It’s here! from Quilting and More...

What’s here, you ask? Why, my brand-new replacement Bernina 790Pro!!!! It’s been a month since my original Pro sort of blew up, but Bernina sent me a new one that I picked up from my dealer  last night. The only reason for the delay was that the local tech — a really nice guy — […]

I like the second design … also an interesting collection of blocks, though I think I would applique the four bow blocks.

May is Pink! from The Modern Diary

I finished my blocks for Princess Crown #2 and was so excited I started sewing them together.  About three fourths of the way through I realized I had forgotten to add the already cut sashing and cornerstones!  I decided to just keep on keeping on and cut another whole quilt to use the sashing and cornerstones in.

I am loving my Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers for trimming up all the hst's for the A Quilting Life BOM/Rainbow Scrap Challenge block.  Here are my pink blocks for May.  Linking up with Angela .

Pieces of My Life ~ Blocks #7 & 8 - Star and Bowtie from Melva Loves Scraps

There is just something about remembering...

Here's a whole scientific explanation about it.

As I help Mom with her down-sizing, I see that she is struggling with the idea of letting go of the "stuff" that helps her reflect on various times of her life.

The thing is... we are both learning that we don't NEED to hold on to all of the "stuff" in order to keep the memories alive and to hold on to those feelings of happiness and comfort.

Taking pictures of special items and then writing down some thoughts and memories about them and ...

What I’m Reading: I Was Anastacia from Jo's Country Junction

I have always been a little intrigued by the royalty of the England and Queen Victoria. It’s so amazing how she came to be the mother or grandmother of so many leaders of countries in Europe. That often leads me to the Romanov family leaders of Russia and of course to Anastacia. So…when I saw …

Quilt Palette Inspiration from Adventurous Quilter

Oh gosh! A walk in the Australian bush never fails to help me envision a quilt palette! I love this one! I'd use the black as the background fabric!

Would you sew with this palette?

Chicken Enchiladas from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

One of my favorite cooking YouTube channels is Rachel Cooks With Love, though most of the time I call it “Rachel Loves to Cook”. I’ve made so many of her recipes and they are all delicious. I told Vince at dinner . . if I could cook only one ethnic food forever, it would be...

Make a Grab and Go Sewing Supplies Kit from Patchwork Posse

This grab and go sewing supplies kit is something that I take every time I sew. No matter if it’s sewing local or long distance (think quilt retreat) I have all my favorite supplies with me.

It has saved me a few times because I have extras. Extra bobbins, needles, thread, and random things. Today we get to take a look inside.

I am pretty lucky to have a local quilt group that I can attend – not only that, but they meet a few times per month for a few hours of sewing.

It’s one of my favorite ...

Squirrel collecting Nuts from Lisa H Calle's Blog

Personal growth is never easy, but they say anything worth having is not easy. Over the past 6 months, I have learned quite a bit about myself; not all have been an easy lesson.

I know I do not like conflict, but I don’t know anyone who really loves it. Although I’m sure they are out there. I was pretty explosive as a teenager, but that did not serve me well. I tend to pull back and think before I speak, but then, many times, I “get over” whatever it was. My ...

» Priscilla's Workshop

I finally see the orthopedist this week for my continuing arm pain, attributed to a rotator cuff tear by my primary care doctor. While I believe that this doctor will want to do surgery, I have misgivings about that. My last surgery, a redo on my left thumb, only took 14 minutes according to the post-op report but I still came close to stroking out. This despite telling all and sundry that I didn't react well to anesthesia and that the problem seemed to get more dire the more surgeries I had.

Although I think I am overall a ...

Cooking for the Crew from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Spring has arrived in the desert. The mesquite has leafed out. The buzzards have returned. Baby calves are on the ground. And branding season is in full swing. That means I am in the kitchen, cooking for a crew. Yesterday I had 20.

Back to Quilting from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Back to quilting.  After my mishap, it was slow going to return to working in the sewing room. Since I could only piece, I began two more projects. One is a scrappy star quilt and one is a square in a square. And then I bought the latest issue of Quilter's World and a third quilt block was started. There are so many very nice quilts in this issue that I think I'll have a lot of ideas

Friday check in: another finish and rummage sale score from With Strings Attached

I mentioned that Barb-the-quilter had time to do a second quilt for me.   I applied the binding Wednesday evening.

I made the flimsy way back in 2020 when I had the notion that I could reduce the Civil War stash.  (All posts for that project are labeled CWRSRP.  It is a longterm goal. <g>)

Baptist Fan for the center and border, with circles in the inner border.

The back is nearly vintage.  It was an 8-yard piece that I got at an estate sale about 15 years ago.  I have 3-1/2 yards left.

Dear Jane Motivation from A Sentimental Quilter

Quilting friends, I can't believe we're already on Week 9 of Dear Jane Fridays in my Facebook group. I hope some of you are following along too. I'm seeing lots of good progress.

For years, I enjoyed looking at all the wonderful Dear Jane quilts others had made and always thought: Never in a million years would I be able to finish one of those. Well, guess what? I loved this quilt so much and finally took the leap 14 years ago (!). I know, I know - some quilters finish in a year or less. Don’t let ...

Quilt Shop: Sarah's Fabrics; Lawrence, Kansas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a leisurely day yesterday. I spent some time reading email and playing my word games. After breakfast, I spent some time on my slow-stitching. I finished stitching the tail-end of the cat.

All that's left now is to stitch the tree trunk on the left side.

I couldn't capture the whole thing in my hoop, but I stitched a little more and finished off the bottom.

And now, I have just the upper part of the trunk to stitch. I had to switch to a smaller hoop.

You might remember this pattern ...
