What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Hello everyone!!

I’m very excited to finally show you our next Block of the Month, “My Hometown“.

We had originally planned this BOM for 2020, but decided after things got “crazy” in the spring that we would postpone this event until 2021 and do some smaller projects instead (the Silver Linings Sew Along and the FaLaLa Sew Along). Even though there is still plenty of “craziness” going on in the world, I think the time is right to start looking forward to our 2021 Block of the Month!

Today, October 10, is “World Mental Health Day” – a day that is designed to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world.  This year more than ever it seems that many of us are dealing with mental health issues – and while for some of us these issues may be “minor”, they can still rob us of happiness and result in stress, lost productivity, and physical health issues.

Where I live we get an east wind phenomenon and this event produced hurricane-force winds up to 100 mph. We were out of power for two days.

UQSM is a huge machine quilting show that is held in Salt Lake City, only 10 miles from my house. Of course, it has been cancelled this year. (Read last year’s post.)

I sat there with sweaty palms, my heart beating quickly and I wondered if they would like me. Would they like my work? Would I have enough to show? It was my first trunk show, and it was circa 2008 after my first book was published. I was presenting to a local long-arm group, and I was nervous!

We, as quilters, love our quilt shows! And now they’ve all been cancelled. So sad! I thought maybe you would enjoy a virtual trunk show of my quilts. I’ll be calling it the Great Covid Trunk ...
