Scrap Happy Saturday - Orange RSC Blocks Done from Sew........This Is My Blog

I got my Orange Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks done early this month.  Good for me, because we're headed to Seattle in a few days, and I won't be taking my sewing machine with me this time.

Once again, I had a limited stash to work with .....

..... but I did it.  Sawtooth Stars, Windmills, and 60 orange bricks to add to the rest of the RSC blocks.

Would you look at that beautiful ironing board?  Re-covering it has been on my to-do list for too long.  The last time I did it I used a double thickness of muslin ...

RSC-Purple Goal and OMG Goal Met from Sew........This Is My Blog

I was so busy sewing in July that I forgot to blog!  I set my goals for the month and posted them on the 5th, forgot all about blogging, and got to work.  I managed to dig up a few more purples for RSC2022 by looking through my Asian prints.  There weren't many there either, but my Sawtooth Star and Windmill blocks are done as are the 60 brick blocks.

My One Monthly Goal for July was to finish the One Block Wonder that has been on my UFO list for a while.  And I did it!  I had ...

May RSC Green Goals Met! from Sew........This Is My Blog

This has been an interesting month.  Partly because I finally overcame all the obstacles and finished Natalie's quilt (Hooray!), but mostly because I couldn't keep track of what day it was, and the month was almost over before I got around to making my green Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks.  Green, any shade, is my favorite color.  (I'm especially partial to chartreuse!).  So I had lots of greens in my stash to work with and got all my windmills, stars .....

..... and bricks made in one afternoon.  Whew!

I don't want you to think I was busy doing ...

RSC-Pink Goals Met! from Sew........This Is My Blog

It's almost the end of another month and time to report on April's RSC2022 progress.  The color for April is pink, and even though pink is not very high on my favorite colors list, I've managed to find enough pink scraps to get my blocks made.  Here are my Windmill and Sawtooth Star blocks.

I added a third monthly RSC project which I haven't mentioned before now.  I want to use up as many scraps as I can in this challenge, so in January I found a stack of sixty red 2.5" by 4.5 ...

Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Red for January from Sew........This Is My Blog

The first time I participated in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge was also my last time, and I didn't do great.  Well, I guess it depends on how you look at it.  I made it my goal to make a donation baby quilt each month, and I did make three.  That's not too shabby, but I was disappointed that I didn't do more.  For 2022 I'm taking a little more reasonable approach and just making blocks in the color of the month to use in projects towards the end of the year.

Angela at "So Scrappy" announced ...

Windmill Quilt Block from Expect Moore

When looking for windmill quilt blocks, most of the blocks I found were more “pinwheel” than windmill. With this month’s theme being “International,” I wanted a windmill quilt block that looked like it could be a “molen” on the “polder.” I had so much fun with this “spin” on the International theme… be sure to […]

Windmill progress from Ravelly1

At the beginning of 2021 my wacky sisters challenged me to get back to sewing, quilting or just get off the old sofa and DO  SOMETHING!!
I did get the message but am a bit slow in getting things done.  Here's my version of the top of a windmill and barn just at dusk......I don't have a setting sun directions or anything else at this time....it may not even happen.....ssshhhhhhhh!!! Let's not mention this to the girls.
What's everyone else up to these days??

august goals from Making A Lather

My One monthly goal for August includes making a top from my letters for my quote quilt.

I want to finish Jametown landing, which is a top at this point, and, I want to quilt and finish my windmill quilt.

I want to find blue ridge beauty and figure out what it needs to become a quilt.
I participated in a swap last year, and I want to start piecing it. It was our version of circa 1880.

This may be pretty optimistic for the dog days of summer, but, I am sure I will at least make progress. All ...

windmill top from Making A Lather

Three or four years ago, we went to Florida for Christmas. I took my featherweight and a project. In the evening, when we were tired, we watched tv, and I sewed. I finished the project I brought about half way through our vacation. I knew I would want something to do in the evenings. We found a Joann fabric store, and, I bought a jelly roll. and some background fabric. This was the pattern, I worked on making.

I had all the blocks done before heading home. This is the second project I took with me to retreat. All I ...

retreat from Making A Lather

Today is a sleep in your own bed retreat here in town. We have a great place to hold the retreat, and, it will be a fundraiser for student scholarships. We each will have a table and are pitching in a soup for food. I am excited to be going, and will have time with my quilting friends.
My theory is that it is a bonus sewing time and I don't plan to work on anything that I have as part of my goals. So, I have reached deep into the ufo closet to find today's  projects.
The ...
