Joyful in July +TGIFF from Sew Preeti Quilts

It is July and the dog days of summer are upon us.

Me: Must be time for Christmas!
Paul: Christmas? In July?
Me: Christmas in July. It is a statement, not a question.
Paul: Christmas in July is a thing?
Me: For quilters, yes it is. This is when we start our Christmas projects to have them completed by the holiday.

Meet Joyful.

Scattered Squares Lap Quilt and TGIFF from Goer

Hello friends! If you had a hard time finding TGIFF with me this week, I apologize. My web serving was affected by the hurricane in Florida and I had to temporarily host through Instagram (which is a little unorthodox for TGIFF). It's Friday morning my time and the web service is back up so I'm sharing my project here now. I hope you'll link up your finishes below for TGIFF.

I *finally* finished a quilt this week that has been in the works for quite a while. It was quilted by @threadedquilting back in January 2020 and ...

Teal TGIFF from Goer

Thanks for joining me for TGIFF. I am happy to finally be sharing my MQG mini swap quilt that I made for Margaret.

I started with some improv piecing including some wonky flying geese, ending in a minimalist, geometric pieced quilt top. Then I went to town with free motion quilting. I really enjoy trying a variety of free motion motifs on small projects, where the commitment is much smaller that if I am working on a large quilt.

My process for free motion quilting this piece was very organic, choosing each motif as I went. I had no overall ...

Friday check in: two blue ribbons and a quick start/finish from With Strings Attached

As Steffi and I were driving to the The GFWC Tenth District Art Show on Wednesday we turned onto an enchanted scene.  The ice-coated trees on both sides of the road just sparkled in the sunshine.

Art show results:  I won blue ribbons for both my entries.  Confession: blue ribbons were a  foregone conclusion since they were the ONLY entries in the two categories!  Attendance at the monthly D10 luncheons has dwindled due to Covid and participation in the art show is way, way down.  But, hey, I'll take blue ribbons when they're offered.

(I made Batiks by ...

TGIFF and Project QUILTING 11.3: Put a Heart on It from Goer

I had such a great time making my project for Project QUILTING 11.2 that I knew I wanted to turn it into a series. I held back from starting a second one before this past Sunday in case I could make it work for PQ 11.3. Low and behold, I could! So I chose Kona Cerise (the February 4 Kona Color of the Day) as my starting point with a vague plan to make an improv log cabin with Cerise, white on cerise prints, and black and white prints. And I would work in triangles to the piecing ...

TGIFF: Quick Reusable Holiday Gift Bag Tutorial from Goer

Hello and welcome to my stop for TGIFF! I look forward to seeing what you’ve finished this week. Be sure to link up your finish below.

I opted for a super fast finish to share with you. Keep reading for all the tips on my process for making this pillowcase style gift bag.

I was recently given four Hanukkah fabrics (thank you Erin!) which I’m excited to have for making reusable gift bags. For years we’ve been using and reusing three Hanukkah gift bags. This works great since we give three gifts each night in our household ...
