waffles blocks from Making A Lather

I have been making the waffle stamp blocks this year as part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I cut for about 50 at the beginning and then used the color of the month to cut more. And to sew them together according to the color of the month. This month, I cut purple and that gave me 168 cut. I am sure that is enough. So, now I can add the finish of this quilt to my regular, any time, sewing.

Now that I have all the pieces cut for the waffle blocks, I am going to ...

waffle stamp blocks in purple from Making A Lather

Purple is the color for June at the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I really like purple. I grabbed the purple bag of 1 1/2 inch strips and cut for several waffle stamp blocks. I need a piece that is at least 17 inches to get 3 -5 1/2 rectangles. Then, the fun begins.  I had enough center pieces made ahead for this batch of waffle stamp blocks. I still have a few purple sets that are not done, that I can make after I make some center strips of 1 1/2 inch squares or strips ...

works in progress from Making A Lather

What I am working on this week. I am trying to make 2 easy breezy blocks every day. I still have 70 + to go.

And if I have enough extra 1 1/2 inch squares to make a waffle stamps block, I make it in any color. Otherwise, I use the color of the month from rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This month is red and I finished the red here.

I made a batch of  quilted twins free pattern called swingin checkerboard. I have another 30 - 40 to go.

I worked on rsc blocks in red for ...

waffle blocks from Making A Lather

I was out of pieces for the "inside" of my waffle stamp blocks. It was therapeutic to sew strips together in different combinations to make the centers. I used up some small pieces that were in the 1 1/2 in strip drawer.

I needed to cut red for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy for the outside parts of the waffle stamp blocks.  I think every scrappy quilt needs a little red somewhere.

I sewed a few blocks together in sets of 4. I didn't want to sew too many, in case they all looked the same ...

what I am working on from Making A Lather

A little bit here and there. I found some bright 4 patches in my reorganization of the project selves. I think I was planning on making a stepping stone quilt with them. In any event, I brought them over to work on as more of a leader/ ender.

I need to cut more upcycled shirts for the anvil blocks. I really like making these. Each one looks so nice.

These are the little easy breezy blocks made with 1 1/2 inch squares. I still have some cut and ready to sew.

I tried  a new bread recipe - honey orange ...

top of the green from Making A Lather

I found a big bag of green scraps that I wanted to sort and decide. It was a nearly full 2 gallon ziplock bag. I spent 2 evenings folding and cutting. green is the  color for March for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

By the time I emptied the bag, I had a tray full of new additions to my scrap user's system. These weighed 2 pounds = 6 yards of fabric= at least 60.00

Now to see if the new pieces will fit in my drawers. 5 inch size is a new addition this year to ...

waffling and blue skies from Making A Lather

I overdid the yellow waffle stamp blocks , but, that gets me to a larger number already done for the whole quilt. These are very easy to do and a bit addictive.

One of the Ufos I wanted to do for yellow at rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, was Bonnie Hunter blue skies from her book string fling. I made the string blocks during a string basket cleaning in 2016. I was string piecing anything in the book I might want to make while I was playing with strings. Last month, I assembled zucherwatte with pink. After reading that I ...

making more blocks from Making A Lather

I have some blocks I have been working on. Other than that, I am still in a decision phase of finishing my February projects. And I need to cut some yellow scraps.

easy breezy

I think I have decided to add a border to my boxy stars quilt - Bonnie Hunter free pattern. I think it will work with a fabric I had in my stash.

to do: work with tiny pieces from Making A Lather

I have been working with tiny 1 1/2 inch squares that are sitting next to my sewing machine. I collect them, until, I think I can make either waffle stamp blocks  or postage stamp psp20/21. I am always amazed at how many are in the stack. The stack of squares doesn't look like much, but it moves 2 quilts along. I have the solid pieces already cut and waiting in a drawer nearby.

pink revisited from Making A Lather

I have two postage stamp blocks - psp20 - my goal is 5 new every month this year. It's hard to tell, but these are 2 different pinks. I bought a honey bun especially for making these blocks, but, it has disappeared. So, I will be scrounging through my limited stash of solids. No problem. Maybe, if I pretend I am not interested in finding it, it will show up again. LOL

tiny houses

I made the tiny houses from 2 inch strip bin. I look for the shortest strip and cut it 2 1/2 inches and 3 1/2 ...
