Notorious from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finally took the plunge and started quilting this little piece. This was inspired by a cross stitch design created by Prudence Kitch. If you are a cross-stitcher you should check out their snarky little darlings. Get your own copy of Prudence Kitch - Notorious on Etsy. If you want to see some of my progress shots check out this post
The background is quilted with this flower motif.
The dress is quilted with a variegated thread to make these swirls.
I added some detail to the lily.
The swirls make their way up the bodice.
Nothing fancy for the gavel ...

Merry Christmas Friend!

I have a Christmas message today with a giveaway 🎄💝

Pat sloan first christmas frame

****My First Christmas ***

This is my first Christmas with my beautiful mom, I was one month old.

I sent this photo over to mom today! She said it was like having a babydoll with lots of clothing. I was the first grand child and the first girl on my dad's side, I was a wee bit spoiled.

****Merry Christmas Video***

Big hugs to you my friend!

Midnight Slippers from Becca's Crazy Projects

I purchased the Midnight Slipper pattern from Stitch Upon A Time because I prefer soft-soled slippers. For this pair, I fussy-cut some scraps of fleece to make my first pair. Here are all my pieces cut out. Since I made this with fleece for the outer and lining I did not use fleece between the two layers. I substituted the bottom with non-slip fabric. I also used a piece of batting between the lining and the non-slip fabric for a little extra padding.
I was a little concerned about the bulk for the elastic when using two layers of fleece ...

sew a scented sachet from Charm About You

These cute scented sachets are quick and easy to sew, perfect to scatter around your house for an uplifting or comforting burst of fragrance! They are a great way to use up scraps of fabric and make nice gifts. Throw them in drawers or shoes, add a loop to hang one in your wardrobe or anywhere that you want a little scented goodness.

The theme for the Aurifil Artisan challenge this month is Holiday Project and having designed these little sachets, I thought it would be fun to sew some winter themed ones and share a tutorial so you can ...

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Since this has become our favorite style of mask I decided it was time to make some more. I even experimented by making a larger version (the beer bottles one is supersized).
This pup peeking from the edge is so much fun! This mask is cut completely with rotary cutting tools (rotary cutter, rulers, mat) and is all straight-line sewing. Super simple construction, too.

Yarn Basket Bag from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been eyeing the Basket Bag pattern by Michelle Patterns for a while.
When I saw it on sale for 25% off (still on sale as I write this blog post) I grabbed it. The cutting and sewing directions are clear and easy to follow. I cut in the morning and had a finished bag by lunch time.
This was my test sew of the largest size and it is perfect for holding yarn and bunches of yarn at that. This would be a great little bag as a base for a gift basket. A small one with a ...

In Everything Give ThanksYes, there are many reasons to be... from Living Water Quilter

In Everything Give Thanks

Yes, there are many reasons to be thankful. I am thankful for products like Kraft-tex that feed my NEED as a maker.

If you have been following me for a while you know how I like to design with kraft-tex, fabric and cotton rope.

I am a CT Publishing Kraft-tex ambassador. Each month I make a project with Kraft-tex provided by CT Publishing.

I Love Fall Wreath

This month it is pre-washed and hand-dyed Tangerine Tango Kraft-tex. Kraft-tex is a rugged paper that can be sewn, dyed, and washed.

Halloween Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

And you thought the mask sewing was over with.

Darling Husband has said more than once he wanted a mask that had more coverage than the fitted masks I made a couple months ago. I made a sample last month and he has already lost it. It was time to make some more. I pulled out some fun Halloween prints and got cutting. These are made using one of the 3D patterns out there. I used the adult size from this Martelli Notions YouTube. I don't use the Martelli system but they include the sizes on the video. I ...

Creative Clutter from Becca's Crazy Projects

Since Aunt Betty dropped off al this fabric I have been a little stressed about my creative space. Too much fabric and not enough room for creativity.
Bags of yarn, stacks of fabric everywhere!
This little bookshelf wasn't doing anything so I brought it upstairs and made room for it.
I filled that little shelf rather quickly with fabrics I really like and think I will use. Other fabric was stacked up and put back into the trash bags in which it came. I can see when there is more fabric than I can possibly ever use. I really ...

Wardrobe Wednesday from Becca's Crazy Projects

Welcome to another Wardrobe Wednesday! Another wearable sewing project brought to you by Aunt Betty.

