Easter Egg Hunt EQ8 Tutorial from On Point Quilter

The weather is getting warmer.  And spring is getting closer.  I loved playing with some spring colored fabrics in creating this fun new block which has two quilt options.

There are three components to the whimsical/block:
  1. A pieced background (completed in EasyDraw).
  2. Eggs drafted as Applique motifs.
  3. Easter bunny obtained from the EQ8 Block Library and incorporated in the combo-block.

Easter Egg Hunt Design

Pieced Background

Start a new block> Pieced and Applique>Easy Plus Applique.

Make sure snap to grid is turned on with grid snap increments at 36 x 36.  That will give you very clean cutting ...

PQ 15.5 Wearable from Words & Stitches

Last year, I made my first quilt from my husband’s shirts as a PQ challenge and I had hoped to do the second one this week.  However,  life and sick kitties interfered.  So, last night,  I took some of the tiniest shirt scraps and made a little log cabin Christmas ornament.

For now,  it’s hanging on my bulletin board but I think I’ll make one to go with each quilt.

Happy quilting,

Beth

P.S. Both Winnie and Gizmo are doing OK now.

What I’m Making: Black-Eyed Pea/Celery Salad from Jo's Country Junction

A long time ago when our kids were all little and I likely still had one in diapers, I did a big splurge for me at the time. I was in the grocery store and they were selling church cookbooks from a local church. I bought one. This one… The cookbook is likely one of …

Sudden Changes (And Gratitude) from Wedding Dress Blue

On January 15 Husband came inside after running the snowblower and said that he thought we might need to make an appointment with a cardiologist. He hadn’t been feeling well lately–tired and such–and we had attributed it to fatigue and stress. However, his father had his first heart attack at 40. Five heart attacks and a massive stroke later, he was dead 10 days before his 65th birthday.

I looked up a phone number. Husband called. After telling his story, the person on the phone said he should hold, and he was transferred. A woman introducing herself ...

Project Quilting 15.4 -Hourglass from Words & Stitches

This week’s prompt was the hourglass…block, shape or other interpretation.   This was an easy one for me. I love hourglass blocks.   The accuquilt makes it so fast and easy to cut the 1/4-square triangles I need for the blocks.

I had a need for a doll quilt to gift to a new big sister.  I decided to go with colors that matched the baby quilt.   I used the Accuquilt to cut a fast bunch of triangles. They went together so quickly!  I shrunk down the quilting design I used on the baby quilt, too.   I’m loving ...
