Moving in to March from QUilting By-You

It’s time for our monthly UFO check in! How are you coming with yours? I am still plugging along and will be really happy to get this one off my list of things to do! You may remember me talking about this one in previous posts….it is a flower of the month series with fabric designed by Ro Gregg and patterns by Nancy Mahoney. I might have that backwards, but that is where I am going to stay. These came in kits with instructions and are from 2008….yes, 2008. I thought it would be easy to do ...

Ragged Sunflower- Larger Than Life — Paper piecing, quilt or wall hanging pattern from Wisonsin Quilting

I posted this pattern several years ago. It’s time to bring it back to the forefront. Below you will see my original text saying “You Don’t Know What You’ve Got Till It’s Gone.” Now it is so true in our current worldview. A sunflower that’s “larger than life….” Make this pattern and contemplate. Sunflower $8 pattern (suggested size is 32″ 42″ with modifications for 40″ x 40″ but it also prints in such a way that you can scale it to any size on your printer.) It looks complex, but is just a ...

Love the collection of bells!

Love the second one too … I would love to find a very big bag of real bells in assorted sizes and hang them in a window or on a screen door.

challenge and a finish from Making A Lather

I decided to participate in 2021 table scraps trt challenge.  I have a few table runner/ toppers that I have bought over the years, that I would like to make, but, they aren't part of any goal setting that I have been doing. It isn't part of any finishing goals ( they aren't started) or before I die goals ( I have time). They are just hanging around saying pick me, pick me. The challenge will give me a chance to think about, and, hopefully, finish a few projects.

This month, I picked an easy project that was already ...

Hello Kitty! from Magpie Quilts

Ii have a repeat customer that loves quilts and quilting but is unable to do it for herself because of chronic health issues, so every so often, I do a commission quilt for her. This time it was a Hello Kitty quilt.

I selected a few designs and adjusted the colors on the embroidery to the purple my client requested. I chose bow tie blocks because Hello Kitty is always with a bow on her head.
I had a fat quarter pack of some purple prints that I thought would work great as a piano key border, but it just ...

Modern X from Liz Makes Crafts

I'm asked a lot what I do with my finished quilts. The truth is ... not much. I've given a few away to family and friends, and I usually have one draping on the couch that I snuggle under (and which I swap out once every few months). I don't even sleep under my own quilts! I know, I know ... but I don't have much of a say in that.

So I'm excited that this new quilt I've just finished, I do have a use for! It is a wallhanging that is going to go ...

Unintended ~ A Mini Haphazard from Liz Makes Crafts

If there's one part of the quilting process that I hate more than anything ... it's loading a quilt onto the longarm. After quilting Modern X, I realized since Modern X isn't a very big quilt, I have a little bit of room to put another quilt on there! That's what I call a freebie, since I didn't have to load it.

The only quilt top I have that actually fits is my mini Haphazard quilt that I made late last year. I named this quilt Unintended because it truly was unintended. The fabric came out ...

MINI BLOCK QAL | Finishing Touches from 3and3quarters

VERSION #1 PATTERN SHEET: MiniBlockQAL – FinalLayout
VERSION #2 PATTERN SHEET: MiniBlockQALFinish V2

It’s been a long time coming, I know, but the very last tutorial in my Mini Block Sampler Quilt Along is here! Finally!!

It’s been a long old road with this one but I couldn’t be happier with how everything has come together to create a beautifully quirky little quilt-slash-wallhanging!

As you may’ve noticed, I’ve provided two different quilt top layouts that you can choose from. I decided I wanted to do something just that little bit different. I shuffled my nine sweet ...

 Pics Taken Outside
The pure saturation of color is enhanced by the sun. The free motion quilting also shows up better outside than inside .

Back of Quilt

The quilt is heavily quilt, puckering it every which way.

The wall hanging has a wooden lath enclosed in a hanging sleeve ready for immediate display. However, the lath can be removed and the quilt can be used as a lap quilt, table topper, baby quilt, etc., making it even more ...
