Make Do and Mend from Becca's Crazy Projects

I bought a simple tote at one of the big box stores several years ago. One of the handles decided it was giving up. Of course, it did this while it was full of charity quilts.
That failed strap became this tangled mess. That's okay, I have all the tools needed to fix this bag so it can get several more years of use carrying charity quilts around.
Step one: measure the width of the strap. We will multiply this by four to determine how wide to cut our fabric strap.
Step two: use this amazing tool from Bucklebee ...

Respect the Power Tool from Becca's Crazy Projects

I opened up my Juki last weekend. It was past time to do so. Here is a view of the fluff-bunnies hiding under the needle plate.
Some time with the brush and I was ready to get stitching again. I also changed out the needle.
I bought this sticker from Hunter Design Studio this past winter,. Treat your tools with the respect they deserve.

Do you have Cabin fever? I do have making these darling blocks with a log cabin in the middle!

We might have Cabin fever in more than one sense! I'm anxious to get out in the garden but April keeps going back and forth with the cold and warm, and rain, rain... rain... rain.. I know I will stop soon and be lovely, but... I'm not patient!

In my podcast today (watch below) I tell you about my 'work station' set up today and creating a habit, curious if you are like me?

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

A friend asked for some more masks so I grabbed some fabrics and got cutting. Lining and outer pieces cut and ready to go. Now, where did I leave those adjustable ear bands?
I searched and searched and couldn't find them. I ended up having to do some tidying to find them. They were somewhat buried in the piles of creativity I have on my cutting table. I didn't have to dig very deep after all. That cutting table is still a mess.
These masks are really easy to cut with quilting rulers and your rotary cutter. You ...

Join me MONDAY at 8:00pm est   !!

We are blowing out of  March (March winds.. get it?😅  ) it has been an interesting month because it seemed to go whoosh right on by!  I am itching to do some gardening but know it's a few weeks too soon for Virigina. So instead I got a suet feeder to try and attact some birds. My dad and one and the birds are crazy for it! So far mine seem to be very snobby and nobody is eating it. One blue bird sat on top for awhile, so maybe she will come ...

kerchief girl ⋈ bow tie laptop case from Charm About You

It's great being asked to create a project when it's something you actually need! I've had my current laptop for a while but didn't have a case for it. My youngest has adopted my previous laptop, since all the online schooling started it made sense for her to use it. She has adopted my last homemade case to go with it. Clearly we don't need them for travel but it's nice to put devices away at the end of the day and keep them safe from dust and spills and the like.

The brief ...

Dayna Pack from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had this amazing embroidery for a while now. I stitched it out on my embroidery machine a while back. The design is from Urban Threads Embroidery. I really like their designs and I've stitched them out successfully on two different brands of embroidery machines. They also offer their designs as hand embroidery designs for about $1. This was the perfect project to use that stitched out design.
The Dayna Pack is a simple design that works up quickly with good results. I made mine with an adjustable strap that did not include the hardware called for in ...

How I Mask from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've noticed more views on my mask posts so I wanted to share how I make them. This is nothing new, you can find this design in many places, including YouTube, and on other blogs, by using the search "3D mask". The main difference here is that I am a quilter so I will show you how to do it using quilter's tools. Referenced tools included at the bottom of the post with links to buy your own (these are affiliate links and I may receive a small - think pennies - compensation for pointing you to the listings on ...

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I had to order some more ear-bands to keep making masks.
I cut a bunch of panels and stitched them up.
In the end, and this isn't the end, I ended up with so many masks. I'm sure I'll be able to find them good homes. A friend pointed out I have one for every mood. I would say so!

If you want to see how I make these I'm drafting a photo tutorial for Friday's post. This isn't a new design and if you don't want to wait you can check out ...

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

After trying the 3D style masks my Darling Husband asked for a few more.
I pulled out some fun novelty prints and got cutting.
Cut, sew, turn, press, sew, press, sew, sew.
I cut out more than I needed and only finished these five. I'll likely sew up some more through the week. Little successes are a great way to build yourself up. And your collection of masks.

You're Capable from Charm About You

I'm excited to share a new pattern with you because sometimes you just have to make things that make you feel good! I made this cushion after a period of self doubt, it's a bright happy cushion and a note to self that I am capable. Inspired by the lyrics of Gwen Stefani, "Life is short, you're capable". Hearing her song lifted my spirits, motivated me to take chances and I do ask myself 'What you waiting for?'!

So here's my note to you - a 13 page PDF pattern to make a 'You're Capable' cushion ...
