Fabulous Finish....Number 4 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I dug deep to find this unfinished project...

These were orphan blocks from a

New York Beauty quilt from 2009

I put the orphan blocks into a table runner

and today they are going under the needle

for some machine quilting...

These blocks are all about the fabrics and design,

so I kept the quilting very simple

so it would not compete...

These are 6 inch blocks that were leftover from

They are foundation paper pieced...

which is the only way to roll with the

NYB pattern

Just love those pointy points !

Now that it ...

First finish for March and a shipment on the way......... from Exuberant Color

I didn't have a table cleaned off to lay the table runner on, like I ever have a table cleaned off!  It is getting its portrait taken on the design wall.  It is about 18" x 53"

This fabric that I used on the back was a long leftover piece from cutting borders and was exactly the right size.  Binding hand stitched.

Yesterday afternoon the "fixer" at Accuquilt called me and there is a replacement die on the way to me.  Success!! (back story on the die on yesterday's post).

I made 10 more Hattie's choice blocks ...

Finish #2 for 2021....... from Exuberant Color

I finished another table runner.  This one is made from die cut pieces that I had a friend cut before I had a die cutter.  It is about 14" x 41" and it is ditch quilted and has a hand finished binding.

I don't normally choose a light color for binding but I needed something that went well with the backing fabric (also a Kaffe Fassett fabric) because I thought it might be used with either side up.  The light blue Aboriginal dots was the only thing I had that went well with it.  There are blues in the ...

First finish for 2021............ from Exuberant Color

 16.25" x 31.5" batik Double 4 Patch table runner.

I like to put a batik with a large pattern on the back of the table runners.  A nice batik stripe binding finished it off.  It took about 2.5 hours to hand stitch the binding.  I always think it is going to go faster because it is a small item but the perimeter is equal to 1/3 of the perimeter of a good size throw quilt and that usually takes about 7 hours to stitch.

I got a few strips for the bottom half of the TAW ...

Starting small............ from Exuberant Color

It is the last week of the month so I have to finish some things.  I'm going to cut myself some slack and allow myself to count small finishes along with my larger finishes.  Previously I just listed the small pieces separately like an afterthought.  I'm not sure why I did that.  I started out with one of the tablerunners.  I think I have 4 of them to quilt.  I did ditch quilting on this one and it is ready to trim.  I plan on sewing on the binding to be ready to hand finish tonight if the ...

New pattern: Buffalo Check Christmas Runner from Carried Away Quilting

I am a buffalo check girl. I have buffalo check pillows on our living room sofa, buffalo check napkins in the dining room, and even buffalo check curtains in the guest room. I recently debuted two new patterns, Buffalo Check Autumn and Buffalo Check Winter, which both feature this favorite motif. Today I have another fun pattern to show you, Buffalo Check Christmas Runner!

This holiday runner exudes timeless, homespun charm. Simple trees and scrappy stars rest upon a foundation of the classic buffalo check.  I laid out my new runner with some plates, napkins and simple greens.  Now I ...

An old project............. from Exuberant Color

I might have started this project about 5 years ago when Debbie first posted her quilt and directions for the block.  At the time I pieced these 4 blocks and cut pieces for 8 more blocks.  Somehow the 2 parts got separated and I finally just sewed the 4 blocks together figuring it would be a nice table centerpiece mat.
Two days ago I found the ziploc bag with the pieces in it so yesterday I made the 8 additional blocks.

Then I sewed them together into a really long tablerunner.  The blocks finish at 9" so this will be ...

Sunday night sewing........... from Exuberant Color

Two or three weeks ago I sewed African prints with solid 2.5" strips and pressed them and put them on a shelf.  Last night I decided to slice them into segments and sew the blocks.  I have 19 blocks here and will make some more soon.  I plan on alternating them with plain squares of large print African fabrics.
I put my 5 Spring Star blocks back up on the design wall and hope to make block #6 today.  Then I will work on the pieced sashing.

I got a good photo of the texture created by the matchstick ...

Happy Easter!............ from Exuberant Color

Three vintage Easter postcards from my collection given to me by my grandma.  I'm not sure where she got them.  They are all addressed to Gerald Dudley, one postmarked 1908 and one 1911.  The other must have been hand delivered to him.
My indoor garden has blooms for Easter too.  The white one has more buds but the other 2 plants just have the one blossom.

I finished the hand sewing on the binding of my table runner last night, too late to have the light from the window to show the texture.  It is 15.5" x 24 ...

A table runner for me............. from Exuberant Color

This table runner has been waiting on my cutting table for several weeks for finishing.  I originally made it for a wedding shower gift but then decided it was too busy (for anyone other than me) and made a different one with 2 matching mug rugs for the gift.  I used a fusible batting so the 3 layers were connected and it just needed quilting and binding.  It was a perfect project for yesterday morning.

The backing has coffee pots and I don't drink coffee....it was originally chosen and cut when it was going to be a gift ...

Hexagon Table Runner......#3 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

English Paper Pieced.....Hexagons

I enjoy a hand piecing project when we travel,

so I am putting together a

take-a-long table runner.

After all of the paper hexagons are covered with

fabric, I put down a white piece of fabric and

arrange the table runner...

This is my third table runner,

and I still enjoy the process.

The pieces are all arranged,

but not sewn together just yet...

I pin each hexagon to the fabric base.

They will live on this fabric until they

are hand pieced together.

The fabric will not remain under the hexagons.

Once they are all ...
