Sunday Stash June 26, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I started quilting Punkin Patch and hope to finish it this week. It’s not a large quilt, and the pumpkins are already quilted.

I chose the next mindless sewing project, a shirt out of some double gauze I bought a few years ago. I also chose the next not so mindless project.

I pieced the blocks ten years ago and stamped leaf and various other shapes on them. I also stamped leaves on fabric pieces and pieced some blocks I didn’t stamp. I’ve always thought of this as The Wall Quilt, but ...

This, That and a Few Sleeping Over... from From the Strawberry Patch...

We had a busy end to last week with a few guests in the house to liven up our otherwise boring routine day-to-day schedule. An after-dinner concert is certainly out of the ordinary around here, but it really classes up the place! We had dinner one night at Cracker Barrel, these two love, love, love some Chicken and Dumplings! Also spending some time with us right now is a our grand-dog, Buddy.

My numbers changed!

I finished Open Dialogue yesterday.

I’m happy with the results. This quilt started as an experiment in using fabric scraps in a mosaic format. I fused the scraps to a larger piece of paper backed fusible without sewing them together. Then I cut up the fusible.

The idea came from something I saw online, but I don’t remember what. The technique used in the inspiration piece was completely different from my technique. Next time I need to take notes to help me remember.

May 2022 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

My OMG challenge for May was to finish quilting Open Dialogue.

I had my doubts when the thread started shredding about a third of the way through. I ended up changing the needle (both a new one and a different type) and switching to a smaller spool cap. That seemed to fix the problem, although humidity might have been a factor. Today the AC is running and the house is much cooler. I find my Pfaff tempermental about humidity.

The outlined motifs are my favorite part of the quilting.

I’m linking to Elm Street Quilts for the finish party.

No change in the numbers. I am avoiding the Memorial Day sales. Tempting, but no room to store anything else. My drawers runneth over.

Quilting moves forward on Open Dialogue. I am loving the outlined motifs.

I will add this idea to my list of things to play with in the future.

May 2022 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

I’m sitting here watching the rain pour down wishing for a warm sunny spring instead of whatever this is. On the plus side, the weather encourages me to stay inside and sew.

I finished my April OMG, the Margo Handbag.

I have too many projects going again. No more adding projects to the active rotation until I finish a few.

Project One: I’ve stitched about 25% of My Sewing Treasures by Bobby G Designs.

Project Two: The band sampler will return from time out once my Guild demonstrates the stitches for the next two rows at the meeting ...

April 2022 Short List And OMG from Quilt Paint Create

I finished my March OMG, catching up on the band sampler. I also finished Roads. Finishes are good because they make room for new projects.

The band sampler is on a break. My Guild isn’t demonstrating the stitches for the next two rows until May.

Project One: I’m working on a kit called My Sewing Treasures by Bobby G Designs.

Project Two: I will continue working on Open Dialogue.

Project Three: I’m starting the Margo Handbag by Lazy Girl Designs. The instructions come in a ten page booklet. My OMG will be to get through the first ...

Sunday Stash March 13, 2022 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in or out this week.

Big decision yesterday – what to work on next?

I spent time looking at the five projects in the “do next” bin. Then I pulled out a few from other storage areas. So many choices. Two went back into storage, three went back in the “do next” bin and two made it to the design wall. I have to reevaluate two in the “do next” bin. Hard to believe, but I may not have everything I need for those.

The active quilt is Open Dialogue. Last time I posted a picture it looked like ...

First Finishes from From the Strawberry Patch...

This one, a block-of-the-month from 2015 that was known as "Creative Options", became a top last year when the blocks were released from their storage bin where they'd been languishing for six+ years. I used creative liberties in setting it together, mine looks nothing like the finished shop sample from almost seven years ago! I loaded it up on Snowbird and quilted it over the weekend. This is,

The December 2021 Short List from Quilt Paint Create

November was a good month. I finished the exchange ornament, NOEL, made kitchen curtains and a nightgown. The nightgown wasn’t even on the list.

The December list will be scaled back. It’s more motivating to have a few projects and finish them than a lot of projects and finish nothing. It also leaves room for spontaneous projects.

The Short List categories are UFO, garment, original design, hand work, finishing, classes and other. I’ve used this system for 8 years to keep me focused. The categories change as my goals and interests change. Categories with nothing in process ...

No change in the numbers.

I finished the BOM feathered star blocks. Unfortunately, I count fabric out when the quilt is finished.

There were two of them, both 18 inches.

Sewing them was much easier than it looks. I opted to press almost all the seams open to manage the bulk. I’ve recently started pressing open, and I’m sorry I didn’t start doing it years ago. It’s a game changer.

The November 2021 Short List from Quilt Paint Create

It’s list time again! I finished two projects in October, Waugh Street Christmas and the BOM blocks. Once again I’m without a piecing project. When the list opens up I find it hard to pick what to work on next. Too many choices!

The Short List categories are UFO, garment, original design, hand work, finishing, classes and other. I’ve used this system for 8 years to keep me focused. The categories change as my goals and interests change. Categories with nothing in process will not be listed, only active categories.

I finished two projects in September, the Winter Pines runner and Noel, and had one stitched piece framed. Other projects moved forward, making it a good month

The September 2021 Short List from Quilt Paint Create

I finished two items in August, the circle challenge and the November BOM blocks. I just realized the BOM wasn’t on last month’s list. Sneaky how it cut to the front of the line.

No change in the numbers. It should really go without saying.

I sewed and trimmed all the HSTs this week for the Stars In The Night blocks.

I need to pick another name for this quilt. The original had a dark background, mine not so much. You definitely won’t be thinking night when you look at my quilt.

Maybe this week I can sew the blocks. Anything more complicated than sewing squares together seems to take me forever.

Sunday Stash August 22, 2021 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

After much debating, I decided to resume piecing the Stars In The Night BOM. I wanted something I could work on 20 minutes at a time on week nights. With no such project I spend my nights stitching. That’s done wonders for my stitching wish list, but it doesn’t use fabric or reduce the long list of quilts either in process or planned.

Having ignored it for years, I spent a good while figuring out where I left off and how I wanted to approach it going forward. If I hadn’t scaled ...

Just Two More Rows from Heart Desire Creations

This quilt should be named Forever! The quilt top was finished about three years ago. My brilliant idea was to hand quilt it with embroidery cotton doing a big stitch. I stitched, stitched, and stitched some more. The project got put away for quite a while. Finally, I pulled it out and have been determined to get it done! Unfortunately, I couldn’t do much stitching at once because it caused my hand to cramp. The quilt was being handled so much the outside ends were getting sloppy so I trimmed and bound it. There was enough quilted that I ...

Finishing Up... from From the Strawberry Patch...

I've been trying to wrap up some lingering projects-partially-done by getting them quilted, bound and ready for finishing. When I get on a roll it's really not that hard, I just need to keep focused and on track. This is "Fun~fetti" after trimming up. It's one from a couple of years ago where I tried my hand at the split-nine patch using low volume fabrics. I felt it was really much too blah, so
