Amber and Aubergine Flimsy, Teddy Bear Quilting, and New Storage from The Colorful Fabricholic

It's been a couple weeks since I last posted. No worries, everything's fine here. I've just been working on non-picture-worthy stuff and confidential stuff.

But I did take time very early this morning before the sun got too bright and harsh for photos, to take some pics of this month's finishes.

At my most recent long arm quilting session, I quilted the 16 Patch baby quilt. This was made from leftovers from the opal project plus a few more strips, with white sashing added. The flimsy was completed at April retreat.

Since then PCQ's quilt ...

Weekend Update from Quarter-Inch Capers

 Happy Memorial Day friends!

I don’t have any big plans for today; maybe some yard work, and if I’m lucky, a nap.

I got another quilt finished Saturday. It’s for a high school graduation.

The graduate is a baseball Player who is going to college on a baseball scholarship. Here’s a closeup of the fabrics:

And, the back is balls and bats.

I have to say, I finally went to the doctor on Friday. I am so tired of not feeling well, and just didn’t want to go another week with no energy and not ...

More Lupin and Laughter from Life In Pieces

Saturday was rainy, but the rest of the holiday weekend has been gorgeous. My Guy and I went for a walk last night after dinner.  My back seems to have recovered, but my right knee is still giving me fits, so it wasn't a long walk.

The sewing room hasn't been as attractive the last couple of weekends.  I've been reading more than I typically do.  That's OK, sometimes you need to mix it up a bit. There was enough sewing time to finish up the "A" blocks.

What looks black is actually a very, very ...

Summer blessings from Just Sew Sue

Summer blessings by Primrose Cottage was the free stitch for May for being a newsletter subscriber. I find it uncomfortable to sit for more than an hour, so this has taken longer than I had anticipated. Today is a bank holiday and it's hot, so time to finish off the small bees and flowers. I will make this into a small pillow but need to find some suitable fabric.

A New (Big) Project: Double Four-Patch from Wedding Dress Blue

When I am sorting scraps, or cleaning up after projects, I cut likely pieces into standard sizes: 1-1/2″, 2″, 2-1/2″ squares. They are so handy, sitting there in their little tubs just waiting for a project to come along.

And here it is! Double four-patch.

A large (queen? king?) size quilt made out of 4-1/2″ blocks. Yes, it is a lot, but I have a lot of squares. And I am not in a hurry. And, I already have 11 blocks. Only something like 550+ to go.

Real Life Animal Crossing from The Quilt Quine

I used to be somewhat addicted to a Nintendo game called “Animal Crossing” where I would run around planting, watering and weeding on my virtual island. That was ME in real life this weekend, planting up a veritable farm in containers, taking over any unclaimed patch of ground. If it was my own garden I would probably put in lots of raised beds but Nessie crashes around on the grass playing footie and when I eventually move on I will have to shift an awful lot of plants in pots!

Last week when I had visitors it was unseasonably cool ...

RSC Week 21 - Orange from Grandma's Red Needle

Another week has passed (how did that happen?).
What has happened in your sewing room?

This is the only orange that happened in my sewing room - one 9-patches from 2" squares

In between working on my UFOs - mostly quilting - I've been piecing some scrappy 16-patches. As I've mentioned earlier; I have thousands (I'm not exaggerating!) of 2" squares from swaps as well as my own. Some are used, but there are still a lot. I just have to start somewhere, right? I've yet to decide what to do with these blocks.

Seven 16-patches (2" squares) from ...

Memorial Day 2026 - a day of remembrance.

Here in the US today we're honoring those veterans who are no longer with us.  I'm not attending any Memorial Day programs this year but am taking a bit of time to reflect on my father and his 5 brothers who all served our country in uniform. Three of them, including my dad, all served during WWII. I've been researching my dad's military "history", as he rarely talked about it when he was alive. He was a 19 year old paratrooper dropped behind enemy line in Operation Varsity near ...

Save the planet from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Art is art! Oh my—I love Tammy's comment about the CN Tower from yesterday's blog. The person who criticized the block recognized it as the CN Tower. Mission accomplished!!! I NEVER think of the good comebacks at the time.

