New material coming! from Maria the Quilter

I know you probably come here for the photos, because, well let’s be honest: in the quilting world, words mean far less than photos. I can explain a stitch but when you see a picture of it, that’s WAY more meaningful. In person? EVEN better!

What I’m here to say is that I am here. I haven’t been posting pix – I had a bit of an issue with my tools but am almost back to full capability there. I have been busy writing on my personal blog (here).

So in the meantime, PLEASE please visit my ...

Quilt Labels from Humble Quilts

Here is my label ready to apply to my Lincoln Quilt. Diane did an awesome job quilting and I'm hoping to get binding made and on this weekend.  Some labels, I have basic info, this one will be used in my lecture, "Reruns: Quilts Inspired by the Past" so I thought I'd give a few more details.
The first time I saw a printed signature  that I fell in love with was by Lizzy on my 50th birthday signature quilt. I treasure all the blocks and the signatures, but thought I could do some labels in a different ...

1857 Album Quilt from Humble Quilts

I made quite a bit of headway at the quilt retreat on my 1857 Album Quilt. Click HERE for more info. When I got home I counted them and needed 4 more for a 6x7 layout.

These are 10" finished blocks and my little design wall isn't not big enough to hold them and my sewing room floor hardly works either.  4 of these blocks do not have the corner diamonds yet.
I like to applique the body, then trim, then add the corner diamonds.
Here are a few views!

I'm pretty sure when all blocks are complete ...

Fickle Friday from Humble Quilts

A little of this and that today-
***For some unknown reason I stopped receiving comments in my email on Monday. I really thought nobody liked the French General little quilt! LOL Which would have been completely okay. I quilt for myself and what I like. But I was happy to see there were comments on that post! I  think Google did some updating, and once I went to settings, email, and added my email address to comment notification email and confirmed the email, I was back in business! If you have noticed the same thing, that's how it can ...

Round Robin Germany 2018 - Meine Blöcke from Quiltmanufaktur

Quilt Projects Moving Forward from Humble Quilts

My stars in a time warp quilt. Barbara Brackman did this as a sewalong, learning about fabric and styles in 2015.  I've never been known to be a fast quilter!! LOL  It's been basted for awhile and I finished marking it one direction last night.

I'm going to do a simple cross hatch. I have it marked one way, and when it is quilted I will remove the basting and mark it going the other direction. I told my friend last night I'll try and get it completed in 2 marathon machine quilting sessions.

I've ...

Quilty Sleuthing from Life in the Scrapatch

This quilt was made by Lori Q Alison
(tag added by me to credit her work)

It started with this beautiful, then mystery quilt,

I tracked this lovely quilt to Lori Q Alison's Facebook Photos

Then @cocoaquilts found and posted this original quilt
by Tina Lewis called "Modern Spools"

The thread trail led to

The  search was still on for the pattern.

I knew I has seen this quilt somewhere and my curiosity
and quilt sleuthing skills were off and running.

I found the original pattern ...

Friday Fun- String Quilts and Book Winner! from Humble Quilts

Here we are mid- month. How are you coming on your string blocks for this month?

A friend gave me these several months ago and when I asked her what her plan was she said it was a Bonnie Hunter pattern on her blog. Well, I don't know if this was her plan, but I'm going to make the basketweave quilt. You can see Bonnie's HERE.
I drew it up in Electric Quilt and made my plan.  I need 10 a month to have what I need by October, but she gave me 72 blocks and all ...

social media slump from Charm About You

Charm About You Lucy Brennan instagram

I am feeling pretty fed up with instagram and social media generally. Sure it can be really fun and there's a fabulous supportive community of quilters but the fast pace and option of just hitting like ❤ isn't cutting it for me anymore. There are so many photos, so many great accounts and just so much to see. I don't feel as much joy though. Too much of a good thing?

planning party from Charm About You

charm about you, lucy brennan, quilt making

I like writing lists. I write them a lot, about all sorts of things! It's become essential for me, lists give me focus and direction. I'm joining Quilting Jetgirl for the #2019planningparty and in this post I am outlining a list of plans for 2019. I'm trying to stay realistic with a hint of optimism, bringing back some much loved projects and joyful sewing. This is what I want to do...

