Getting Ready to Stitch from ... Cat Patches

As I mentioned yesterday, we had grocery shopping to do. We first stopped off to get our beloved Egg McMuffins. With our dually truck it's sometimes difficult to negotiate sharp turns in a drive through lane, and so we generally go inside for this. This is true especially when we're traveling and only trying a particular drive-through for the first time.

So we drive up to the local McDonald's and there is a sign in the window that says...and I'm quoting the fonts here:

DINING ROOM NOW OPEN!

"Great!" we say. So we don our ...

Hat Trick from ... Cat Patches

It was a busy day yesterday with lots of running around. Everything feels so hustle-bustle this time of year, even when I'm operating on a good night's sleep. Yesterday, I was operating on only half a good night's sleep, and so my patience was half what it might have been...skimpy, even on a good day. The pedicure was nice, but then there was the grocery store which put a huge dent in my zen of the moment. But, oh well, now it's done, and I can stay home until Tuesday...unless we have to pick ...

Finally...a Finish! from Cat Patches

Yesterday I was able to finish the first quilt since breaking my shoulder way back in December. My previous finish was actually much earlier...in November...and so you can see it's been a long dry spell. While I had good intentions of doing some housework, I spent most of the day finishing up the stitched inchies. It was an excellent demonstration of the quilters' maxim: Quilting forever...housework whenever.

So...ya wanna see?

If you read yesterday's post, you might remember I was undecided about how to quilt it, although I had lots of ideas. It turns ...

Three Little Quilt Tops from ... Cat Patches

Well, I sewed, and sewed, and sewed, and completely wore myself out yesterday. All the while, I had loads of laundry going in the washing machine, and so it was a productive day. Nevertheless, I flaked on my pie-baking for Pi Day. It was raining, and so I didn't get my weeds pulled. Oh well. I kept thinking I'd take a break for the pie, but then I really just wanted to keep sewing. It was surprising when the third quilt top was finished how weary I was. Clearly, I'm not back to my old self yet ...

Early Start from ... Cat Patches

It was a grocery day today, and so we were up and out early. Now, just after 11:00 a.m., we're good to go for at least another week. I'm hoping we can avoid grocery shopping again before we get home, but that's probably overly optimistic. It's another two weeks, I'm guessing, before we're back at the Three Cats Ranch.

Yesterday was a leisurely morning. We had lunch planned, but we weren't meeting up with our friends until 1:00 p.m. It meant a slow morning. I stitched yesterday's inchy ...

More Stitching from Cat Patches

We had a nice lunch with our friends yesterday afternoon. It's always good to get together and catch up. Mike's sister will be visiting today, and we'll be heading out to the Oceanside Pier with her. We have meets with friends set up for Thursday, Friday, and Monday as well, so we've turned into social butterflies. It was the point of coming here. We're being very careful in our meet-ups, maintaining distance and wearing masks when we can't. Several of our friends have already been vaccinated, and so the risk is somewhat less. We ...

Palomar Mountain from Cat Patches

There was no sewing yesterday, although I did start the day by stitching my inchy. This was another devoted to fly stitch.

This morning's is already stitched too. This one is devoted to feather stitch.

But let's just back up to yesterday, shall we? We decided to take a drive out to the Palomar Observatory. You can read more about it at that link, but the most important thing to know about it is that it was, in its day, the largest telescope of its kind. Wikipedia tells us:

The 200-inch telescope is named after astronomer and telescope ...

A Trip Back through Time from Cat Patches

We decided to do a little driving around yesterday. My family technically lived in Oceanside when we were here, which is an adjacent from Vista beach-side community. Nevertheless, we were closer to Vista, inside the boundaries of the Vista Unified School District, subscribed to the local Vista Press newspaper, etc. Although our address was Oceanside, we considered ourselves Vista residents.

Mike and I were on the hunt for some lunch yesterday. We spent a good part of our time pointing and announcing, "Oh, the so-and-so is still there." Or, "Isn't that where the so-and-so used to be?" Or, "Oh ...

Vista, California from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! I had an unexpected day off from the blog yesterday. We took off from Laughlin, Nevada, early enough in the day. Our journey to Vista yesterday was just under 300 miles, but they were long miles. Once we got past Barstow and into more high-traffic areas of southern California, our speed slowed considerably. It seemed to take forever to travel those last 60 miles. And crazy driving!!! We were both worn out by the time we arrived. It was good to get set up and just chill for a while. Then, I got the bright idea ...

Cat Collective from Cat Patches

We've had a busy morning already here at the Traveling Three Cats Ranch. Every morning starts the same way, with the "Good Morning" song I learned on my first day of kindergarten.

Good morning to you!
Good morning to you!
We're all in our places
With sunshining faces.
It's such a good way
To start out the day!

Sadie has a beautiful sopurrano voice. Smitty likes the purritone range.

I stitched the day's inchy.

And then we left to go do our grocery shopping. Sadie was taking her morning sunbath when we left.

We were supposed ...