Imagine if we were all quick on our feet and could put the "Karens" in their place immediately!! I have to work on those witty comebacks!

And it was time for our UFO Club. The amount of UFOs that most of us have is obscene, but slow and steady, and we will whittle them away. That's my ...

In Memory from Happy Cottage Quilter

Memorial Day is a day celebrated in the US in honor and tribute to the soldiers who have lost their lives in service protecting our country.

Memorial Day is a truly patriotic holiday which is celebrated on the last Monday in May. It is a day set apart for remembering and honoring those who died while serving in the American Armed Forces.

In 1971 Congress passed a law making Memorial Day a national holiday. Typical Memorial Day celebrations include parades, special programs and speeches. Americans often attend picnics and baseball games, and almost any other type of outdoor event made ...

Sewing started..................... from Exuberant Color

The William Morris fabrics were finally pressed so I could cut the Trip Around the World strips.  My sciatica has kept me from standing for long times at the ironing table.  I got several bobbins wound for all of this strata sewing so I'm all set for mindless sewing.

I got those 3 strips sewn for all 4 stratas.

Today looks to be a beautiful day for all of the Memorial Day events.  82 degrees and sunshine is predicted.

Design Wall Monday - May 25, 2026 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

Good Morning Quilters!  Today is Memorial Day and we honor those who fought and died for our freedom.  I have deep respect and gratitude for all of them.

Five rows (out of a total of fifteen) are finished for the doll quilt I’m making to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary.  Sewing these hsts together is a fun project, as it grows a little bit each day.  See last week’s post for more info.

Progress has also been made on the Jane Austen quilt, with much thanks to Amy, our “extra Grandaughter” who is staying with us for ...

Quilty Quarters from Angie Quilts

Whoops, I won't be appliqueing my Clam Bake cushion on the upcoming retreat after all!!

I couldn't resist and I finished it all ha ha ha! So many thread colour changes too. I was in the zone (with an audio book) so it didn't bother me at all, I just got on with it. Each day I entered Quilt Quarters I did an hour or so. Then most of yesterday afternoon to keep out of the sun. Very pleased with it.

I've still got quite a few bits of the fabrics left so I'm now ...

Any Which Way Quilt and Pattern ~ NEW! from Curlicue Creations

Meet Any Which Way, one of four new quilt patterns I created with my newest Island Batik Lumin Fabrics signature fabric collection, Sunflower Spice.

This collection is so bright and beautiful!  I loved working with it to bring my designs to life.  Sunflower Spice is a gorgeous rainbow collection featuring Sunflowers, leaves, tossed petals, and foliage designs.  This fabric should be hitting shops now.  If you don't see Sunflower Spice and Curlicue Creations patterns in your local quilt shop, please ask for them.

The Any Which Way quilt is so much fun to make!  I've long wanted to ...

Trip To Battle Ground, WA from Quilting My Way

This morning, we worked on getting a few things cleaned up before heading to moms to get her.

We picked mom up around 10 am. Then we headed down to Battle Ground for my great-niece's 1st Birthday party. We were at the park in Battle Ground. At first, it was hard to find them. There were a couple groups there in the different areas, so we called Alicia and she came part way from the picnic area to show me where to go. It was a walk for mom, but she did well. She enjoyed being there with her ...

 Hello There,
Welcome!  I hope you've had a fabulous week!  I wanted to share a couple of blogging tips I've learned the hard way.  I've lost so much time when I somehow make the post/s I'm working on disappear.  Now I regularly create a backup for these posts as I'm writing them. Perhaps some of you work on your phone and computer as you write your posts.  Make sure to close your posts before you use your other devices.  Otherwise, the post might disappear.  Ask me how I know.

Another frustrating experience is losing ...

Week 21 of 2026 from Thread Head

This week I finished weaving a set of tea towels -

The pattern is the Cajun Inspired Tea Towels from Handwoven magazine, issue Jan/Feb 2015. This is the fourth time I have woven this pattern, but the first time I used the called for colours. Three of the towels are woven with thrums (short lengths of leftover cotton knotted together), these ones remind me of a handwoven rug my Mom had. The pattern is one of my favourites.

Photos from Around -

One of these is not like the others.
Good times.
Summer weather has finally arrived!
