All About Angles Workshop with Ocean Waves Quilt Guild from Goer

I've really been enjoying connecting with guilds on Zoom. I recently joined the Ocean Waves Quilt Guild in Lewes, DE to share my Rules and Options of Planned Improv Piecing lecture and teach All About Angles. This workshop is one of my Planned Improv workshops where I present a technique and set of rules to follow, with lots of options for students to make the composition their own. From fabric choices to color placement, sizes and angles of cutting, and other unique twists, I love that everyone's finished projects look unique in the end. Here are the progress ...

Safari Tango from Seaside Stitches

My last finished quilt of 2020 is called Safari Tango. It might be the first true double-sided quilt I've ever made. The front was started in an online (Zoom) workshop with Diane Harris, The Stash Bandit, hosted by Ninigret Quilters. She calls her pattern Twofer Tango because you could get two quilts from your effort. The half square triangle units are bonus blocks from the creation of the main X-blocks. I chose to add mine around the border instead of harboring yet another UFO!

The back of the quilt was one of those long-simmering UFOs. Started in a class ...

Live EPP Class on Zoom! from Seaside Stitches

Have some fabric scraps, needle and thread? Join me for a Live EPP Ornament class next Wednesday! I'll be doing live demos, providing step-by-step instruction and answering your questions throughout the 2 hour class. Beginners are welcome, even if you didn't already know that EPP stands for English Paper Piecing.

You will need to print the templates onto a sheet of cover stock before class starts, so please plan accordingly. (I've heard that not everyone has a printer and a supply of card stock at home.)

You do not need to have your own Zoom account to ...

guild workshop from Making A Lather

Last Saturday, I taught a workshop for my guild, making the shine block and quilt. I am inspired by other's choices.

all pink jelly roll

really pretty Christmas jelly roll

fun Christmas jelly roll

I did get one row put together while the other's were sewing. But, I didn't get enough pictures of the other choices.

my costume - I was the only one

I made the orange cross blocks that I was missing for the row x row quilt and the rainbow scrap challenge. I am also missing a second turquoise row.

And, it is now, part ...

Ein Jahr (fast) ohne Workshops from Quiltmanufaktur

100 days of bojagi from Ellyn's Place

It's been 100 days since Quiltcon 2020 in Austin. 100 days since we hugged new and old friends, stood in lines (close together!), ate tacos in crowded restaurants, chatted with vendors with no masks and thought nothing of it. 100 days since I sat in a classroom at the convention center with new and old friends and learned to do Korean Bojagi from Daisy Aschehoug.

Daisy is a warm, kind, bubbly human who currently lives in Norway (yes, she flew across the ocean to teach us, another thing people could do way back in February). She's an awesome ...

Maritime Beauty Workshop? from Sew Karen-ly Created...

In response to many requests for a class on New York Beauties, I am tossing around the notion of offering a spring quilting workshop, to be held here in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Our project for the day will be the table-topper “Maritime Beauty”.
It’s a great learning piece, as it encompasses so many techniques – curves, spikes, and making and applying bias binding to a curved edge. You also get to turn 4 inside corners with that binding!
Quilted with a walking foot

Instead of regular foundation piecing, we will do paperless paper-piecing (also known as freezer paper piecing) which ...

gifted quilts from Ellyn's Place

There have been lots of happy occasions to gift my quilts lately! In December, friends of ours got married. We gifted them the improv string plus quilt I had begun in Sherri Lynn Wood's workshop in 2018. My pal, Diann, of Happy Quilts quilted it for me.
Then the babies began to arrive! Dear friends welcomed their first grandchild, a girl, in January. Knowing she was coming, I had made my final 2019 fifth Saturday challenge especially for her....
I assure you the quilt is square! Apparently I had my phone at an angle and this is the best ...

I am excited to be able to tell you about a new workshop that I will be giving this Autumn. It will take place in Duffryn Gardens which is a National Trust property in the Vale of Glamorgan. The class will be held in the Cory Education Centre which is a suburb purpose built classroom that they have on site. » Living4Quilting

I went to a workshop Saturday with my quilt guild. There was about 25 of us and we did two projects.  We made a handy basket and an easy 15 minute table runner.  It was a lot of fun and I plan on making a lot more so I can use up some of my scraps. I've done the table runner before and it is fun and quick to make.  It is the table runner by Utah State and there is a link on the right side of my blog down below.
