Summer Flowers Happy Mail from From My Carolina Home

Now more than ever, it is so important to find ways to bring happiness into our own lives and those of others.  Sending and receiving happy mail is one way to feel connected, even when we are apart.  Keeping up with friends both online and in real life is essential now.  Stamping is a fun activity for me, but you know, any happy mail is a joy to receive.  Add in a Summer Flowers challenge at the Impression Obsession blog, and I’m in.

Other Projects Card Making from mequilter

Some other things I have been doing is making cards. I wanted to give my cousins in England some homemade cards for thanking them for letting us visit with them. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip because of the coronavirus. Not happy about it but it is the best thing to do.

This does give me more time for making these little treats. Especially since I was behind in my original goal. Maybe if I made simpler cards it would go faster. But that isn't my style.

I love this quilt design like die, with 4 colors I ...

Happy Mail from From My Carolina Home

Last month, I decided to send out a few Happy Mail cards and packages to friends and family for the Easter holiday.  Then a few days ago, happy mail arrived for me!  What a fun and welcome surprise.   My friend, Val, found a quilt kit she thought I might like, complete with all the fabrics needed in just the colors I enjoy.  The huge paper pattern shows placement of the appliques, which will be raw edge fusible.

A closer look, the pattern is on the left, pretty flowers and a birdhouse with two birds.  It looks like a fun project ...

Card Making from mequilter

As you know I do other things besides quilting and cross-stitching.
I made some Easter cards in the shape of a basket.

This looking down on the basket.

This is looking straight at the front of the card.

I made the purple in two different shades.
Here is the dark purple.

I made this same card for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day. My next version will be for Mother's Day. I think. I can also see it in Red, White, and Blue for the 4th of July. I don't usually make cards for the 4th but I ...

Counting Blessings, and Safelight Winners from From My Carolina Home

Strong storms roared through our area on Sunday night, with driving rain, thunder and lightening.   The winds were howling up the coves on both sides of our home for some time, and the noise was frightening.  The next day brought the damage to light.  We were counting our blessings that we only lost two trees, and neither of them hit the house.  One branch broke off and lodged itself high in an adjacent tree.  This branch will just have to come down on its own as it is about 50 ft off the ground.

Sending Happy Mail from From My Carolina Home

In this age of internet everything, and the current situation making us even more dependent on it, what could be a nice surprise?  Happy mail delivered to your door!  Happy mail can obviously be a homemade card, but there are lots of other ideas as well that I’d like to share today.  Anything sent by mail can qualify as Happy Mail.  Perhaps a quilt pattern sent to a friend, or an article from a magazine.  My mother in law used to send me articles from her magazines as she subscribed to different ones than I did.  A pretty garden ...

Making Cards Again from mequilter

My Cousin and I are going to England in June to visit our 2nd Cousins. We are descendants of the same Great Grandparents.
Since we will be staying with some of them, I decided to make cards for them to use as a thank you for letting us stay with them.

Here are the first two batches I made. I made half of them when my scrapbooking group was here. The cards are blank inside for them to write their own messages inside.
I better not see any of these sent back to me.

Valentine Day Cards from mequilter

So the other project that kept me from making more progress on the Christmas stocking was Valentine Day cards.
I didn't make a lot just some for some very special people.

First I made a basket card and since I had to mail this one it was finished first and sent off.

They do fold flat to mail.

Here are the other three baskets I made. One each for my girls and one for a friend.

Of Course, I made one for my hubby.
I made a different card for Richard.  This is the front of his card.

Thanksgiving Day Cards I made from mequilter

Prior to Thanksgiving, I made some Thanksgiving day cards for some of my closest friends and family members. I made 11 in total.
The most complicated but fun card I made was a stand-alone basket designed by Karen Burniston. She is a very creative designer and has an engineering background so many of her card designs have moving part. In October I made this basket for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It is a very versatile design. I have a Valentine's card design in the back of my mind.

My Thanksgiving Baskets.

My Halloween Basket.

My second card was also ...
