french knots and hearts . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's only appropriate that the embroidery that I put together for our road trip weekend . . .
Was finished just as we entered the last mile into the camp!
Full circle (full heart?), I'd call that!  Here it is in better lighting . . .
I still need to spray out my markings and decide what to do with it now that the stitching is finished.  Heh.

Several of you have asked about where I found my pattern.  It was a vintage freebie from French Knots.  If you've never visited their website and you're an embroidery enthusiast, oh yeah, you really ...

weekend goings . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Todd and I got on the road yesterday afternoon and headed to Tuscaloosa for a missions conference.  We stayed overnight at the Bama B&B!

It's a really pretty place and I'll share more about that later.

I finished up granddaughter Olivia's patchwork doll quilt . . .
Just a simple finish.  It's sweet! I'll get this out in the mail to her on Monday.

I also finished block 20 of my Grandmother's Choice BOM.
I had trouble with the points on this one.  I may (*may*) go back and fiddle with it. I also may not ...

forwards and backwards . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Because this post covers a lot of time, current and past!
I finally finished up Ellie's bicycle embroidery, which was a good thing ... her (8th) birthday was Friday and we celebrated last night! It's a simple finish because I didn't want the fabric or the quilting to take away from the piece it was showcasing.  Mission accomplished!  *smirk*  Ellie had her first slumber party on Friday night, so we did family dinner at a Japanese restaurant called Edo's.  Her choice!
I love the complexity of this sweet girl.  For all that she loves girlie things (check ...

Alaska and Williamsburg Beauty from Quilts....etc.

Finally I got started sewing yesterday after I spent still more of the day organizing.  I had hoped to finish 4 of the Alaska blocks but it was 2 finished and 2 more will be done today.  My little table with the ironing top is still here in the room and fits at the end […]

this, that, and everything in between . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Looking back, it's been a fairly busy week/weekend!  It started snowing Tuesday afternoon, and continued well into the evening, giving us a full inch of pretty ground covering . . .
Coming into the camp.  It took me ninety minutes to get home from work on Tuesday evening!
It was still pretty the next morning, too!

Wednesday I finished up the binding on the last of the Christmas quilts . . .
Three little lap quilts, all with their binding neatly stitched up! Ijust need to pop labels on them.

Thursday we had our annual Christmas Open House at work.  I enjoy getting things ...

beginnings and ends . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I love finishes!  This morning I can share not one, but TWO! Well, perhaps I should clarify. Not two completely finished, ready-to-put-up-and-enjoy-and-never-need-to-be-worked-on-again projects. But two projects on which I've finished the embroidery stitches! I wrapped up my pumpkin piece (by Crabapple Hill Studios):
I just love this sweet stitchery.  I love the character and variety of stitches and colors.  It was truly like painting a scene.  It's so yummy!

And I finished my teapot table topper . . .
I think the last time I shared anything on it, I was still whipping the hexies together! I finished the hexies up ...

a good deal . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

. . . of fun.  A good deal of weekend fun!

It was a lovely, busy weekend with lots of stitchy-crafy things going on.  On Thursday I was inspired at work to turn our 3D Popcorn Box die cut into these darling little favor boxes . . .
I used Christmas images (I printed seamless background images onto the cardstock), but these could be done for *any* holiday or themed event. They were fast and easy to put together, too -- a happy bonus.  I love it when I find a fun something!

I found just the thing I needed in my floss stash to finish up ...

excessive stitches . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I've got a couple of different hand-work projects in progress right now.  Because I can't focus on just ONE thing.  No, I have to have THREE things (or more) going on simultaneously. LOL!

In yesterday's post I talked about a dream quilt (literally, a quilt I designed in my dreams).  I (day)dreamed up another little piece ... a hexie mat.  I'd done one years ago for my mom (the pattern for it was in a magazine, but I don't remember which one--I blogged about here in 2012!) . . .
But I ran across some really cute teapot ...

a stitch in time . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I've really been caught up in hand embroidery of late.  Not sure what has me so enthralled, but I *like* it!  I thought I'd share a few finishes and progress.

I finished the stitching on this little secret project . . .
I'll fill you in later.  Hahaha!

I started and finished this acorn . . .
Stitched by me; pattern from Kathy Schmitz, One Stitch at a Time Embroidery Club
I love this cosmos variegated floss; it's so soft and pretty! I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with this stitchery, but I'll figure out something ...

time well spent . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

The association I work for had its 182nd Annual Meeting last Tuesday.  It's a big deal for me and a lot of prep work and a long day . . . but we get the Wednesday and Thursday following the meeting off, giving me a long, five-day weekend.

And I made good use of that time!

Wednesday, I met Joc and the girls at Tate Farms for my annual pilgrimage to the pumpkin patch.  I didn't bring home a single pumpkin (can you believe it?!), but we spent an hour or so hanging out in the corn crib!
Literally.
We all ...

Farm Girl Vintage from Snippets of a Quilter

I used the "Spell it with Fabric" pattern by Moda to make the letters in the Farm Girl Vintage quilt. Since the letters are different size than the blocks I'm still working on the layout and fitting everything together. I'm enjoying playing around with the pretty colours in these blocks. More to come on this quilt.
A little stitchery from Plum Cute Designs for Buttermilk Basin Christmas blog hop. The mitten stitchery is a free pattern and the frame I ordered from her website.
Another redwork stitchery I did before Christmas. I thought the frame was a prefect ...