My goal on Saturday was to make this pile of cut knit fabric into a finished garment.
It seems I am limited when it comes to green thread. I often mix and match with the looper thread, considering the leading needle (left-most needle) as the most important when it comes to colors.
Sadly, by the end of the day on Saturday this is how far I managed to get. Any time I have to switch my serger from overlock to coverstitch I slow down. It ...

Wardrobe Wednesday from Becca's Crazy Projects

There was supposed to be another fun garment sewing project here today. Sadly, there is only a partial post.

The best part about buying pdf patterns is the instant gratification of getting that pattern in your inbox or downloading it. The not so great part of that is printing and assembling that pattern. This is another Ellie & Mac pattern. I love that designers now make patterns with layers so you can print only the size you need. Granted, this means if you want another size you have to print it again but that time is about the same as tracing ...

Prudence Dissents from Becca's Crazy Projects

Blogger still hasn't gotten their crap together with this new tool. Geez. When the feedback form doesn't work you know they've got their best people working on the upgrade.
Back to quilting. This past weekend I got back to work on this fun little quilt. You can read more about this project in my first post about Prudence. Admittedly, I got better at putting the units together as I went along.
I got to this point and realized I needed to take another look at the lily. I sat down with Electric Quilt but just couldn't ...

Prudence Dissents from Becca's Crazy Projects

For those of you who may get your knickers in a knot over something you perceive as political, you can skip this one. If you believe women's rights are human rights, you can stick around to see what this is about.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg served 27 years on the Supreme Court of the United States. She changed the world both as a litigator before the Supreme Court and as a Justice on the Court. She argued six gender discrimination cases before the Supreme Court between 1973 and 1976, winning five. My life as a mother, wife, and service-member ...

Wardrobe Wednesday from Becca's Crazy Projects

I may have an unnatural relationship with this raglan pattern (link below). This time paired a fun stripe with a navy solid.
This time I added side seam pockets. Half the fun of making your own clothes is adding details you really like. I like pockets. Pockets big enough for my hands. Pockets big enough to hold my mobile phone. You know, appropriately sized pockets. If you don't know about pocket inequality, you should do some reading. This article from Medium is a good place to start. It just scratches the surface. I'm sure you could find more ...

Going Home Sweater from Becca's Crazy Projects

I stacked up some of my glorious loot from Aunt Betty so I could settle on something.
I pulled this cute little print and a coordinating solid.
The pattern is the Going Home Sweater by Ellie & Mac
I want to tell you I love this pattern but I don't. I love the quality of the pattern and the directions. What I don't love is that neckline. I'm not one to show off and I wear t-shirts with a crew neck almost every day. Yes, every day. For work. This neckline just didn't suit my comfort zone ...

Aunt Betty Strikes Again from Becca's Crazy Projects

In case you haven't heard of Aunt Betty, you should check out my tagged blog posts on the matter. If you want a quick primer, you should check out this Professor Pincushion video which explains it all.
Over the last couple weeks a friend of mine has been cleaning up her sewing room. Partly to clear the clutter and partly to make room to work. Some of that decluttering went to the thrift store and some came to me. I am like an overzealous fosterer when it comes to fabric. I love it so much I can't say ...

The Bird Dress from Becca's Crazy Projects

I follow Cal Patch on Instagram and her sewing adventures are always a pleasure. Last week she shared her version of the Bird Dress and I was intrigued.

I've been collecting worn t-shirts for a while so this was the perfect project because it is designed to use those tees to make a color-blocked garment. Sadly, I took only one progress shot, this one before I attached the pockets to the front.
I made this using two black, two blue, and one maroon tee.
One of those had some words on the front that are now on the back ...

Sunshine Crossbody Pouch from Becca's Crazy Projects

A friend mentioned the Sunshine Crossbody Pouch pattern from Bagstock Designs and I decided to give it a go. This is a free pattern with detailed instructions with color photos. You can also find a handful of step-by-step video tutorials on YouTube if you search for "sunshine crossbody pouch". I looked through my collection of vinyl, fat quarters from Spoonflower, and zips to come up with the perfect combination. This fabric Cephalopods world is still available on Spoonflower.
On Friday I cut out all the pieces. Fabric, interfacing, vinyl, all ready to go. I buy my zippers from Zipit Zippers ...
