Autumn Jubilee Embroidery Sew Along from From My Carolina Home

Ready to have some fun with your embroidery machines? Get out a bunch of fall color rayon threads, and sew along as we are going to do a fun and quick project that can be finished in just a couple of hours. Today we’ll so some stitch outs, as you’ll want more than just one! For my first choice, I’ll be stitching out the motif on the center right of the card below, but note that I’ll change the green leaves to a fall color. I set out my threads in an egg carton with the ...

Autumn Jubilee is Coming! from From My Carolina Home

For the sixth year, I’ll be hosting Autumn Jubilee the month of October. I’ve been working on getting some great giveaway prizes, designing projects and cooking up a new recipe.

I have put all the rules and tips for entering the contests on a Rules and Notices page. See that page to be sure you understand how to enter the upcoming drawings. In past years, there have been many disqualifications for entries not meeting the requirements of the entry, so be sure you know the rules and follow them.

Autumn Jubilee patterns remain on the blog, and free ...

It’s Apple Festival Time from From My Carolina Home

It has cooled off for a few days, with gloriously crisp mornings putting me in the mood for Autumn days ahead. The Apple Festival is this weekend, with most of the festival restored after last year’s cancellations. Time for an apple recipe, a look at some of the festival fun and an apple tablescape or two! Each year for several years now, I’ve posted about a different aspect of the Apple Festival, the biggest event in our small town of the year. From 2014, I posted about the wide variety of apples offered by orchards here.

All kinds ...

Just Roll With It Embroidery from From My Carolina Home

The last time we had this embroidery on a Sunday chat, I was in the middle of the stitching. For some reason, I had a hard time getting going on it. I think the decisions on colors stymied me for a bit. Once the decisions were made, it went a bit faster.

Having a few preseason football games helped, LOL!! I did the outer ring in black, kind of like a cast iron pan. I have a lot of black and yellow in my kitchen, so it needed some.

Many readers have asked about the pattern, and it is an ...

Sunday Chat from From My Carolina Home

With the summer winding down, I usually bring out my August placemats and table topper for a new tablescape. This year I haven’t been motivated to set a nice table, other than just the basics for me and My Sweet Babboo. So, maybe you’d like to see a couple of past tables with these patchwork linens from my Colors of August sewing from a couple of years ago. The pattern is on the link, with a second link from that one to show you the finish. I also did an improv table topper with the leftovers, that you ...

Sunday Chat from From My Carolina Home

This week has just been so busy, with car club events, playing pickleball, quilt meetings and lunch with friends. It is no wonder that I have little accomplished in the sewing and crafting room for the week. On Thursday, I went to a quilt area meeting then stopped by the Quilts of Valor sew day. I picked up this fabulous top, batting and backing that I’ll quilt for them. This striking eagles panel is surrounded by pieced blocks.

I did manage to get it loaded on the longarm, and I’ll show you the quilting when it is done ...

Autumn Jubilee Embroidered Mini Quilt Finish from From My Carolina Home

Today we finish the #autumnjubilee2020 Embroidered Mini quilt.  When we left off two weeks ago, your assignment was to stitch out four designs of your choice from the available designs on your machine.

Measure your embroidered elements with a square up ruler to determine the largest size.

Then add 1-2 inches all around. Cut all your embroidered pieces all the same size.

For mine, the optimum size was 5-1/2 inches.

So I trimmed all four to that size.  Then I set them out to see what size sashing would work the best.  I auditioned a 2-inch sashing, with the ...
