These three 8″ x 8″ bears are great for incorporating into a child’s quilt, a table runner, or used as a repeat for a larger project. The three are all different patterns emphasizing the different head shapes that make these bears distinctive. They are meant to be pieced using the folded Freezer paper technique, but other methods work well too. The patterns are simple enough to be weekend.
The pattern comes as a PDF download for you to print, small enough to print on one sheet of paper. Click here for the $8.92 pattern. You can pay with ...

The Summer has been lovely [super hot], yet I am ready for the cooler weather. The Snowy Days & Frosty Nights collection by Kathi Campbell from Heart to Hand for Studio E Fabrics transports me quickly to Winter with whimsical snowmen, flowing snowflakes, and snow-covered landscapes. I designed two projects for this collection.

Each block features four large squares of one hankie. You can even use hankies that have crochet edges, embroidered flowers and different colors.
The backing fabric can show through just a tiny bit – so make sure that’s a beautiful fabric as well.
For a while I was a big vintage hankie and fabric collector. I love, love that kind of stuff! I have more than enough ...

read moreHello Friends, today is check-in #2 for #Sparklers QAL #2! Today, we make our first set of 4 blocks.
Schedule is merely suggested – it’s totally ok to sew at your own pace, but if you follow the schedule, you WILL complete the quilt.

As it stands, I think I might not be able to keep up with the schedule due to very heavy workload of late, but you keep sewing along, and soon you will have the quilt made!
BEFORE YOU START – always read/study through the pattern, and make notes for yourself, and then… make a test block ...

My High Frequency quilt is ready! It measures 56″ x 64″ and the blocks finish at 8″. I made it using one package of 10″ squares of Kaffe Fasset Collective Classic Spots by FreeSpirit Fabrics, an accent fabric, and background fabric! I love its playful and colorful vibe, don’t you?
I chose not to add borders because I wanted to focus on the quilt design. Should you wish to make a larger version of ...

Inspired by my Field of Flowers quilt from last year’s Great Jelly Roll Bash, this is Wind Echoes. I am totally into pinwheel quilts and have made many different types over the years.
One of my favorite parts of the drive to California is watching the wind turbines scattered across the landscape. These giant windmills spin slowly against layered mountains. They captivate me. It might be because my parents are from Holland, but I love all things windmill-ish and pinwheels are just mini windmills.

I am so excited to share that I have a new book coming out later this year! Modern Scrap Quilts will be out with Stash Publications in November!

This book was originally supposed to be mostly a pattern book, but I realized I had a lot to say about scraps in the negative space, so it has ended up being a bit of a follow-up to my first book, The Quilter’s Negative Space Handbook. That means that in addition to the patterns, there are lots of ideas to help you design your own quilts—and help use up some ...
read moreLately, I’ve noticed an abundance of white fabric scraps piling up in my stash—more than any other color! While sorting through some focus fabrics from my Quilt Guild for charity blocks, inspiration struck. The playful cat print is the perfect contrast to a sardine-themed quilt block I’ve been wanting to make. Last weekend offered an ideal break between projects, so I took the opportunity for a little creative refresh—a “quilty jolt,” if you will. That spark led to the creation of a free quilt block pattern that’s ...
