Throwback Thursday (on Tuesday) from Sew........This Is My Blog

Only six weeks into the year, and I've blown two of my goals -- sewing every day and blogging more often.   I have, however, done a lot of coughing, moaning and groaning, and sleeping.  Can you say, "I think this might be the flu"?

Rather than keeping my tens of followers hanging, I decided to dig into the depths of Excel and do a little show and tell from days gone by.  Included in my Excel spreadsheet is information on each quilt I've made including whether I've posted pics of it on Flickr or blogged about it. So ...

Westside Modern Quilt Club - Jan 2018 from Pine Needle Quilt Shop

  Happy New Year!

We've missed our monthly meetings, and with the full house at our January meeting, it looks like you missed us too.

We started off by talking about our annual challenges. Last year's Transitions exhibit was well received at the NW Quilt Expo and we've been invited to exhibit at the Clark County Quilt Show in April. Our exhibit can include pieces from ANY of our previous challenges. That means it could be a Bridges, The Pearl, Modern Heritage, or Transitions quilt. If you would like to participate, please give your name and phone number ...

Finished Summer Solar Eclipse Quilts from Patchwork Posse

This has been one of the best quilt alongs in a long time!

Is it actually possible to have a favorite quilt….it’s like choosing a favorite child!  But, I kind of do feel like it for this quilt.

It’s been nothing but delightful to see all of your ideas, creations, additions, subtractions and creativity with your own quilt. I thank you for sewing along and sharing your progress, asking your questions and FINISHING the quilt!

Oh my goodness.

I really am excited to share today the quilts that I have found that were finished and shared.  (if ...

3 Boxes of Quilts from Butterfly Threads

I just mailed these three boxes of quilts on Monday. No, they aren't Christmas gifts. Care to take any guesses?

Here's a sneak peek at the quilts. The 15 quilts here represent a huge chunk of my life this year. I am so happy with them, and can't wait to share each one of them with you! But that won't happen until NEXT Christmas. Ugh. I hate waiting!!

But for now, I think I better start my holiday shopping, wrapping, and baking. No more excuses for me. Have you figured out what these quilts will be ...

Show And Tell Time from Wedding Dress Blue

Seeing quilts makes me happy…that is why I share tutorials and ideas here in the first place.

And many of my readers very kindly share their creations to add to the quilting happiness in the world.

Patricia made this Twinkle Baby quilt for her grandson.

Maryann created a Hundred Patch way back in 2014, but I didn’t post the picture correctly.  Here it is at long last for your viewing pleasure.

Here’s another Hundred Patch, this one created by Karen.  I never get tired of seeing them.

Susan has finished her Desert (Calico) Rose quilt.  Including the ...

Irish Star Quiltalong: Progress Update from Wedding Dress Blue

Many of you reported on your progress, and some sent pictures.

Neralie (a beautiful name) in Australia has already finished a small one!  And she has another planned.  It took my breath away to see one finished.  Amazing!

Ruth has been cutting and cutting–two days worth.  Her color scheme is so pretty!

Meloney is sewing blocks–she has 46 of 81 chain blocks complete.  Her color scheme is very controlled and will be striking.

P1010404Randy’s also has controlled colors…and she has a very nice design wall.

Claire created this solids-only beauty at her Fall Retreat using 3-inch ...

Our friend, Cathy, has been homebound recouperating from surgery.  When she told me that she was going bonkers with nothing to do and needed to go to the quilt shop, I offered to take her there.  I never want to miss a chance to go to the Attic Window Quilt Shop. I came prepared, ready to shop and take pictures of things new.  We were fortunate that we arrived just as Sampler was in session.  More importantly, we got to see some show-n-tell.  Above, Charity shows everyone her latest quilt.
This is a little closer look.  She said it was ...

Christmas Card Show and Tell... from Home Designs by Amanda

Yesterday, I was trying to work on a project to share here. I even finished a card... but it had a couple issues. The main two are the sentiment being a little hard to read, and my adhesive showing up behind the tracing paper.  I should have used glue dots... then it probably wouldn't have been seen! There are a couple other things I would probably do different, but it was a

Stitch Gathering 2017 from Charm About You

On Sunday I was in Edinburgh for the Stitch Gathering retreat organised by Jo Avery of myBearpaw. I went to teach my hand pieced Whatever the Weather mini quilt pattern (which will be available to buy soon!). It was a brilliant day spent with wonderful people and it all went by in a flash, as these things tend to do. The loveliest part was getting to meet up with quilty friends, make new ones and spend time with people I have only ever known online. It's amazing how well you click with people on t'internet (pun intended) and ...

Westside Modern Quilt Club July 2017 from Pine Needle Quilt Shop

Our meetings are pretty casual, and Geri seems to have a never ending cache of Oli and Lena jokes to start us off with a cheeky smile.

She also showed off some gorgeous digitally printed fabrics from P&B which we'll be restocking in September, and 100% wool dryer balls which are new to the store and perfect for fluffing up all your laundry without using dryer sheets. Geri also demonstrated that folding your quilts on the bias will help prevent creases and prolong the life of your quilts, especially when stored.

Next month (August) will be our annual ...

NEW YEAR, NEW START from Show + Tell

Who doesn't love a fresh start?

January 1st is really just a continuation in a long stream of days, but who doesn't love a fresh start? A new race to run (not from personal experience, I just thought it sounded good), new colors to explore, spend more time where I feel most alive, experiment more, love more, move closer to what God created me to do and embrace the wonderful gift of joy.

Got to hand deliver my last art installation of 2016 in Indianapolis for my amazing, creative Jennifer Storey. Now I can't wait to get ...
