The Runaround from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! It was a busy day yesterday with more harrowing driving on these Dallas-Fort Worth highways. We had some errands to run and then dinner with a friend as our plan for the day. With much to accomplish in the morning, we were on the road early. It was raining, of course. The weather was pretty awful for most of the day, eventually culminating in a big wind storm. Today...blue skies and sunshine.

But let's get back to our day of errands. Heading out, Fort Worth loomed ahead.

Before we country mice headed into the ...

Grapevine, Texas from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I hope you slept well. We find ourselves in Grapevine, Texas, this morning. It looks like a fun town to snoop around.

Backing up to our departure from Whitney yesterday, I had plenty of time for some slow stitching. The kitten's head is finished.

Now I've moved my hoop to encompass most of the body.

That's where I'll pick it up today sometime.

We waited as long as we thought we should in order to arrive at check-in time in Grapevine. I didn't take many pictures yesterday because it rained most ...

Seeing the Light from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! So y'all are probably wanting to know if the clouds cleared so we could see the eclipse. I'm as happy as I can be to report that we did! It happened in the sweetest spot of a break in the clouds. When I left you yesterday, it was all clouded over, and we despaired about being able to see anything.

The eclipse wasn't supposed to begin in our area until around 12:38 p.m. I had a few things I wanted to do in the morning. At the top of my list ...

Eclipse Day!!! from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Maybe I've never said this before, but I give names to all of our trips. Mainly, it's to create a folder for storing images on my computer. Every trip has its own folder with a bunch of sub-folders for different locations. This trip has been given the name "Eclipse Trip." Our trip to Alaska next year...50th state, 50th year of marriage...has been dubbed the Fifty-Fifty Trip. I hope that doesn't mean our chances of actually going are only 50-50. But anyway...all of that to say that the day the trip ...

Wildflowers: Up Close and Personal from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're hanging out here in Georgetown until after lunch. Our next stop in Whitney, Texas, is just about 120 miles down the road. Check-in there isn't until 3:00 p.m. We don't need to leave our spot in Georgetown until 2:00 p.m., and so it all works out. We can take our time this morning. We've had breakfast. I've played all my word games. Now I'm checking in with you guys, and then I can do some slow-stitching. It's going to be a low-key morning, despite ...

Quilt Shop: Poppy Quilt 'n Sew; Georgetown, Texas from ... Cat Patches

Hello again, my friends. Well...I have time this morning, so let's just get to this. I visited Poppy Quilt 'n Sew yesterday. I'd already scoped it out on Google, but then it came recommended by several of you. So, okay...let's go.

Here's how it looks coming through the front door. It was a friendly store. Everyone through the door (including me) was greeted with a robust "Welcome to Poppy!"

Looking to my right, there were a few sewing machines for sale.

Walking a little ways to the left, there was a brightly-lit classroom. Just ...

Wildflower Wonderland from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The day went differently than expected yesterday. We ended up doing more fun stuff than expected. Also, the visit to the Inner Space Cavern is back on for today, and so the whole itinerary has been set right.

As it turns out, we weren't able to obtain the part we needed for our ailing slide topper. We'll catch up with it down the road in a couple of days. I didn't explain this when I mentioned it yesterday. Honestly, sometimes I get tired of talking about these little inconveniences. But this is what ...

Wonderful Wildflowers from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. What an absolutely delightful day of driving we had yesterday. I only hoped to see the Texas Bluebonnets, and boy, oh boy. Did we ever see Bluebonnets. I have lots of pictures of every blooming thing to show you today, so let's get started.

We left Fort Stockton under the watchful snoopervision of this woofie in the RV parked across from us. He looks as if he means business.

About 30 miles down the road, we left I-10 for the first time since Arizona. It was nice to get off the interstate. We took US ...

Moving On from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. If you thought you were going to get a break from my incessant prattle this morning, then you will be disappointed. I woke up early enough that I have time to write. This park in Fort Stockton is not too far off the freeway. Somehow, it's less noisy than one might expect, and we've slept well while we're here. Kitties usually have us waking up pretty early in the morning. I believe even they have slept in these past mornings.

The kitties have liked it here. Sadie has figured out that if she ...

A Day in the Life from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's our last day in Fort Stockton today. Tomorrow's drive will be the longest of our trip at around 323 miles. Happily, I believe we'll go through a section of Texas where we'll be able to see the Texas Bluebonnets. It's high up on my bucket list. They are so pretty, and I've wanted to see them for a long time. I found this image in the public domain. I'm hoping I can see something just like this.

Let the games BEGIN from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I think I'm almost back to normal time, but I'm still tired in the morning, so always a little bit behind; I should be good tomorrow.

OK—so what's with all the dreaming? The sleep I'm getting is deep because I'm dreaming, which I probably do every night, but I just don't remember the dreams.

I remember the dreams, and it's weird how it takes events in a day and mixes them up. The last two nights have both been dreams about quilting. A friend mentioned a quilt she was making the other ...
