quite a few pieces together that needed pressed. I think there’s enough sewn to start assembling blocks.

These pieces won’t make enough blocks for the whole quilt, but it will satisfy my curiosity as to how the blocks will look.

My Scrap Method from Quilt Paint Create

I’d love to tell you I had a great plan for using scraps and it worked out perfectly for me, but that isn’t what happened. I started using scraps a certain way and then noticed how I used them. My non-system ended up as my method, which does work for me.

When I start a quilt, I pull background and backing fabric out of stash and the rest of the fabrics for the top come from scraps. Sometimes I need to pull binding/facing from stash, sometimes not. My most recent quilt followed that formula.

Same with this ...

May 2023 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

May snuck up on me. I got up one morning and there it was, not nearly as warm as it ought to be.

I didn’t finish anything in April. As it sometimes happens, the finishes will come all at once. Good thing there are projects in the wings to prevent the mad scramble for new projects.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I change things up as my goals and interests change.

About Those Goals…. from Quilt Paint Create

We are one third of the way through the year, which is a good time to review 2023 goals.

I have 13 items on my creative goals list and to date have finished one, plus one that wasn’t on the list.

Some of the projects listed will take more time than others. I never expected to finish all 13, but it is something to work towards. I’m OK with my progress to date. Multiple quilts are started and have a good deal done. At some point those will roll into finishes.

Here is my one list finish.

And ...

Sunday Stash April 23, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week. Some fabric out to Deanna at Wedding Dress Blue for a project she does with the schools.

I finished weaving the fabric yesterday. I decided to wait to add the trims until after I cut it into smaller pieces. I had visions of the trims falling out or shifting all over.

I’m excited to get the top together. You never know whether or not these things will come out the way you envisioned it. Sometimes they are just different. Other times the Quilting Gods smile on you and it comes out better.

Sunday Stash April 16, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers. I thought I’d have a donation, but it hasn’t left the house yet.

Next week.

I pulled fabric strips and started weaving yesterday. It will look like a hot mess until it looks way cool. Good to know that will happen sometime during the process.

I have also pulled yarn, trims and decorative threads to include in the weaving. Those will go in last.

Good thing that big darning needle came in the package with the webbing fabric. It makes things a lot easier.

Stash Report March 19, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers. There were opportunities to add fabric, but I just wasn’t feeling it.

My sewing room is a hot mess because I have too many projects going at once…again. I’ve made some progress on the Membership Quilt borders.

My other two projects are piled one on top of the other next to my other sewing machine. I will not start another project until I finish two of the three I have going. Wonder how many times I will have to repeat that in the next few months before it sticks?

Border Beginnings from Quilt Paint Create

I started sewing strips for the piano key border on the Membership Quilt. I sure am grateful I didn’t have to cut all these strips!

These will be trimmed down to a more reasonable size before I start sewing them together.

The prints are so fun that these are a joy to sew.

February 2023 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

My February OMG was to finish a table runner. I bought a couple boxes of fabric at an estate sale which contained some strip sets. I added the red vertical strips (from the box) and quilted it with the serpentine stitch on my machine. It’s a perfect fit for its new home.

I’m linking to Elm Street Quilts, where you can see all the other February OMG finishes.

Sunday Stash February 5, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in or out.

I squared the pinwheel quilt and made the binding (out of fabric I bought last week). I hope to finish it this week.

I also made a runner out of strip sets and odd strips from the box I bought last week. Do you see a theme here?

It’s the perfect size for where I want to put it. It just needs quilted and bound.

Maybe the quilting gods will smile on me and I’ll finish them both before the next report.

December 2022 OMG And Short List from Quilt Paint Create

This has been the fastest year ever! Hard to believe it’s December, time to wrap up the old and think about plans for next year.

I had one finish in November, the fused challenge piece. Not much else has changed on the list.

Project One: The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. I keep plugging away. Most of what you see is part of the second release. I haven’t done any of the backstitch yet.

Project Two: The pinwheel charity quilt, to the point of sewing rows together. I decided to quilt it in two sections. We’ll see ...

November 2022 OMG And Short List from Quilt Paint Create

I have no idea what I did in the sewing room last month, but I don’t think it amounted to much. Maybe my goal for November should be to show up. Sometimes back to basics is best.

The project list repeats last month’s.

Project One: The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. All parts have been released now. There is so much stitching on this piece! My goal is Christmas 2023. I am pleased that it’s starting to look like something.

Project Two: The pinwheel charity quilt. I’m sewing setting squares to pinwheel blocks. A design opportunity ...

Sunday Stash October 30, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

The task this week is cutting -cutting blue squares for traffic jam and polka dot squares for pinwheels.

I may sprinkle some sewing in there to break things up.

Projects like this makes me wish I had one of the cutting machines.

October 2022 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

The days are shorter, the air is cooler and Fall is here. That means more time for sewing and stitching, right?

I finished two projects last month, My Sewing Treasures and a project bag. Only one new project made the October list.

Project One: The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. I had a slow start and am way behind. The pattern has more stitching than I anticipated. I’m about 1/3 through the first month but have the patterns for the first two.

Project Two: The pinwheel charity quilt. I’m framing the pinwheel blocks to get them all ...
