Vor etwas mehr als einer Woche ging ich zusammen mit 5 anderen Frauen Skifahren. Wir übernachteten 2x in der Erezsässhütte bei Klosters. Es war einfach genial. Das Wetter machte mit und es hatte sehr wenig Leute. Wir hatten es sehr gut zusammen und haben sehr viel gelacht, was will man mehr?

This is what happens when snow is predicted in the south; naturally there's the insanity that occurs as everyone runs for bread and milk at the grocery stores but, then, the conversation turns to anticipated snowfall amounts and, ultimately, how long folks expect to be stranded. I'm not too worried: we have firewood enough to last and I have an adequate supply of books and stitching projects

Zuerst einmal möchte ich all meinen Lesern und Leserinnen ein gutes neues Jahr wünschen und hoffe, dass euer Neujahr auch so gut begonnen hat wie bei mir. Gestern war ich zusammen mit einer Freundin auf meiner ersten Schneeschuhtour. Es war einfach herrlich!

First of all I want to wish all my readers a Happy New Year and hope that your year also started as well as mine did. Yesterday I have been on my first snowshoe tour with a friend. It just war marvelous!

I love Valentine’s Day! Do you know why? After you take down the Christmas decorations, the house feels a little bare and not as festive.  Ik was al druk doende ganzen te fotograferen toen mijn oog viel op deze Houtsnip die veel dichterbij aan het foerageren was. Bijna over het hoofd gezien!

Nou stond de IJssel de afgelopen anderhalve week zó hoog dat het Worpplantsoen onderwater liep.

's zomers kun je daar picknicken, naar muziek luisteren of gewoon lekker luieren. 

Maar nu het gevroren had kun je er dus schaatsen en sleeën!

While we were gone away this Moth Orchid which has lived as a foliage-only plant in our bathroom for the past few years sent up a flower stalk! I was shocked and amazed. Maybe we need to leave home more often! I don't do anything special except water it every week; once a month I sprinkle a few crystals of orchid food into the watering solution but that's it. I had NO  very little hope of it ever

Maar je kan het sowieso al heel simpel een beetje anders maken...zet m op z'n kop!

En zo goedmoedig als de standaard sneeuwpop er qua uitstraling uitziet, zo nors maar ook hip ziet de volgende sneeuwpop er uit... als een hippe punker.

Yesterday's post about Gregory finishing up his Star Wars quilt was only accompanied by a few photographs. There was no shortage of them, choosing which ones to post was the hardest. Gregory is high energy and taking breaks, frequently, was part of the strategy to get everything done. At one point I happened to look up and realized that there was a standoff occurring on the cutting table! I

Welcome! Mr. Snowman is all quilted, bound and is guarding the door to the sewing room for the winter months. This was a wonderful Country Threads pattern to stitch up, you can find it here. I used a straight-line quilting approach for a quick and easy finish. Somehow I made twice as many flying geese units than I needed (?!!), they were relegated to the back. And, speaking of people at the door.
