Sunday Stash January 18, 2026 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week.

I finished Winter Tree, my art quilt group’s January challenge.

I talked about the idea and the construction in the last two posts.  From there, I added beads to suggest snowflakes and used a dark binding as a frame.  I also added a fence made from railroad yarn that I painted white and then gray.  The original yarn was too bright and didn’t fit the color scheme.  The yarn is so delicate I hand stitched it down.  The quilt is about 11″ x 13”.

This quilt was my January OMG and the first ...

Challenge Details Part 2 from Quilt Paint Create

In my last post, I shared the AI generated Art Prompt that was the basis for my challenge quilt.  I used some suggestions and ignored others, and put my own spin on what I used.

I kept the suggested color palette, but didn’t use solid fabric.  No surprise there- I never use solids.  Instead of a pine tree, I took a picture of a tree in the backyard and used the photo as a reference.

The suggestion of texture surprised me.  I wouldn’t have thought to go there.  I limited the texture to the ground.  I tried using ...

Sunday Stash January 4, 2026 from Quilt Paint Create

Welcome to the first Stash Report of 2026!

Everyone gets to start over with nice shiny zero balances.  Did you hit your usage goal last year?  Do you have stash goals for this year?

My goal for 2026 is to use more than I buy.  I expect to add fabric this year as I am out of light yardage in multiple colors.  Scraps will get me by on smaller projects but less so on larger ones.  We’ll see how the year plays out.

I’m still working on the challenge project.  There was a lot of trial and error ...

January OMG and Beginnings from Quilt Paint Create

Happy New Year!  Wishing you health and happiness in the new year.

I’m not one to recap the prior year, but I did finish more projects than I expected.  Now I’m ready to look forward.

For my own benefit, I’m taking stock of what is in process and what has been neglected.  If you don’t know where you’ve been, how do you know where you’re going?  That, and a year from now I won’t remember where I started.

In have two stitch pieces in progress, Fairy Tales Live on Roofs (RTO kit)

and ...

Sunday Stash and Short List January 7, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

I have no fabric movement to report.

Time got away from me and I’m adding the Short List/OMG to this post. January is always a busy month at work. I scaled back the list because of that.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I change things up as my goals and interests change.

Project 1 (stitching): Gather & Give Thanks, pattern by Diane Arthurs of Imaginating. I’ll either finish it this month or early next month.

Project 2 (Original): The nameless tree quilt. It would ...

A Holiday in the Sewing Room from Quilt Paint Create

I made good use of the holiday by spending most of it in the sewing room. We don’t have family close by, which makes holidays free days with better food.

I’ve wanted to rearrange my sewing room for a while now. Long story short, the sewing table my husband and I built to fit both my sewing and storage needs has not been in my sewing room for years. It’s now back in the sewing room, and a dresser and the portable table are gone. It gives me much needed storage and more open space.

It also ...

Sunday Stash December 17, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

The sum of all my sewing was one Traffic Jam block.

I did do some cleaning and purging to make room to start working on this quilt.

And this quilt.

I’m struggling to figure out where I left off with this one. It has several more branches than it did in this picture, and has been waiting patiently for me since March.

Fabric In: 35.875 yards

Fabric out: 9.125 yards

Net Fabric In: 26.75 yards

Sunday Stash December 10, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

For various reasons, I did not get my OMG/Short List posted this week before the linky closed. I’m posting a shortened version here.

Project 1 (stitching): Gather & Give Thanks, pattern by Diane Arthurs of Imaginating. It’s coming along.

Project 2 (Original): The nameless tree quilt. It’s time to get back to it.

Project 3 (charity): Traffic Jam quilt, pattern by Pat Sloan. I’m sewing a block here and there while working on other projects.

Project 4 (UFO): Remember Me, a member quilt from a group I belonged to many years ...

March 2023 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

When March rolls around I think of Spring. The days are longer and I want to spend time outside. The weather doesn’t always cooperate, but a girl can hope.

I finished both the pinwheel quilt and the table runner in February. It always feels good to add new projects to the list.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I continually change the categories as my goals and interests change.

Project 1 (stitching): The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. The border stitched up faster than the solid ...

The September 2021 Short List from Quilt Paint Create

I finished two items in August, the circle challenge and the November BOM blocks. I just realized the BOM wasn’t on last month’s list. Sneaky how it cut to the front of the line.

The Short List categories are UFO, garment, original design, hand work, finishing, classes and other. I’ve used this system for 7 years to keep me focused. The categories change as my goals and interests change. Categories with nothing in process will not be listed, only active categories.

Original Design – I think about Open Dialogue often, but it probably won’t see the light ...

Quilt Reveal: Thirties Boro from High Road Quilter

May I introduce you to my mini quilt of the month for the month of August?

Last year, I was working with my thirties yo-yo quilt.  It is still a work in progress, but in the meantime, I had some precious scraps that will not work for that quilt.  There are so many wonderful ways to use the scraps, but I decided to make a boro quilt.

Here's the video that I used. I even pressed the quilted quilt, which I don't normally do.

Collages have a tendency to look awful until they are finished. It is a ...

Tree Quilts from High Road Quilter

In February, I curated some red and white quilts to show you.  A virtual High Road Museum, if you will.  In French, that would be Musée de la Grande Route, which sounds fabulous to me, so welcome back to my museum. I don't know French so if that isn't right, please let me know.

Since I showed you a finished tree quilt yesterday, I decided to find my collection of tree quilts to show you.  I added a label for that to some of my older posts, and hope that didn't mess up your blog feed.

This ...
