I've always wanted to ...
Hello all. How are you doing with our new reality? I'm just sitting here, writing this while refreshing my grocery order in hopes of getting a pickup time slot. Good times.
Plenty of allergies are building up here, but no nasty viruses yet, thank goodness. I am truly not doing too well with this whole thing, and I'm trying to be upbeat and optimistic, but folks, I'm struggling. I know some of you are, too. It's a very challenging time for everyone, and trying to keep it all together is getting to me. Even stitching isn ...
For our group mystery project this year, my local guild, the Pecan Valley Quilt Guild, did the Brown Bag Special, a 4-part program I designed a lot of years ago.
Our group has done this before, but we have a lot of new members, and since the results come out differently every time, AND there are two versions of the program, they wanted to do it again, so we did.
We had 16 participants sign up, and 8 of us showed up at the reveal with finished projects!
Here we are with our projects, in no particular order . . .
Janet:
Donna ...

It’s very hard for me to believe that January has already come and gone! Time flies! The only variable in our 2020 challenges will be the color change and they were posted here. I’ll always post the current month’s color on the first of that month but for those who like to plan ahead, the...

read moreMy January gift giving challenge is done. As I mentioned, Chad has new neighbors and it’s the parents of one of Chad’s friends. They moved in just before New Year’s so we gave them a couple of days and I made the Eggplant Ziti, salad and bread. And, I’ve already received a thank you note...

read moreI’ve decided on a yarn but not a pattern yet. This is Harrisville’s Highland Worsted. I’ll either make mittens or a hat. I was thinking I could make the same hat or mitten pattern each month and have a rainbow of hats or mittens. Has anyone else decided what to do for the color challenge?

read moreWow! You guys worked hard this time! I can’t even imagine how much paper got recycled among us in the last few days!
I cleaned out one file drawer, started on the second one (I only have 3 altogether), and then went to work on the piles that are already out. Because one of my file drawers was clean, I was able to file a bunch of stuff that belonged in there, so that helped. Let me just say I still have a long way to go, but due to some customer deadlines, I have not yet had as ...
read moreWell, yesterday was one of those days. I found every possible way to procrastinate (such as these), and never even stepped foot into my sewing room. But in my defense, I do have some tight January longarm deadlines, so I spent my time running the longarm, and even tho I wanted to, I did not take a nap. Besides, I have until January 4th to corral my projects!
Today is the last day of the decade — woohoo! And it’s time for our third and final Final Countdown Task. Today we are going to look ahead . . . and:
Make some quilting ...
read moreYikes! I cleaned out a file drawer, started on another one, went through a pile of magazines, gathered all the paperwork I need to send to my accountant, sorted through a box of old patterns and passed the ones I didn’t want on to a friend, and found a place for the ones I want to keep — and let me just say: I. Have. So. Much. Further. To go. Uff!
I LOVE all the comments you’ve been leaving. So many of you already have a system, and that’s the point I’m trying to get to. Soon ...
read moreI haven’t linked this in awhile, and it’s good for a laugh (the hair!), so go give this a listen to help get you in the mood for our Final Countdown! You’d think after eleven years of doing this, I wouldn’t need to do it any more, but alas, such is not the case. We’ll see what it’s like when I’m fixin’ to host the 20th annual!
And I meant to have this posted earlier in the day, but evidently, the cats had their New Year’s Eve party early, and I had ...
read moreWell! That flew by, didn’t it? Another year — gone in a flash. We’re at the threshold of a new decade even, so that means it’s time to count down the final few days of 2019.
I feel like I made better progress this past year than I did the year before, but how is it that I still feel I have so far to go? I need this challenge as much as (or maybe more than) any of you!
I have things I wanted to get done last year that are in the exact same state they ...
