What I’m Making: Cast Iron Skillet Dessert from Jo's Country Junction

I saw this recipe on Instagram. I read through it and just had to give it a try. It was one of those so easy it’s too good to be true recipes. Something about melting butter in a cast iron pan and then dumping the batter over the top of the butter sounded so weird …

Cancer Update from Jo's Country Junction

I thought I’d pop in and say hi! I’ve been getting lots of messages and cards. Thank you so much. Rather than update everyone individually I thought I would do one here. I’m feeling okay. I am still itchy. My mouth is still uncomfortable…my spirits are still good. Admittedly, I occasionally get a little whiney …

1001 little pieces from Quilting and More...

Okay, I exaggerated, but it certainly does seem at times as though it’s that many! I’m making a new quilt, and one of the steps is to make 140 little 9-patch blocks that measure 3.5″ unfinished — and that’s for the throw sized version of this pattern. As you may be able to tell, I’m […]

Give it a Whirl! from Words & Stitches

The Give It A Whirl Blog Hop is this week thanks to the lovely Carol at Just Let Me Quilt. We were challenged to use spinny things.   Pinwheels, Dresden Plates, whatever brought the motion, you know?

Well,  I knew I had the perfect to lurking around for this one. This was a project that started with one of my oldest UFO’s, the Dresden center.  This was my very first applique block from the 1980’s. Later I started adding borders,  but the quilt grew a bit longer than wide into a sort of extra long twin sized quilt.  Or ...

Easter Egg Hunt EQ8 Tutorial from On Point Quilter

The weather is getting warmer.  And spring is getting closer.  I loved playing with some spring colored fabrics in creating this fun new block which has two quilt options.

There are three components to the whimsical/block:
  1. A pieced background (completed in EasyDraw).
  2. Eggs drafted as Applique motifs.
  3. Easter bunny obtained from the EQ8 Block Library and incorporated in the combo-block.

Make sure snap to grid is turned on with grid snap increments at 36 x 36.  That will give you very clean cutting ...

PQ 15.5 Wearable from Words & Stitches

Last year, I made my first quilt from my husband’s shirts as a PQ challenge and I had hoped to do the second one this week.  However,  life and sick kitties interfered.  So, last night,  I took some of the tiniest shirt scraps and made a little log cabin Christmas ornament.

For now,  it’s hanging on my bulletin board but I think I’ll make one to go with each quilt.

Happy quilting,

Beth

P.S. Both Winnie and Gizmo are doing OK now.
