WHY DO YOU QUILT? from That's Sew Kerry

A Question Often Asked

I've had this post rattling around in my head for a while, something has always stopped me writing it, I'm not sure what really but now in the midst of 'isewlation' due to this horrid Coronavirus outbreak it seems like a good time to finally get it out. For those of you that have read the dreaded 'C' word and immediately got put off - it is the only time it appears here.

What on earth are you doing? What's the point in cutting up perfectly good pieces of fabric into smaller ...

6 Köpfe 12 Blöcke Skill Builder from Quiltmanufaktur

Improv triangle sew along from Ellyn's Place

Ever since I received  Nicholas Ball's book, Inspiring Improv, for Christmas I've been intrigued with his techniques. So when he announced his improv triangle sew along on Instagram, I was gently nudged by friends and decided to join in. With Quiltcon smack dab in the middle of the sew along and other commitments I had made, I decided to join on a small level. To start, I made 30 triangle units to assemble into a mini quilt.
I made these all from my scrap bins, using solids and prints that read solid in pinks and aquas.

By the ...

Viktig melding! from Iinas Sewing Machine Poetry

Solid Seven catchup from Ellyn's Place

I haven't updated you on the antics of the Solid Seven Bee in a while. We've been busy bees as usual, making pretty solid blocks for each other. A couple of months ago, EA gave us a pretty color palette and asked us to make "our favorite blocks". Her finished quilt promises to be interesting! Here are the blocks I made......
a woven block
an x & + block
and an arrow
Linda wanted a bit of sunshine in her winter so she requested these awesome blocks....
And then Jessica asked us to make these blocks in blues, teals, greens ...

Upcoming on Humble Quilts from Humble Quilts

We will be working on the Anniversary Quilt by Brannock/Patek, we just will not be starting in January. I've been keeping my eyes open for a reasonably priced book and when I come across one I announce it on my facebook group. Is anybody still looking for a book?

Here is my one block primitive whig rose made eons ago from this book.

Here is what we will be making. You can always start gathering fabric or trace patterns in preparation.

Fundraiser book sale February 1st! I'll be going to Dominican Republic on a mission trip in ...

Symaskinpoesi i sosiale medier - noen små forandringer from Iinas Sewing Machine Poetry

top nine / one quilt from Charm About You

The year of colour site is an interesting tool that assesses the dominant colours used in your instagram photos. You can play with the sliders to adjust the pixels and brightness etc. and it's cool to see which colours it picks out. I have seen a lot of them pop up on other peoples feeds and they are all so different. Mine was a bit of a surprise, I know I've used brown a lot but I did think they'd be more pink and less blue. I guess it doesn't feel completely 'me' but then as ...

Top 9 of the 2019 Quilting Instagram from Sewing Under the Little Mushroom Cap

I ran the top 2019 over here for my quilting Instagram feed and though I have been a little quiet there as compares to the blog and the newsletters, I think Instagram did catch some of my best make in the year of 2019.

New material coming! from Maria the Quilter

I know you probably come here for the photos, because, well let’s be honest: in the quilting world, words mean far less than photos. I can explain a stitch but when you see a picture of it, that’s WAY more meaningful. In person? EVEN better!

What I’m here to say is that I am here. I haven’t been posting pix – I had a bit of an issue with my tools but am almost back to full capability there. I have been busy writing on my personal blog (here).

So in the meantime, PLEASE please visit my ...

About Swaps from My Stitches-Shilpa

This year i haven't had a lot of chance to get together with my sewing machine. Various personal reasons apart...the only thing that is keeping the needle in my hand these days are swaps. The mini quilt swaps mean i could easily juggle my other priorities with sewing. I began with the Home Sweet home Mini swap for which i made an embroidered mini quilt for my partner.

My mini quilt with all the goodies that i sent my partner!

The ease of the project along with the creativity encouraged me so much that i signed up for ...

ORGANIC FLORA - An Adults Coloring Book by Seraphym Art from Seraphym

So I've been a little pre-occupied lately with all this Drawing, Sewing, and Wedding planning. It's been crazy! Plus it's school holidays so I'm trying to get all the creative time I can in now before it's back to the paperwork of Doom!!! Duh Duh Duh.

If you play along on Instagram, I've been busy drawing up my new Colouring Book, Organic Flora. I'm now happy to announce that I have finished the book and it's available now on Etsy in both digital and hard copy formats :)

To celebrate the occasion, I ...
