Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last week I made another pair of monster socks. The heel is made by working short rows on half the cylinder needles.
These are still my favorite socks. I love hour I can mix the yarns together and come up with a unique pair every time.

The May 2021 Knitterly Things sock yarn club yarn is Cheerful.
I really like these bright colors.
Such a fun self-striping yarn.
All that remains is to close up the toes and they will be ready for when the cold weather returns.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

The June 2021 Knitterly Things sock yarn club yarn is Collide.
This time the coordinating mini has speckles. Such a a fun surprise.
I so enjoy a self-striping yarn! All that's left is to close up those toes. I surprised myself by getting them to match.

For those of you keeping track (that number is likely zero) I missed Wednesday this week. That's the first missed post in a long time.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had these little cakes waiting to become socks for entirely too long. I decided it was time to get cranking. Yarn is Knit Picks Stroll Gradient Duos. It looks like they no longer offer these with two small (50 gram) cakes. You can buy their larger Stroll Gradient in 100 gram cakes.
I decided to make the heels contrast my using the center of the ball for the contrast heel. The last pair I made I cranked right through and I wasn't as happy with the result. You can check out that pair in this post from ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Even though it is summer here I keep making socks.
This is the toe on another pair of monster socks. Machine-knit socks use a simple short-row heel and toe.
Every once in a while I get a comment on my sock photos asking why the toes are open, or how someone is supposed to wear these. The simple answer is that these aren't finished.
The next step is where I pick up the live stitches onto two short circular needles and remove the waste yarn. This is very similar to how commercially made socks are finished. Just look at ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

When I make monster socks I use the mini mast to make two row stripes easy. Here is close-up.
I grabbed some blues and made these great monster socks. What are monster socks? That is when I use three, or more, different yarns to make a pair of wonderfully scrappy socks. This pair uses four different yarns including a tweedy blue (Knit Picks Stroll Tweed), a fun stripe (Knit Picks Felici), a second striping yarn (Knit Picks Stroll), and a blue and green ombre (Cascade Heritage Wave). They can out so much better than I imagined.

Burda Style 6414 Dress from Tea Rose Home

I wanted to participate in #mymademay or #sewthatpattern during the month of May. I thought I should be able to create several outfits, and I quickly realized that I underestimated my schedule or how busy I will get just before the end of the school year. I finally found the time to sew one dress for this month!
I used Burda Style 6414 pattern and modified it a little. The original pattern had two options for the shoulders: one with drawstrings to adjust how much of the shoulders are covered, the other one is simply a no sleeve option. I ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

The latest pair of cranky socks. These were made with Activ yarn I bought from CSM Supplies. I wish I had all the colors.

On our short trip north I finished up the socks from last week. This pair of monster socks. This is how I Kitchener stitch the toes closed. First I transfer to live stitches onto a pair of short circulars, then Kitchener as one would any pair of socks. There are other ways to do this. This is just the way I am most comfortable.
And this pair made with some more Activ yarn. I gifted a ...

Travel Maker from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last week we had to travel to Rhode Island for business. My partner did the driving. I used that time to work on some hats for Knots of Love
I combined different yarns using the same pattern.
This is a quick pattern that makes a great beanie in a short period of time.
I looked at loads of patterns and ended up settling on this design of my own. Alternate between double crochet and single crochet rows. Make all stitches through the back loop. So simple yet very effective when alternating yarns. The one above was made with two different ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I was in the mood for some monster socks. I grabbed this purple Knit Picks Stroll and this fun Knit Picks Felici and got cranking.
I added contrast heels in electric blue along with some other leftovers from other socks. Every pair of monster socks is unique and I love that. I'm not even close to running out of leftovers to make more.
After making the monster socks I took a break (monster socks take almost twice a long as socks made with a single yarn) from the concentration of monster socks and made a simple pair of cocks ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Even though they aren't done when they come off the machine I feel like I've accomplished something. these were made with six different yarns. Some Knit Picks Stroll, Knit Picks Felici, a couple leftover bits from Knit Picks Stroll I dyed myself, and some Cascade. They all came together to create these delightful socks.
Kitchener stitching the toes closed takes less time than it does to watch a single episode of  Death in Paradise. I think I'll add these to my Etsy shop the next time I do a shop update.

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I saw an Instagram post by Knitterly Things for a sock yarn of the month club available for the next three months. I've never participated in a sock yarn club and I have a great pair of socks made with Knittrely Things yarn that I love. Sounded perfect. I signed up and paid for the three months.
I signed up to get a coordinating little hank for heels and toes. Aren't these colors delightful?
I wound my yarn into cakes, set up my machine and got cranking.
In no time I had an almost finished pair of socks ...

Remade Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I knit this pair of socks in November of 2019. The last time they came out of the wash one sock had a hole. I could mend the sock, or rip them both out and knit them again. I went with the latter.
The first step was to get rid of the toes. The wear at the toes was enough to make unraveling the knitting too difficult.
I wound the yarn onto my niddy noddy into hanks.
While unraveling one sock the yarn got tangled so I ended up with two small hanks and one larger one.
After a wash ...

Knots of Love from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been making more hats for Knots of Love. This one was made using Knit Picks Comfy and the sweet Coworker Beanie pattern by Rachy Newin
This one was made with the Tensfield by Martina Behm. I really enjoy this pattern. Simple knitting makes for a lovely hat.
When I was done with that one I immediately cast on another. That's how much I enjoy making this hat.
Tuesday evening I finished up. Such a soft, squishy beanie. Time to make another.

If you want to contribute but don't have the time or skills, you can support ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had this yarn for a few months. Sunday I wanted an easy project. I grabbed this ball of Activ and got cranking. I bought this yarn from CSM Supplies
When I want a quick project I go for a colorful yarn and the hung hem. These socks are simple and I love that. I wear this style of sock almost every day. Above, I'm in the process of hanging the hem.
I wanted to compare the ball of yarn (the first photo) to the finished fabric. This is one of the challenges of buying multi-colored yarn. You ...

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

It is fun to see how different yarns pool when you work with them. This yarn is one a dyed a while back and I had just a little over 50 grams left. I added contrast cuff, heel, and toe. I think they came out great!

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Sometimes I go back to a project, tool, or technique and remember why I tried it in the first place. This amazing machine is no exception. Every time I make a pair of socks I am pleased with the process and the results.
These were made using Cascade Yarns Heritage Wave. This fun yarn makes very wearable socks. They full (the stitches plump with washing making a denser fabric) a little bit in the wash so if you want a lighter sock this yarn might not be perfect for you.

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram (@beccascrazyprojects) and ...
