Almont, Colorado from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! It's so good to see you this morning! I was sure we'd be without internet here, but there's a brand spanking new cell tower right on site, and the cell signal is banging in! If you thought you were going to get a break from my compulsive prattle, you're going to be disappointed.

The kitties were chill as always when we took off yesterday morning. Smitty rode the side slide in. (We call that "surfing the slide.") Sadie was in her cubby.

It was around 70 miles to the state line. Soon ...

Vernal, Utah from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm happy to say we still have internet access here in Vernal. We're practically right on the main highway, and so it isn't surprising. It's also fairly noisy. Oh well. It was quiet enough for a good night's sleep.

We drove through three states yesterday. As you can see, Sadie was completely stressed out at the thought of another day of driving. Actually, I think she was hoping we'd get going so she could get her morning nap.

As I mentioned, the RV park delivered our breakfast yesterday. It was ...

May 2023 from Ravelly1

 Warning: Loads of photos!!

Hi everyone! Well, it's been a very long time since I've posted. Good grief, where did the time go?!

I've been quite busy doing all sort of things. I'll do a show and tell to show what's been going on in my life.

First, I'm sure you all have seen this quilt. I entered it in our local county fair. It won best of show and then went to the Houston Stock Show. And now it's on the way to the Houston Quilt Show this November. I couldn't ...

A Walk on the Wild Side from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a beautiful day here yesterday. If you've read yesterday's post, you might remember that we were trying to decide whether to get out for a walk in the afternoon. The morning weather was foggy and chilly, and it didn't look promising. Nevertheless, we went early to do our grocery shopping. We were home and had everything put away before 10:00 a.m.

The weather was still iffy for an enjoyable walk in the sunshine. I went to work on my slow-stitching. Leaving so early, I'd skipped it for the ...

Sewing Structures from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and Happy Thursday. Smitty is happy to see a lot less snow and more grass from his living room perch. Can morning sunbaths be far behind? With the time change, we've been eating dinner in daylight, and the light late in the day has been a welcome sight.

With such nice weather I got out for a walk yesterday. I decided to walk at the bottom of our hill. I'm looking forward to seeing what the farmers will plant in their fields this year.

Sew Frustrating from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Welcome to a new week. How bad can it be with Pi Day tomorrow? I have in mind to make a Dutch Apple Pie for Two, but I could change my mind between now and then.

For now, I'm busying myself trying out a new recipe for Orange Rolls. They can be made two days ahead, and then baked off when you're ready. I made the rolls first thing yesterday morning...well...maybe not the first thing, but close. When they went into the refrigerator, they looked like this:

One Day, One Block from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a chilly day here at the Three Cats Ranch. It's currently 26°F. We might have received a little dusting of snow last night, but the wind is blowing so hard, it probably all blew away. We're expecting cold and sunny days ahead...my favorite winter weather.

Friday was spent embroidering the names and places of quilt shops for the Shop Hop blocks. Yesterday, I was able to get back to the Sewing Day stitchery. I'm trying to finish this off before the "Stitched Inchies" (my name for it) start on ...

Courageous Quilting from Cat Patches

Welcome to Wednesday, my friends! It's a pedicure day for me. And, miracle of miracles, I see blue sky and sunshine! We're expecting rain pretty much every day into the foreseeable future, and so I'm surprised to see so much light this morning. It's a nice change from the past several weeks.

Yesterday morning, I spent about twice as long as usual on my slow-stitching. I wanted to stitch up enough leaves to move my hoop to a more interesting spot. All leaves and all green all the time makes for some boring stitching.

Best of 2022 from ... Cat Patches

Today begins one of my favorite linky parties of the year. My thanks go to Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs for hosting this party for the past eight years. Thanks, Cheryl!

It's been a good year, all-in-all. We had a plumbing catastrophe discovered at the beginning of April, and that threw a monkey wrench into most everything that came after. The repairs are nearly finished now, with just a few cosmetic items to finish up. Nevertheless, it was a year of frustration with delay after delay after delay and an unprecedented level of unreliability and deception. We're ...

Welcome to Winter! from ... Cat Patches

Happy shortest-day-of-the-year, my friends! We're looking at cold temps and sunshine today before a big winter storm blows all of us out of the frozen water. Looking at the forecast, it looks as if we'll miss the worst of it. Nevertheless, the storm has freezing rain in store for us, if the weatherman can be believed. I'm just hoping it doesn't put the kibosh on our family get-together Christmas Eve. I'm on tap to make two desserts in the next couple of days, and wouldn't it be just terrible if Mike and I had ...

Big Quilt, Little Quilt from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. My kids had a book when they were little. I'm sure we read it at least five zillion times. It was about two dogs: Fred and Ted. Ted was a tall, slim dog. Fred was short and, um, portly. The story was about their different needs, based on their sizes. It became a family joke, this "Fred and Ted" business. Mike started calling me to make the bed by saying, "Oh, Fred! It's time to make the bed, Fred!" Then I'd shout back, "Okay, Ted!" We still call one another Fred and Ted ...
