August's Block is Out! Snow Much Fun BOM... from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Happy August everyone! It's hard to think about winter and seems like so long ago now.  I've got a super cute block to share with you this month, it features a snowman and a sweet little hound dog. This last winter was Belvedere's first and I have to say he didn't mind the snow too much as long as it wasn't sub zero temperatures. Belvedere saw the world as a giant snow cone when he went outside. He enjoyed eating fresh snow and didn't seem to be too concerned about deep snowdrifts. This surprised ...

May's Block, Snow Much Fun! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

No one is happier to welcome May than I. It sure has been a long winter here in Minnesota. I'm loving that the days are a little warmer and the trees are thinking about budding, a little later than normal but that's ok. I have crocus that are finally blooming, I was afraid that they bloomed during the last snow storm and I had missed seeing them bloom. I was thrilled to see little pops of purple poking up thru the mulch. The robins were confused with the last snowfall, but are back to building their nests and ...

April's Block Snow Much Fun! from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Happy April! Happy Easter! and Happy April Fool's day! So much going on today! I hope that where ever you are from, I hope it's a beautiful spring day! Here in Minnesota it's your typical Easter day, a bit on the cold side, snow on the ground that hasn't melted yet and mud here and there... I'm already looking forward to May.  It's hard to talk about winter and snuggly warm quilts with the appearance of Easter baskets and chocolate bunnies. But, I will try and do my best... This month's block is ...

Snow Much Fun in Wool from Quilt Doodle Doodles

I have been enjoying working with wool for my second version of this year's BOM. I've been having Snow Much Fun! I ran a little behind last month with my postings... so this month I will be showing you last month's block and this month's block done in the wool. Both turned out so darn cute.  I have been machine stitching my wool applique with Lana wool from Aurifil. I googled it to locate a source since I didn't want to drive all over the Twin Cities to locate some. (It's winter, I'm ...

Working With Wool is Snow Much Fun! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

I have discovered that working with wool is so much fun! As promised I have this month's block to show you all done in wool. I have been collecting wool here and there over the last couple of years. Many of you have heard me whine about my wonky stitches. Well I have learned that you can machine applique wool! Now this is a game changer for me. I don't know why I haven't discovered this sooner! I'm an instant gratification type of girl so machine appliqueing with wool is soooo awesome! Now don't get ...

The Quilts of Christmas Past from Sew........This Is My Blog

I can't believe I haven't blogged in almost three weeks. Well, I guess I can, really.  This has been a crazy-busy December!  I have barely been in my sewing room at all. Since I don't have anything new to share I thought I'd show some of the Christmas quilts I made in the past.

This one is probably my favorite.  I made it in 2007 from blocks I received in a quilt guild row-robin.  Each person in the group made a row using the Christmas fabric I had provided.  When I got it back I didn ...

Snowmen Express from Sew Preeti Quilts

After Esmeralda, which was a herculean effort, I wanted to do as little as possible.
Time to reward myself :-D

Fabric Shopping!!!

The Nursery Rhymes fabric will make the backing of my October OMG quilt.

Windham Fabrics Nursery Rhymes
I knew I had to have this orange striped fabric.

Balloon Stripe Michael Miller Fabrics
I will most probably use it as backing and will use the diagonal lines to quilt from the back.

Jumping and Munching Sheep

I also got these sheep and look at those plump farm animals.

Plump Animals

I fell for these snowmen and ordered immediately.

Instant ...

It all started with a visit to St. Louis last summer to stay with my friend, Sandy. After catching up on our lives and other news, she posed what I thought was an innocent question, but turned out to be anything but.

“So, have you been doing any quilting lately?” she asked.

“Yes, I just finished a large quilt for my bed,” I replied, not seeing the “Danger, Will Robinson” signs screaming all around me in flashing neon.

“Great! I want you to make a table runner out of this holiday fabric I have for Vee (her daughter),” said Sandy ...
