Tracy Mooney and I have longed to work together again since our Generation Q(uilt) Magazine ended. And we have, as I’ve designed quilts for publications she’s edited. About a year ago we started talking seriously about having our own podcast and inviting friends to join us. And so, here we go. Click HERE. There are… Continue reading A Podcast, A Class and an Update
read moreLast year, or at least it feels like it, in 2015, I made some Elephant Parade blocks. Then other quilts pushed to the front of the line. So when Joan and Carol announced that the theme for the August blog hop was It's a Jungle, I was eager to join so that I can make more progress on my Elephant Parade quilt. Hopefully if you squint and bend the rules, you might be able to fit it into a jungle theme.
It is a fun quilt and I really would like to turn this into a finished quilt.

Since my YouTube channel is called Quilt and Color, I decided to work on better branding and use the same name for my blog. Changing the name on the banner would work, but it would be better if the name of the blog is called Quilt and Color,
I am going to start posting on that channel from now on. This means that my blog hop post will be posted on that channel tomorrow. I hope you will join me over there tomorrow.
Our next blog hop is hosted by Carol Swift from Just Let Me Quilt.
I was in the mood for a nice summer quilt and when I was looking at inspiration for my bird quilt, I saw a quilt that had a little bird near water, so I decided to make a beach scene.
I pieced the background, added a strip for the waves. Then I added the birds and the picnic.
I used my usual method of sandwiching first and then securing the applique with quilting stitches.
I quilted some waves in the water.
As per my usual M.O. , I finished this quilt late at night so these photos are taken with ...

When Carol announced that the theme for this month's blog hop is transportation, I was really excited because I have a trip around the world quilt that is waiting for applique. My plan is to add a train, a plane, a car, a covered wagon, and other applique around the border of the quilt. But I had to decide which direction all these motifs should go.
This picture does no show the wide border.
I made a quilt for the April Showers blog hop. A list of all of the participants are in my last blog hop. Be sure to look at them after you are done admiring my quilt.
I ran out of time making this quilt so I didn't finish it, but it wasn't from lack of effort. I even made it during my lunch and ... read more

It's time for the annual Dust Off An Old Quilt Book Blog Hop! I have been participating the last few years and have always enjoyed it.
I have been participating the last few years and have always enjoyed it.
For this hop, I dusted off my Red & White Quilts Infinite Variety book. The book features all the red and white quilts that had been in an exhibit at a museum. I had seen the quilt on the cover before the exhibit and the book and had already been fascinated by it.
Back in October, I posted a video on my YouTube channel where I showed the African Ankara fabric I had just bought. When I folded them into bolts and got them ready to take upstairs, one of the bolts wound up sitting next to another fabric I wanted to take upstairs.
I really liked the combination of the Ankara fabric and the pink fabric and thought that the combination would look good in a quilt.
But I was about to start my daily videos with the 15 Minutes to Quilt challenge where I ...

Paul: Yes.
Me: Now meet Dashing Doors!
Dashing Doors is my response to the Island Batik's Log Cabin Challenge and Blog Hop that begins today. My pun on Door Dash got a huge eye roll from Paul :-)
I received a half-yard bundle of Breezy Collection. Purples, Greens, Coral and Pink make this a lovely collection.
An original collection by Kate Colleran Designs, Breezy is a bright collection with a beautiful gradation of values and I wanted to show off that aspect of the collection.

Way back in 2022 Gailen Runge and I had a long chat on Quilted Features about a whole lot of things, psanky eggs, Sew Emoji. Our first official meeting was at Quilt Market in Houston while working with Generation Q Magazine, I got to make a speedy delivery for Jake Finch. One of my favorite things… Continue reading The Book Report: Blog Style

It's my day for the Just Let Me Quilt blog hop challenge. The theme for the week is White Rabbit.
It is a perfect theme, because I was just gifted a pair of embroidered white pants. I had seen a couple of quilts that were animal shapes that were cut out of some embroidered work with batting inside them. I thought about doing just that and having a quilt that was not a rectangle, but I still had house on my mind and wanted to make sure ...
