5 Minute Travel Tissue Holder Pattern from Patchwork Posse

Let’s make a cover for those travel tissues! This simple and quick 5 minute tissue holder pattern only uses two fabrics and is perfect for making for gifts, sewing friends and just having around in your home.

Feel free to mix and match your fabrics, use scraps from your stash and even personalize them for your friends.

If you’ve been looking for a quick gift – this is one! It doesn’t take much in fabric and supplies (nothing special) and should take you under 10 minutes from start to finish.

Depending on the size of your travel tissue ...

What we are working on. from Eagle's Wings Quilts

We’ve been busy, as usual, at our prayers and squares group. And I continue to work on projects here at home as well. I finished up the red/grey/yellow quilt today. It will go with me tomorrow to be trimmed and bound. All my striped binding fabrics now live at the church. I’m continuing to work on the half square triangle sampler quilt and now have 14 blocks finished. I only have a picture of 12 of them. These are a lot of fun to do. Although I have found that I have to be really careful ...

Spot On from Ellyn's Place

Time for some catching up! Back in January my pal Debbie was cleaning out her stash and gifted me a beautiful stack of improv hourglass blocks she had made last year.

I had a wonderful time assembling them into a quilt top, adding a scrap or two of my own alone the way to make things fit. As I assembled it, I began adding appliqué dots here and there, because, why not? The Modern Quilt Guild has recently embraced Maximalism as an element of modern quilting and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get on board.

I attached ...

Fill It Up With Family! from Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

"I'll go to Idaho to visit family in May!" I thought. "Surely, the weather will be lovely in May? It's a week before Mother's Day..."

And nature laughed and placed the snow-capped Wasatch Front in view from my window seat as our plane descended into the Salt Lake valley.

One more flight to go....

Wordy Wednesday from Melva Loves Scraps

The production level coming out of my studio has been off the charts lately!  Despite interruptions like my husband's business website crashing and needing to be re-created, making sales on-line as Mom continues to downsize and prepare for a move.

This green memory quilt, #2/3, is my latest finish...

It's all been amazing and great!  But quite honestly, I am longing to escape, unplug and go camping.  If it doesn't happen soon I think I will just pretend. You know... turn off the wi-fi, pull out all the hand-sewing projects and books... and take a deep ...

One Stitch At A Time from From the Strawberry Patch...

During my bone-mending "sabbatical" from this blog I have been stitching away. Smaller, close to my body movements such as cross-stitch and piecing didn't over-reach my capabilities. I HAD to do something other than sitting still and reading! This Blackbird Designs sampler spoke to me. I'm drawn to "bee" patterns especially, maybe because my first name is actually Hebrew for bee. This

Easy Layer-Cake Quilts: Simple Quilts from Craft Gossip

“Easy Layer-Cake Quilts” by Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobson instantly caught my eye with its adorable front page. With promises of 11 simple quilts that start with 10″ squares, I couldn’t wait to dive into this book and explore the creative possibilities it offered.

From the moment I opened the cover, I was greeted with a wealth of inspiration and practical guidance. The authors, known for their Me and My Sister Designs, have truly outdone themselves with this collection of quilts. Each project is thoughtfully designed to showcase the beauty of layer cakes—precut 10″ squares—while also providing ...

Midweek: passing the gavel + a flimsy and a pieced back from With Strings Attached

The Zion Woman's Club year-end luncheon was between the downpours that rolled in and rolled out at least three times yesterday.   The officer installation was performed by our friend Chris (Waukegan Women's Club).  Judy passed the gavel to me.  This will be my second time as president.

I made the wall hanging -- hollyhocks are our club flower.  Judy and her husband are moving out of state and giving up the garden she's been nurturing for many years.

A Kitchen Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had another relaxing day. It was Mike's birthday, and so I made him his beloved Eggs Benedict for breakfast. After breakfast, I went to work making a small dessert for our birthday dinner celebration. I tried a recipe for Lemon Pudding Cakes for Two. I happen to love pudding cake of any kind. Since I had everything I needed on hand, it was an easy choice. They had to bake for 45 minutes. When they came from the oven, they looked like this:

So I set those aside for later. The weather has been ...

Photo Play 2024: March Summary from Life In Pieces

The goal with my photography this year is to just enjoy the process and capture photos that bring me joy.  The lack of mobility due to my knee problems limited my photo excursions in March.  But I did get out a couple of times with the camera.

One of our family photo challenges in March was "statue(s)".  That required a walk in downtown.  The first signs of spring were just starting to bloom.

Red Maple leaves

Crepe Myrtle pods

I took a lot of photos that day downtown, but most of them are just a bit blah. I don ...

Tulips and more from My Sewing Room

One of my goals this week was to get the flimsy done for the spring door hanger.

Ta Da!!!  The flimsy is assembled, the binding is prepped, and all of the leftover pieces have been cut into squares/rectangles for future projects, or put into the stash in the case of larger pieces.  This door hanger is 20 x 36, so it's a size that I could possibly quilt myself.  We'll see if that happens.

I've been working on the scraps again.  The pinkish purple was perfect for a Kitty block, and a large (3 x 6 ...
