Lots of Sewing from Cat Patches

We got through our grocery shopping trip without too much trouble yesterday. I'll never forgive my grocery store...one of those mega marts...for moving the cat food to the far end of the store. It's their way of forcing pet owners to walk through the whole store, presumably picking up non-list items along the way, before they can finish their grocery shopping. Walmart does this too, and that's only one reason I dislike Walmart. Anyway...we didn't need cat food yesterday, and so our mileage was less. And this begs the question...why move the ...

Obsessive Sewing from Cat Patches

When I wrote yesterday, "if the day goes as expected," I should have known better. It was the death knell for the day to go as expected. As I published my post, I noticed something unusual on the blog. There was a Photobucket logo on a few of my images. It's a long story about this, but let's just say I didn't feel like paying yet another monthly fee to yet another online service that had been free in the past. Instead, I downloaded any photos from Photobucket onto my hard drive, and then waited to see ...

A Little More Progress from ... Cat Patches

If the day goes as I think it will today, I should have the Waste Not Whatnots quilt top finished. I'll say one thing about it: it's given me a good reason to procrastinate on vacuuming the downstairs. It is dropping lots of black threads everywhere on the light carpeting. Yesterday, I had good intentions of dusting and vacuuming the downstairs, but then realized I'd be wasting time. Yeah, sure. That's what I thought. You probably thought the same thing, and you just didn't mention it.

So here's how the day went yesterday. Here ...

A Little Progress from Cat Patches

It was a nice sunny day for most of the day yesterday, but breezy and cold. Smitty and Sadie dearly wanted to be outside, but their winter coats aren't thick enough yet to stand up to the cold. They were in-and-out cats for a couple of hours before we called a halt and shut the door for the day.

The bowl on my embroidery piece is stitched now, and I've made my way to the flags. In this election season, it makes me feel downright patriotic.

As I said yesterday, now that the bowl is stitched, I can ...

Busy Bee from ... Cat Patches

We're winding down to the last day before we take off on a short camping trip to the beach. Originally, we were making this trip to have dinner at a restaurant we like in Cannon Beach, called EVOO. We made the reservations when things were looking up, virus-wise. Then we got nervous about indoor venues and canceled our reservations. No matter. No reason not to make the trip anyway. Camping is naturally socially distant, and we were able to get a reservation at one of the Oregon state parks. So we're going.

And that brings me to the ...

The Food and Nothing but the Food from ... Cat Patches

Mike and I restarted the Cooking Light Diet this week. We never really went off, but it's much harder to be faithful when we're traveling. This week's shopping trip left me no wiggle room, and so we're sticking to the menus as they come up. This morning, I tried this new dish. This is called Bacon-Powered Sweet Potato Veggie Skillet. I served it up with a fried egg over the top. It was supposed to have some feta cheese sprinkled over, but I forgot all about that...as is my way.

Have you ever noticed how ...

Bits and Pieces from Quilting Lines

A bookstore is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking.

Jerry Seinfeld

No, I haven't fallen off the side of the earth.  I'm still around and hopefully I'll be making my presence know a little more often here.  When I got back from Texas I began seeing a nutritionist to try and get some help with a few chronic health issues that have been causing me to have very little energy and other problems.  After 2 months on my new diet I am beginning to feel better and have a ...
