in and out and again . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I had high hopes for February, but they didn't carry me very far, huh? And then I went and had surgery on my left shoulder yesterday, which means March will be very hit or miss . . .
one day post-op...huge, football-like shoulder pad
the rotator cuff tear, halfway repaired
Because I don't enjoy typing one-handed, and my laptop doesn't auto-correct or do speech-to-text!  LOL!  I know, I know, first world problems!  :)

I purposely scheduled my surgery for the end of February so that I could attend our Stitcher's retreat on the 20th.  What a glorious long weekend ...

My Valentine Quilts from Loose Threads

I'm not sure where the year has gone.  It is mid February already, and January is a blur.   I'm getting ready to put my Valentine's quilts and table topper away for the year and thought I'd share them with you.

This is my Valentine String quilt.  I just made this one day while I was making string blocks out of my red and white scraps.  You can read more about this quilt and see my EQ drawing here.

Here is the quilt after being quilted by my long arm quilter.  He quilted a heart design that ...

Stamping for Safelight from From My Carolina Home

Valentines day is this week, and of course that means stamping time!  I like having a place for my creativity to go, so again this year, I decided to make little bags for Safelight like I did last year – Valentine Goodies for Safelight   I cannot imagine what this day must be like for someone who is a victim of domestic violence.  I hope that this project will bring a smile on a day that is supposed to celebrate love and affection.  I got out a pack of pretty salmon pink cardstock and began cutting cards.

Valentine Tablescape from From My Carolina Home

February brings thoughts of red hearts and romance, so it is time for a Valentine tablescape. Once again this year, I’ll be linking up with a group of talented bloggers to bring you an array of ideas for your Valentine enjoyment in time to use the ideas in your own home.  Last year my focus was on Japanese culture (Japanese Inspired February), and my tablescape was definitely Asian influenced – Aka Kuroguro tablescape. The previous year, I did my Valentine tablescape with a French wine theme in gold tones for a Romantic Table for Two.  This year, I thought I ...

Stamping February from From My Carolina Home

Stamping in this Valentine month naturally centers on hearts and love, and I am so lucky to still have my sweetheart.  But, for many, Valentine’s day isn’t a day to celebrate, particularly those who have been betrayed by one they loved.  Perhaps, though, if I could make something small and inspirational, the day might be one that brings a smile to the residents of the domestic violence shelter, Safelight. Using white lunch bags, some inspirational stamps and a heart roller, I set to work creating 21 treat bags with cards. The inspirational message stamps in this pic that ...

Sewing in the Rain from Gray Barn Designs

It was a rainy weekend here in Ohio and I was recovering from a terrible cold.  I was down but not out!  I just sewed and sewed and sewed.  Here are some of my masterpieces (if I do say so myself)!

I made this Sweet Heart Mug Rug for my friend who loves cats (you can download our  free pattern by clicking on this link:  Sweet Heart Mug Rug).  Aren’t these cats the cutest?  They are left over from some Cotton + Steel fabric scraps I had on hand.

ARE YOUR READY FOR FEBRUARY? from ATTIC WINDOW QUILT SHOP

It's almost February.  Are you ready for Valentine's Day?  I had a pattern from Barb at Bejeweled Quilts and decided to make a table topper.  Also, I wanted to do some applique and this was the perfect project for that.  The pattern called for the hearts to be fusible but I had to use my Freezer Paper Method. Sorry about the dark photo.  It's been a dreary day here.
Here is how they looked after they were stitched down.  Now if I can only decide how to quilt it.
This is a closeup of the hearts.  I ...
