This time... LINES from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Remember my pictures for inspiration post from last week? Well, I guess I really like the concept, because I took another walk, this time on the search for lines.

Trees have always been a big deal to me. I'm not sure just what it is exactly, their grandeur, their ability to clean the air, their home site capabilities, their colors and beauty. If you've ever seen the changing colors of the leaves in fall, or fledgling bluebirds following the mama from branch to branch, or Spanish moss dripping in the fog, you'd get it ...

Pictures for inspiration from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Under my needle today are these masks in gingham that my niece requested. Ten in total they've been relatively easy to sew. I made a jig to help in the pleating and that has made all the difference. Before this request, I'd made a few in oranges because I'd over-cut some 1½ inch strips. How convenient that they're the exact size of the straps.

Endeavourers Texture Challenge - Doodle Quilting using the Slate 2 by ISKN from Charly & Ben's Crafty Corner

Remember the big trend in adult colouring books?  I have always been drawn to these books, loving the complexity of pattern created with simple lines.  Some of those lines would make amazing quilt patterns.  As soon as I saw the Endeavourer's challenge for February was Texture, I knew I wanted to play with this idea and see what happened.  The idea of using this type of doodle quilting to create texture appealed to me.

For one of my Pictorial Ticker Tape workshops I was asked for a cow so I drew this one on the iPad and thought it ...

Free Motion Quilting - What I have learnt from Quilting Along the Grain

As you know I love patchwork. I have made clothes and bags, but patchwork is my passion!

It all started back in 1996 when I spotted a patchwork quilt in a magazine and immediately bought a small cheep sewing machine. That fist king size quilt has pride of place in my bedroom and is still used to build dens!

Faded and worn, but a den building staple!

For  person who avoided sewing lessons at school because they were for girls that is quite an achievement!

When I started patchwork I was  determined hand quilter. I couldn't seem to get ...
