Working With Wool is Snow Much Fun! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

I have discovered that working with wool is so much fun! As promised I have this month's block to show you all done in wool. I have been collecting wool here and there over the last couple of years. Many of you have heard me whine about my wonky stitches. Well I have learned that you can machine applique wool! Now this is a game changer for me. I don't know why I haven't discovered this sooner! I'm an instant gratification type of girl so machine appliqueing with wool is soooo awesome! Now don't get ...

You Have to See Dorothy’s Adorable Snowman Quilt! from Quilted Joy

How sweet is Dorothy’s snowman quilt? This is the perfect quilt to snuggle up with your kiddos on a cold wintery night!

Angela quilted Dorothy's adorable snowman quilt with a fun snowflake pantograph.

Dorothy found the quilt pattern at a Walmart many years ago, and unfortunately she didn’t remember the name of the pattern. The quilt is one of her UFOs that was waiting its turn to be quilted for a while.

Angela quilted Dorothy's adorable snowman quilt with a fun snowflake pantograph.

She found the perfect icy blue fabrics for her quilt. And don’t you love the little pops of red for their hats?

A Snowlady and More Mail from Bayou Quilts

Second version, a snowlady, with a slightly different head, and different body.

The third one is almost finished.

I've enjoyed making these snow folk and discovering what I have in my stash that might work for clothing and embellishments.  A lot of time is spent making up my mind and searching for stuff and making mistakes and misjudging sizes, but I've gotten a few things figured out.  A couple of heads that I made by altering my original pattern will work for pumpkins next fall--so all is not lost.

As usual, I am behind schedule on just about ...

Tea with Frosty! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

It finally looks like Christmas here in Minnesota. We had our first real snowfall last Sunday night, it was a real nightmarish drive into work for my hubby Monday morning. (3 plus hours!) But the magical white outside inspired me to work on a new pattern for the holidays. A sweet mug rug! Tea with Frosty is sure to delight anyone on Santa's list! Let me show you how quickly this went together! I bet you have fabric in your stash you could use right now! For the background and backing all you need is a fat quarter!
I ...

Snowmen from Bayou Quilts

I decided I wanted a snowman, and looked up patterns for fabric balls, but my printer wouldn't work.  Did some measurements and made my own pattern.

I thought my pattern would make a four piece ball, but when I put it together, I had to add another piece, which worked just fine.  This is the first time I've felt like making eccentric characters in over a year, but suddenly, I'm in the mood to stuff fabric and make clothes for snowmen, and I'm going to try another 4 piece ball with a little adjustment to ...

Magazine Monday from Hooked on Quilting

Mag Cover-Primtv Qlts-Wntr 2017While I was busy hosting Stitchin’ Camp this weekend, the winter edition of Primitive Quilts landed in our mailbox. Anxious to look through it, but at the same time wishing to be able to give it my full attention, I decided to wait until Sunday afternoon, after my nap of course, to look through its pages.

Sometimes, magazines will offer several projects within their pages, but only one or two that will tickle my fancy. In this case, my wait was welcomed with a magazine brimming with projects that I wanted to do. Mag Cover- Primtv Qlts-TabsI use sticky flags to mark the ...
