A Day for Slow from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The week is coming to a close. I'm amazed that we still have snow on the ground from an entire week ago. In 21 years in our house, we've never seen snow for this many consecutive days. And I can't recall when it's hung around for this long either. Our temperatures have been above freezing, but we're still seeing precipitation falling as snow. We need a good melting rain to dispense with it, but it doesn't look like that will happen until the latter part of next week. For now ...

Waylaid from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! Things are looking up weather wise. For the first time in about a week, I can say there was no new snow yesterday. And...bonus...the temperature was above freezing when we awakened this morning. I think we might escape snowpocalypse 2023 by the skin of our teeth.

There isn't a lot to report from yesterday because I got waylaid planning our fall ATV trip to Colorado and Utah. That's a long time from now, but I'll be wanting to make reservations at some of the state parks along the way. When it ...

Snow, Snow, and More Snow from ... Cat Patches

Happy frosty morning to you, my friends. It snowed most of the day here yesterday. It was hard to believe it was still coming down, particularly with temperatures above freezing. Nevertheless, the temperatures aloft were colder, and the white stuff came down, down, down. Yeesh. I'm thinking it might be gone by July. It was a pretty sunrise this morning, though.

When I sat down here to write, I noticed this frost on my window.

It almost looks likes its own frozen forest scene. I can remember the first time I saw frost on a window. It was at ...

Snow Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Good grief. Are you tired of snow pictures yet? Well, buckle up, because misery loves company.

We were supposed to have left on a camping trip to Cape Lookout yesterday. When we read the tea leaves last week, we decided to reschedule for next week. Now I'm starting to wonder if we'll be able to get out of here then. It's right at 32 degrees this morning, and still snowing. The kitties and I have not been outside the house in nearly a week...except for one jaunt into town on Saturday. Mike ...

Snowed In from Cat Patches

Happy chilly Saturday to you, my friends! We're snowed in here at the Three Cats Ranch. I'm imagining the main roads are probably passable, but we can't get out of our driveway. I'm very glad we did our grocery shopping on Wednesday because we haven't been able to get out since Thursday. Mike put on his boots yesterday and filled the bird feeders. I imagine the birdies are grateful, although they never say so.

Sadie is not happy about this white stuff at all.

She can't go outside, and there's precious little sunshine ...

Dazzling Day from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Are you keeping warm...or cool? Depending on which part of the country you're in, you're probably breaking some kind of weather record. Here, we had more snow fall in a single day than we have since 1943. Pretty impressive. And when the sun came out in the afternoon, it was a dazzling display.

After finishing my post yesterday, I stopped off at the "necessary room" on my way down the stairs. Our window there looks out on the roof of the garage. With our new metal roof, the snow won't stick very ...

White World from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a white world outside this morning. Toward the end of yesterday, I took a picture that I posted to Facebook. I was saying it had snowed almost all day long, but it was 33°F, and so there was almost no accumulation. After all that work at snowing, the snow day was turning into a bust. And I won't even mention the snowpocalypse predictions for our area.

It was a whole different story this morning. I think about ten inches fell overnight. Some of you will sniff at such a paltry accumulation, but ...

Many Forms of Tiny from Cat Patches

Good tiny morning, my friends. We're all about things that are tiny, here at the Three Cats Ranch today. For one thing, we had a tiny amount of snowfall last night. When we went to bed, we weren't sure we wouldn't awaken to snowpocalypse, but the forecast was overblown. We have just a tiny amount of accumulation, although it's still falling.

There was just a tiny amount of time to work on the inchies yesterday, but they too are tiny. Even with just a few minutes, I can usually finish them off before other obligations encroach ...

A Full Day from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I have to write fast this morning. I have an appointment for a haircut and color. Today I'm making the bold move of having some blonde streaks put into my newly-shortened doo. If it turns out, and I'm very brave, I might even post a picture tomorrow. Time will tell. The picture could show me with new blonde streaks, or it could be me with a sack over my head.

Yesterday morning, I stitched the next inchy. This one was chain stitch, backstitch, and a French knot.

Since these aren't keeping my morning ...

Mostly Quilting from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and a Happy President's Day to you. Did you know it's also National Cherry Pie Day? And it just so happens that I have a single refrigerated pie crust that needs to be used. Also...many jars of cherry pie filling. What's a person to do? Well. I know what I'll be doing, and I'll feel downright patriotic as I'm doing it.

But let's just back up to yesterday morning, shall we? Of course, there was an inchy to stitch. This one was all backstitch and French knots.
