2019 Word of the Year from Goer

I know it's March. I decided in December when I didn't have the bandwidth to do serious planning that I would let March 1 be my New Year's Day. So, welcome and Happy New Year!

Last year my word of the year was Chaos, or really Embrace the Chaos. We are at the nearly finished end of a remodel at our house. (How long does the "nearly finished" stage last?) While things are certainly still chaotic I'm ready to move on and start settling into 2019. My word of the year for 2019 is Enjoy. All ...

Joy! Word of the year 2019 from Ellyn's Place

Every year I choose a word of the year. It's always a process for me to choose my word. I begin keeping lists in the fall of possible words for the following year. Sometimes my word is very clear to me. Other times, not so much. This year, the word Joy came to me at the very last possible minute!

I want to be very intentional about choosing to be joyful every single day this year. I finally got around to making my Joy quilt yesterday.

The colors are not quite right in this photo.... I chose fabrics ...

2019 Word Of The Year from Quilt Paint Create

It’s that time again, to listen quietly for the word that will influence me throughout the coming year.

Some years I spend a lot of time considering my choices. This year I simply rattled on to myself about what I wanted to do this year and how I wanted to do it. Then I thought about how I could sum it up in one word.

That word is ENJOY.

Once the word came to me, I realized it was more than a state of mind. I think there has to be space in the day for it. I can ...

Word of the Year 2019 from Books, Hooks, Sticks, etc.

See the source image

I have not been very good at keeping up with my Word of the Year.  But I will, once again, try this year to keep my word foremost in my thoughts.  We will see how that goes.

My word for the year is:

To deliberate means to carefully think or talk something through — it also means slow and measured, the pace of this kind of careful decision making. If you chose deliberately, you make a very conscious, well-thought-through choice.
The verb deliberate ends with an "ate" sound — at the end of a trial, after the evidence is presented, the ...

Build – Day 1 from Terificreations's Weblog

Over the last few days I’ve been in my sewing room making four patches from Northcott Microchips, 2 1/2” squares, and piecing a quilt top using some Michael Miller 5” squares. I’m not quite sure yet what I’m doing with the four patches or the small quilt top but what I do know is that… Continue reading Build – Day 1

word of the year quilt from Ellyn's Place

Every year I make a quilt for my word of the year. This is my eighth year doing it! Hard to believe. Each word has had a special meaning for me and I love looking back at my past quilts.
This year's word is journey. My original plan was to take a huge airplane trip with my oldest daughter. We have been planning to go on a mission trip to Swaziland together. It will be a great opportunity to meet the children I sponsor and to serve in the communities there. Unfortunately, my recovery from recent surgeries is going ...

Word Of The Year 2018 from Quilt Paint Create

This year’s word rose out of things that happened last year.
My word in 2017 was open. The beginnings of change started in late 2016 and I thought that open meant I needed to keep an open mind. Life doesn’t always change in ways that we would choose for ourselves. Sometimes we just have to do the best we can.
Although the first major change was expected, late last year there was a major shift at work that I had not expected. My stress level went way down and the time I spent at work drastically decreased. Once ...

Happy New Year friends! Boy am I ready for 2018. Don't get me wrong, I had much to be thankful for in 2017. We kicked the year off with a big party for my awesome dad's 80th birthday, hubby and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a California baseball trip, there were family weddings, babies to celebrate, trips to awesome places and wonderful things to create. But the year ended on a difficult note for me, with surgeries, complications and frustration. I'm ready for healing and a new beginning! Who's with me?

2018 Word of the Year from Terificreations's Weblog

As a word of the year Gratitude was a good one. I am grateful for the experience of 2017. Creativity is slowly returning. The Quilted Block of the Month Started (with big plans to continue in 2018). A few teaching opportunities. Learning about embroidery. Having a spouse who loves me deeply. One of the considerations … Continue reading 2018 Word of the Year
