Here’s my plan for getting this monster stitched and framed before July 4, 2026. It’s Let Freedom Ring by Lila’s Studio. On 40 count linen, it should be 15-1/2″ x 12″. There are 35,818 stitches. If I stitch 750 stitches each week for 48 weeks, that will give me four weeks to get a frame...

The top is assembled. I had to create a few blocks to get a complete top. Should have the finish to share in a few weeks.

I heard a funny noise the other morning, but didn't think too much about it, perhaps it was the traffic on the road out the back. But later in the morning when I went to hang some freshly ironed clothes away, I saw what it was. The wardrobe shelf and clothes rail had parted company with the wall, and was hanging by a screw! Oh dear, what to do now?
Ooops, it gave way
I had an electrician around the following day, Callum, a nice young man just starting out in business on his own, to replace the light ...

It’s the Prairie Pastures Runner from The Prairie Home Quilt Book by Lori Holt by the ever-so-lovely Lori Holt (published by It’s Sew Emma). With all that I sewed yesterday and Thursday, I have plenty to start sewing into blocks. I pressed all of them so I would be ready for assembly last night and today. I sewed 32 blocks last night and added them to the 39 already sewn. They are 6" blocks.
I watered the tomato plants and then went to the front garden and watered the bushes. This is the Zinfin Doll Hydrangea finally starting to ... read more
Why did I need quilt therapy on the 4th of July? Long story short...my neighbor asked me to feed her dogs while she was out of town this weekend. While playing outside with them in the afternoon one of them took off on an adventure. Two hours later and a lot of driving I found the dog. I managed to keep my wits about me while looking for him, but horrible things ran through my head. Upon returning home I broke down and let the bottled-up emotions out in tears. After calming down I knew I needed some sewing ...

Thank you to my friend Georgie Parish for letting me draw her photo. The composition is amazing, look at the focus and the use of thirds!
This one not only used the same pattern and fabric, but was also done by the same quilter. She was gifted fabric and decided to use it all.
The only change here from the previous one was the quilting motif.

I thought about getting tea but decided not to. So, I arrived before everyone else at moms. We talked about all the squares and blocks she's getting ready for the group to work on. There must be enough blocks there to make about 6 quilts if not more. She's working on the red ones, which I need for the quilt downstairs. I'm going to take them to the meeting and see if we could work on putting the top together, ready to sew on ...

The first design today has two 9 Patch block designs using two different fabrics, and it looks good.

The second design has 4 different 9 patch blocks and 3 fabrics, and it also looks good! One of the block designs is only used once.
The only down side I can think of is that I couldn’t justify spending an hour in a quilt shop to select the fabrics!

I found this free coloring chart on a blog called Confessions of a Fabric Addict, where she was hosting a QAL back in 2019. You can click the link to get it if you want to make one too. She has some other ways to color in for different looking quilts. |

Last week I went to a rummage sale. I had no intention of going. I was only trying to kill time. I thought I had a doctor appointment on Thursday with my local doctor for my annual checkup. I got there at 7:45 and oops. My appointment was for JULY 24th not JUNE 24th. UGH. …

I've been to five ALA Midwinter Meetings (January/February) in Philadelphia, most recently in January, 2020. This was the first Annual there since 1982.
My first ALA Annual Conference was in 1984. Since the I've missed two (1991 and 2016). 2020 was cancelled and 2021 was virtual. By my reckoning that means this year was #37. I go to the conference to learn about issues and new books, hear interesting speakers, sightsee, and see friends. My main involvement nowadays is the Retired Members Round Table.