Year of Colour 2018 from Goer

Yesterday I shared my Top Nine from Instagram. Another fun IG activity this time of year is Year of Colour. It's a web app for creating a graphic representation of the colors using throughout all IG posts in 2018. You can also get a report of the last month, last year, or custom period of your choice.

Once the initial report is generated, you can change the settings on the data to emphasize saturated colors, emphasize brighter colors, reload with a color of your choice in the center, order colors by time, rainbow mode, or play through which is ...

Quilts! Donations! Supplies! Oh mY! from Humble Quilts

It has been awesome!
Yesterday a long time friend donated a large box of new shirts from their embroidery business! They are mostly mens, but a great variety.  I hadn't planned on bringing clothing more than coats, but like my friend who lost everything, say yes to everyone's generosity, so I did!

I spent the afternoon organizing them by size so it would be easier to give away what was needed.

Also, I want to tell you a funny story. Several years ago my brother asked me for a quilt for his condo in Seattle. So I gave ...

Beyond the Cherry Tree Update from Humble Quilts

This is a big quilt that I've been handquilting for about 5 years now. Gay at Sentimental Stitches offered it as a free BOM. (follow her blog! She hosts amazing BOM's! and offers sales frequently) She copied the pattern from a quilt she purchased. I still love this so much! I wish I wasn't such a slow quilter. I brought it out as soon as our summer weather broke. Someone mentioned on Instagram they'd like to get a better look, so here ya go.

This quilt is about 100" square.
The original quilt had wonderful motifs ...

Fabric on Friday! from Humble Quilts

I knew I had better get busy on my garment for Houston.
I need to learn to choose patterns that can use quilting cotton, but I had it so I started in. My plan was to have the larger print on top like the pattern, but I used the wrong pattern piece! So I wasn't sure what to do next so I sent a photo off to Sunny (Gone to the Beach blog) and my daughter for help.

Sunny gave me the courage to cut off the sleeve and use this berry fabric instead of the stripe.
The next ...

Finally on a Friday from Humble Quilts

I'm so glad to be back to posting, hopefully on a normal schedule again.
I  suggested you try and get your 2 parts of the Liberty quilt together. I took my own advice!

It isn't the best photo, but the bottom row is all that's left! Whoop! Whoop! Next Friday we will have a linky party and see how everyone is doing. Monday October 1st will be the final instructions!! Cheri would be so proud of your creativity!

I won this cute panel to make a fall/halloween banner from Quilters Coop. I haven't had a ...

100 days of fun with hexies from Quilting & Learning

I am participating in the 100 hexies in 100 days event (#100hexies100days2018) which began August 6, 2018. It's hosted by Sew Foxy Mama (sewfoxymama) and takes place on Instagram. I'm new at Instragram. Events like this are a lot of fun because I can just go to the event tag and look at everyone's posts.

Each week has a different theme. The hexies can be made with fabric following the theme, or the images can be shot in surroundings that illustrate the theme. It's been so much fun seeing all of the yummy fabric and great ...

Fun on A Friday from Humble Quilts

Perhaps you are reading this in the early morning, I should be finishing my 2nd leg of the relay. That leg should start about 2 or 3AM Friday morning. Now that I'm preparing and packing I've been questioning my sanity!! LOL

A couple of weeks ago an acquaintance of Kevin,  Ruth,  sent him a box of scraps. He called me and told me he had found these reversible girls dresses in the box and wanted to send them to me for my mission trip!

He told Ruth about it and she sent me dresses too!

 They are reversible ...

Sweet Land of Liberty Month 8 from Humble Quilts

So many times I wish Cheri could see our unique Liberty quilts! You guys are really up to the challenge. Ready for month 8? Let's go!
This month there is more piecing and less applique.

I have my letters ready to add somewhere. My red on the liberty angel was too dark and you really couldn't see the word freedom, so I'll add that somewhere down the line. So you know what the approx size should be they are supposed to fit on the angel's dress shown below. The dress is 7 1/2" finished.
 The ...
