Cornerstone Logs + Hot Pinks 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

Playing with this project over the next few months could help me believe that it is warm outside, but I doubt it! Cold weather affects my body enough to remind me what the weather is like even without looking outside. However, I love the colours, and the designs are heart warming.

Love the second one!

The one above is interesting!

Another interesting design.

I love the last one for today, and for this week’s Log Cabin retreat.

More Log Cabin variations mid week, next week.

The Pied a Terre Quilt from Ann Quilts

A couple of years ago, I told Part 1 of this story, in which I mended a memory quilt for a customer.  She shared its sweet story for me to share here.  On the post, you can see the quilt and read the story of family love across generations and many miles.  I've also described the mending and rebuilding that I did.

Here are a couple of photos from Part 1 to whet your whistle.  In today's post, I will share Part 2.

Part 2 began when I received this email from the quilt owner.

A few weekends ...

My EPP Kit from Adventurous Quilter

I've had a few questions about my EPP kit so here's a look into what I think is vital for a basic kit that enables you to begin English paper piecing.

It's actually pretty simple, which is why I think this style of piecing is so popular that it's been having a revival amongst modern quilters for the past few years.

Template Creation

  • Paper scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Printed EPP templates - I have free printables available on my download website (link in left sidebar)
I use the hole punch to create a hole in each template, it ...

Alaska + Border from The Knitting Quilter

I was a little nervous about this border. I wanted it to look like Edyta Sitar's border but there were no instructions. I'm happy to say it came out just as I had hoped. I have alternating beige and off white squares to create nice 4 patches where the border meets the body of the quilt. I've already started making more blocks for the remaining borders.

I've had a busy couple of days but hope things will calm down soon. I had jury duty yesterday but was dismissed late morning. So glad that's over!

To Do Tuesday for the Week of 5/7/2024 from Life In Pieces

I wasn't sure I'd be posting today.  We spent about 30 minutes in our storm shelter last night.  We live in the part of Oklahoma that took direct hits from a tornado last night. From the damage reports we've seen, we are no more than a couple of miles off the track it took through our community.  So we were very lucky. We have friends and co-workers that live in Barnsdall, the community that's been the hardest hit. Please keep those residents in your thoughts and prayers. So many will have to completely rebuild.

A rather ...

Standing Still from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a do-nothing day yesterday. We've been doing so much sight-seeing and driving, it's nice to just sit still and do nothing for a bit. Sunday was my birthday. Today is Mike's birthday. That can mean only one thing...Eggs Benedict for breakfast.

I've only made Eggs Benedict one other time while on the road. It was somewhere in North Carolina, I think. I tried unsuccessfully to find a blog post about it because I wanted to see what I did about the hollandaise. When I make this at home, I ...

Hey Boo! from Moda Lissa

I am such a fan girl of Vanessa Goertzen/Lella Boutique.  Every fabric collection that she creates I become obsessed with. I don’t really need to describe why, if you know you know!

What is a word for fresh traditional modern? Vanessa’s designs cover it all.

I recently finished several of her patterns using OLD GLORY and have moved on to her FALL fabrics,
HEY BOO! These colors are so fun and different for Halloween. I made the quilt that Moda will be kitting, named Pushing up Daisies. Stock # LB 231 and the quilt finishes at 80” x ...
