Irish Chain Quilt - Tutorial from Quiltmanufaktur

Dieses Jahr fiel es mir erstaunlich schwer, mich mit der Weihnachts Dekokration für den Laden zu beschäftigen. Die rechte Stimmung will einfach nicht aufkommen. Geht euch das auch so? Was ein Glück gibt es Pinterest! Ich bin ja begeisterte Sammlerin von Pins mit Quiltmustern, die ich einfach schön finde oder mal irgendwann sogar machen will. Auf der Suche nach einen passenden Quilt bin ich dort auf das klassische Muster Irish Chain gestoßen; nicht kompliziertes, aber schön anzuschauen!

Als ich den Quilt während seiner Entstehung und dann auch fertig auf Instagram gezeigt habe, wurde ich gefragt, ob es dafür vielleicht eine ...

Making it up as I go along from The Amateur Quilter


I haven't posted on the blog in a while. I've been busy sewing as usual. I've had many customer quilts on the longarm these days. I thought I would take a quick moment to share photos of a few of them. As for the title of this post, I wanted to point out this one that I longarmed for a customer and just made up the quilting randomly as I did it:


In the white space I did "straight" lines without a ruler. Notice I said "straight" in quotation marks! :)

Finished: a winter table runner from One Million Stitches

It all started with a visit to St. Louis last summer to stay with my friend, Sandy. After catching up on our lives and other news, she posed what I thought was an innocent question, but turned out to be anything but.

“So, have you been doing any quilting lately?” she asked.

“Yes, I just finished a large quilt for my bed,” I replied, not seeing the “Danger, Will Robinson” signs screaming all around me in flashing neon.

“Great! I want you to make a table runner out of this holiday fabric I have for Vee (her daughter),” said Sandy ...

Ribbon Box Quilt - WIP from Marelize Ries

Last year I had finished this Ribbon Box Quilt top and finally decided to start quilting it.  When I picked my fabrics for this quilt I was certain that the prints and colours I had selected would work perfectly with the design of the quilt, but when I had finished piecing it, I was not entirely sure if I had made the right selections.  Because all of the fabrics are light to medium together with the white background fabric, I don't think that the ribbons 'pop' as much as I had hoped.
