Saturday, Sunday and Monday were glorious days that showcased perfect October weather. The sun shone all day and warmed the earth. It was pleasant enough to sit on the veranda and stitch.
I've started my decorating for Halloween. LOL Need to add deep dusting to my chore list! Though I am peculiar in that I do abide the odd spider here and there in this house.
I woke up this morning with deep thoughts but they have become shallower as the morning moves on. :D My early morning walk in almost darkness and light rain helped. Making a few notes in a journal helped. Ned wanting to play tug also helped and good for my weak hand grip too I'm thinking.
Writing this post will definitely brighten my mood. For starters I'm sharing this enjoyable book below. I saw it on one of your blogs, very sorry I've forgotten who, and knew I needed it. Wonderful words and neat illustrations. I plan to ...

I'm soldiering away quilting Plaid Tilda. It is going smoothly so far with the handling of the size of it and I haven't hit any lumps or tucks. It's interesting how fabric can behave well sometimes and other times not. I keep checking the back to be sure there are no snags and it's good to ... read more On the wall now, sewn for a child perhaps...this hanging I bought at a thrift shop. I liked the maker's free style...three rows of mostly plain blocks with appliqued figures sewn over it. I thought the big eyed owls cute and the toadstool and mouse neat. Closer examination showed two pieces of fabric featuring horse backed riders in red coats. I like this primitive kind of improv style too and I'm glad I "rescued" it. Have you ever rescued a fellow stitcher's work too?
I don't make many indoor bouquets anymore even though that is something I enjoy having; I leave it for the bees and insects. But I couldn't resist the beautiful contrast of the purple Asters and the mustard yellow Goldenrod. There are three varieties of autumn Asters here, pale blue and white as well as the purple New England Asters.
It felt like a quilt making day on Friday. The walk early morning was one with a bracing wind in my face. 2C overnight but the wind definitely made it feel colder. I was thankful I'd opted for ...
read moreI never tire of walking this property in every season. Each time my eye lands on something new or different to take note of. I was happy to read Ralph's quote that describes my experiences as I try to have an attentive eye too.

read moreThis week, we had two drives with car clubs going up to the high country in the northern mountain area of North Carolina. One drive was a history tour starting in South Carolina and ending in Banner Elk, with the leaders telling us about Revolutionary War sites. We had 17 MINIs on that run.

Our mountain roads are not exactly straight.

We went past battle grounds and parks dedicated to history, along with farms and the lovely pastoral scenes so typical of our state. We went by lots of pastures with cows or horses, and some had goats or sheep ...

It was a banner autumn for mushrooms. I photographed many around the trails and especially liked the tiny little one I spied growing inside this log.
There are lots of things going on, and growing on, around here. Despite my best intentions, my "to do" list is one of those things that grows out of control, like Kudzu, and thwarts all attempts to keep up with posting here. Gregory has turned eleven years old this month. Eleven! One thing that doesn't seem to to grow is available time: that shrinks! Seriously. How can it be November already?
