I feel like anyone that ever began to sew, the origins started with their grandmother or mother showing them the basics. Since I was a little girl, my grandmother will always have me sit next to her and give me some thread, a needle, and a pile of socks to repair the holes on. As a little girl, I always saw this as a chore, but little did I know that I would love and appreciate this skill that she showed me. It’s made me explore what more I could do, and it even led me to purchase my ...
Hi makers!
My name is Karli and I am so excited to begin writing some blog posts for AGF! I work on tutorials and project creation here at AGF, so I am thrilled to be able to share my love of sewing and quilting with all you creative individuals, starting with these 12 Days of Christmas.
The holidays are upon us and with Christmas only 19 short days away, I’m sure everyone is busy sewing and quilting away to finish up all their gifts to give. Along with that, it’s time to double-check and make sure you have ...
Here in South Florida, during this time of year, there are a couple of very fun festivals and circus events happening that are always so exciting! Going there with good company and of course, all the fair food will always bring a smile to my face. Once I laid my eyes on Alexandra Bordallo’s Petite Circus collection, I was instantly brought to this happy place! Reminding me of all the fun times I had when I was a kid going to these fairs, waiting in line to go on the rides and having good conversations with friends, and eating ...
By being a creative person by nature, I will always have a deeper appreciation for art! Textile designs are unique in the way that you can feel the fabric, feel inspired, and manipulate it to transform into something even more beautiful! Every time a new collection is released, I’m thrilled to be one of the first ones to see the fabric because I instantly think of all the patchwork projects that can be created with it. This time around, when I saw Bonnie Christine’s latest collection, Wild forgotten, its wondrous prints and earthy colors made me instantly swoon ...
Welcome back, makers!
When surrounded by such a creative team, I’ve gained so much appreciation when a concept is brought to life! As creatives, there isn’t a mentor, no checklist, no rules to follow, just following your gut. However, with persistence, patience, and tons of practice, you can achieve anything you want! As makers, we can all relate to this, to think back to where we started off and how far we’ve come with our newfound skills. So, let’s take a moment and give yourself a pat on the back for everything you’ve accomplished!
With ...
Everyone cherishes their “me” time! That time of day where we can focus on something we enjoy, whether it’s sewing or reading our favorite novel. Now with Sharon Holland’s new fabric collection, Bookish you can cherish both moments at the same time! This collection encapsulates the delightful moments of drinking a hot cup of tea, reading a good book, and curling up in a cozy quilt. Bookish tells a tale of classic romance and modern whimsy in dusty-colored book covers of rose, burgundy, teal, peach, and gold.
I always have the pleasure of talking to our designers before ...

read moreHi, fabric friends!
Here at AGF, we love coming up with innovative designs and pushing the definition of what low volume prints mean, so we added a little spice! In some of our past Fusions, we released collections like Ballerina Fusion and Serenity Fusion that were based on the same idea but with a twist. Ballerina Fusion had a hint of pink, Serenity Fusion had a tint of blue, and now with our latest release of Vert Fusion, our approach was sage and aloe tones.
If you’re new to AGF, our Fusions are a mixture of prints from other ...
A butterfly is the pickiest of guests.
Invite her for brunch, and she won’t eat a bite—unless you serve her favorite food. (Milkweed for monarchs; white cedar for hairstreaks.)
On evening strolls, the weather must be perfect. If it’s too chilly, your fluttery friend will simply stop, drop, and nap.
And no matter how lovely the guest room, it won’t tempt Miss Butterfly. Oh, she may request a posh butterfly house. But rest assured she’ll never step inside.
This week Jenny is stitching up a layer cake butterfly quilt fit for a queen. She’s ...

Welcome to the jungle!! Did anyone else hear Axl Rose’s voice in their head? Haha! What a good song to introduce you to Katarina Roccella’s latest fabric collection, BOSCAGE! This fabric collection is quite exciting and a little different from our past releases because it only comes in one colorway and LOTS of substrates. Looking at these fabrics in real life, you can see why there are so many substrates, and it’s because they are quite iconic and bold! Your fabric-loving hearts are going to skip a beat with the 12 quilting cotton prints, 2 knits, 4 ...
My favorite season of the year is Summer so when I see bright and colorful fabric prints, I automatically get excited! Today’s Lookbook release is a special one because it’s our collection called Sunburst, that just transports you into a 1960’s mid-summer paradise. All the designs just make you want to sit by the poolside and soak up some rays like the print “Fun in the Sun Chill” which is the one featuring the ladies laying on towels, the fresh lemons, and the beach balls! I can already see so many summer projects being made that just ...

People often find quilting in times of need to help them through difficult situations – that’s how The Quilting Marine first discovered his love for quilting. After serving 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, The Quilting Marine found quilting as his therapy for PTSD related issues. Now, he has a new goal and his YouTube channel says it best, “I taught myself to quilt and would like to help you make quilts that you can admire for years to come.”
What is your favorite part of the quilting process?
My favorite part is piecing the ...
read moreWhen pioneers trekked west, they took only what could fit in one small covered wagon. Most worldly treasures were left behind.
But quilts? Quilts were an absolute necessity. They were used as shelter; they were used for warmth. Quilts swaddled babies and protected fragile family heirlooms as they bumped and jostled along the dusty Oregon Trail.
Those antique pioneer quilts were made from scraps, skillfully stitched by hand into simple 9-patches, log cabins, and pinwheels. 200 years later, we are making those same old-fashioned patterns, and they’re just as pretty as ever!
This week Jenny is working on a ...
read moreThe closest star in the night sky is about 25 trillion miles away, give or take. If you plan to visit, be sure to pack a lunch; it will take 75,000 years to arrive. Of course, if you’re short on time, you can create your own gorgeous stars at home!
This week Jenny is stitching together a breathtaking star quilt made with jelly rolls and the Missouri Star Equilateral 60 Degree Triangle Ruler.
This pattern produces very little waste, and the bits of extra are used to make a fun, pieced strip for the back of the quilt!

Once upon a time, the Lady of the Lake emerged from the waters of Avalon to bestow a magical sword on young King Arthur. Arthur took that sword to war and…was mortally wounded. What a shame! What if she had given him a fancy new sewing machine instead? Just imagine the quilts he could have made!

The Lady of the Lake quilt pattern is an old-fashioned favorite made entirely of half-square triangles. Jenny used layer cakes in bright white and “Horizon,” the 2021 Kona Color of the Year to create a two-color quilt that is lovely as a fairytale ...
read moreAre you anxiously waiting for spring to arrive? You are not alone! The residents of Longyearbyen, Norway, have lived in darkness since October 25th. That’s 3,000 hours with no sunshine at all!
But on March 8th, the sun will finally peek over the horizon, and the townsfolk are ready to par-tay with a week-long festival called Solfestuka. Choir children dress like sunbeams, folks feast on sunshiny pastries, and a few brave souls dress in swimsuits and sunglasses!
Of course, no celebration is complete without a quilt, so Jenny has whipped up a gorgeous new pattern to welcome the ...

In old-timey movies, the wealthy are surrounded by teetering stacks of gold coins. So, my little-kid self believed that’s what riches were.
A “few” decades later, I find myself surrounded instead with stacks of fabric. And in my book…that’s even better!
This week Jenny is whipping up a classic coin quilt with a fun new twist. First, she makes traditional coin stacks out of jelly roll strip sets. Then, she uses the Missouri Star Circle Magic template to add a sprinkling of easy applique circles. The end result is a totally new pattern that is truly out-of-this-world ...
