Christmas on the Wall 15, 16 from Virtual Quilter

The first design for today is probably a shape suited to hanging on a door.

Love the second design.

12 Days of Christmas from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Day 12

Welcome to the last day of my 12 Days of Christmas. Today's project is another adorable snowman!  I put mine on a Buffalo Plaid tea towel from Dunroven House. But this sweet snowman can be used for so many different projects! Make a special pillow, apron, mug rug.... so many possibilities! Some supplies I like to use and have on hand in my sewing room for this project included my applique scissors from Olfa, Flexifuse, brown and white thread, and a healthy supply of scrap fabric for the applique design. To make my Mitten Snowman you will ...

12 Days of Christmas, Day 11 from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Day 11

It finally snowed a little here in Minnesota, really just a dusting, but it snowed! It helped brighten my Christmas spirit as I wrapped some gifts today. Our Christmas tree isn't as bare underneath now. It's starting to feel a little bit like Christmas. Hubby and I delivered gift bags with gnomes to all our neighbors. Belvedere enjoyed the walk and made sure to bellow, 'happy holidays' in only a way that a basset hound could. I then popped into my sewing room and worked on today's project. A sweet snowman. It's appliqued using ...

12 Days of Christmas, Day 10 from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Day 10

For day 10, I have an adorable mini quilt! It's called Snowman Delivery and features Belvedere taking the snowmen on ride in grandpa's red truck. He's at it again sneaking off the farm with grandpa's truck. I'm sure he's just taking his friends out to see some Christmas lights. What's great about this new mini quilt is that you can leave it on display all winter long. It took me an afternoon to make. I sat and stitched listening to some Christmas music drinking my peppermint latte. It was a very ...

Christmas Forest and Tree Trims 8, 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

I just counted the tree blocks in this design and there are three I haven’t made into small wall hangings (to hang on doors), but i have run out of doors to hang them on!

The second design could be a tablecloth, but they get stuff spilled on them the first time I put them on a table.

The last one would be a nice lap quilt, something which is rarely required around Christmas time here.

However, I have a lot of fun playing with the designs!

Quilt panel giveaway winners from Carried Away Quilting

Hello everyone!  It's time to announce the winners of the beautiful Santa Claus and Snowman quilt panels from the kind folks at Quilt Girls! Thank you so much for your enthusiastic entries!  I took all of the comments, copied and pasted them into a spreadsheet, sorted and shuffled them around, and then had my husband holler out two numbers.  My highly scientific method yielded these two winners:

Dorothy M. is the winner of the Snowman panel.
Annette is the winner of the Santa Claus panel.

I will contact each of you via email so we can coordinate sending your ...

Spreading Love Snowman from Quilt Doodle Doodles

It's that time of year that love is in the air.... so I drew up a new design featuring a sweet little snowman spreading love everywhere as this cute pickup drives along. It was so nice to putz around this morning and work on something new. This little snowman has been sitting on my to do pile for almost a month and I finally got around to it today. I tried something new today, I used a new product to me, Flexifuse lightweight fusible web. (The company does not know I'm doing a shout out nor have I ...

forwards and backwards . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Because this post covers a lot of time, current and past!
I finally finished up Ellie's bicycle embroidery, which was a good thing ... her (8th) birthday was Friday and we celebrated last night! It's a simple finish because I didn't want the fabric or the quilting to take away from the piece it was showcasing.  Mission accomplished!  *smirk*  Ellie had her first slumber party on Friday night, so we did family dinner at a Japanese restaurant called Edo's.  Her choice!
I love the complexity of this sweet girl.  For all that she loves girlie things (check ...

snowflakes and snowmen . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Last week we had snow overnight . . . this week we had tornadoes.  Weather in North Alabama is always a bit crazy.  We were very lucky and didn't experience any storm damage, and we were able to ride out the warning in the storm shelter under the new cabin in the campground.  It's the first time we've needed to put it to the test since it was build this past spring.  And the first time in the ten years we've lived at the camp that we haven't had to leave the premises to find shelter!  Phew!

I ...

Christmas on the Wall 11, 12, 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

More bells today, along with a few other seasonal items.

Only one week before Christmas, so I am guessing there are quite a few items being wrapped, though keep in mind that little fingers, and big ones too, can unwrap something much quicker than we can wrap them!

Let's Do Some Holiday Baking! from Quilt Doodle Doodles

~ Holiday Baking~
It's that time of year that my mixer is working non-stop making all sorts of goodies for the holidays. My favorite recipe is sugar cookies and I always whip up a batch of sweetly decorated ones for Christmas. It's a recipe that I got from my best friend years ago.... many years ago, but it continues to prove to be the best recipe ever!

Extra Good Sugar Cookies
        • 2/3 cup soft shortening
        • 3/4 cup sugar
        • 1 egg
        • 1/4 tsp almond extract
        • 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
            • 2 cups flour

virtual cookie exchange, day two . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

That's MEEEEEE!
I love hops . . . it's such an easy-peasey way to visit other bloggers and gain new ideas on a central theme.  Fresh perspective, if you will!  I especially enjoy participating in blog hops that Carol, over at Just Let Me Quilt organizes.   She does such a great job!  Thanks, Carol!

Our family has always baked our way through the holidays.  We love the tried and true, but we also love to experiment and try new, fun things.  I'm always looking for ways to include the grandgirls so that they grow up appreciating the baking traditions and ...

beginnings and ends . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I love finishes!  This morning I can share not one, but TWO! Well, perhaps I should clarify. Not two completely finished, ready-to-put-up-and-enjoy-and-never-need-to-be-worked-on-again projects. But two projects on which I've finished the embroidery stitches! I wrapped up my pumpkin piece (by Crabapple Hill Studios):
I just love this sweet stitchery.  I love the character and variety of stitches and colors.  It was truly like painting a scene.  It's so yummy!

And I finished my teapot table topper . . .
I think the last time I shared anything on it, I was still whipping the hexies together! I finished the hexies up ...
