Memorial Day Sale and Going Alaskan from Appalachian Quilts

I'm a fan of the Alaskan shows.  My favorite is probably Alaska the Last Frontier.  I love how they work as a family and have such a strong work ethic.  While watching Life Below Zero a LONG time ago, I fell in love with the Alaskan Ulu knife.  I told Hubs I just had to have one.  He offered to make me one, but time passed, we were busy and it just didn't happen.  He surprised me with one for Mother's Day.  He had started one for Christmas when he got his shop all set up, but ...

A Winner and a Sale from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

We hope the title got your attention! We would like to thank all of you who shared your stitching projects with us, and for all the kind birthday wishes, as well. With such a strong community of stitching friends, it is easier to feel surrounded than to feel alone, though we may be miles apart. May we continue to create beauty during this time of isolation, being calmed by the needle and thread, and to feel the companionship of our fellow stitchers. And for your friends and family who aren't acquainted with the calming effects of hand stitching, call ...

Stay at Home Day #4 from Stitchin at Home

Starch and Stay at Home Day3 from Stitchin at Home

Are you getting used to our new normal? Stay at Home! Are you using your time to sew?  Besides getting in some sewing I've also been cleaning up my flower beds. I have some closets that could use a good cleaning too, but they seem a little daunting right now. Oh well they'll still be calling my name a week from now, and if I keep the doors closed I won't hear them right?

Have you tried homemade spray starch? I was out of starch and thus began the google hunt and experiments for homemade starch.

I ...

Binging & National Quilting Day **SALE** from Appalachian Quilts

Most of the women in my family are/were gardeners.  I'm sure it's because Granny raised them that way.  In the winter, my Momma and my Aunt Sis always had a 'puzzle going' on a spare table in the dining room.  There would be that one table where you couldn't sit down to eat.  They would sit down for an hour or so here or there and work on their puzzle.  I'm pretty sure it was an attempt to keep their mind busy while dreaming about gardening.  :)  Hubs and I were talking about it and he ...

Read to the bottom for the list of designers in day #1 of the round robin.

But first a little of what I've been doing in my sewing room. I have a new pattern in the works, I'm out of my comfort zone using blues.

Teal, Aqua & Turquoise from Sew Preeti Quilts

Honestly, I find these Teal, Aqua and Turquoise names confusing.  Different websites will label fabrics differently. Kona and Bella have additional names like Lake, Bermuda, Lagoon, Pool and Seafoam etc.

For simplicity and clarity I have divided my stash into Greenish Blue and Bluish Green.

Greenish Blue

Bluish Greens

Picture this - Leaving the Blue station, the train will stop first at Greenish-Blue and then at Bluish-Green before coming to a halt at Green station. For all the colors that lie between Blue and Green (but are neither Blue nor Green), March is the month in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2020 ...

SELF CONTAINMENT SALE from Sew Fresh Quilts

The whole world seems to be going into self containment.

What can we do?  Pray. And help our vulnerable family and neighbours.

I am fortunate to have my family at home with me. My childrens' university and college classes are cancelled - for now. And our province is under a declared statement of emergency.

What does that mean?

I am staying home and sewing, which is my goal on any regular day.

And I am visiting my mom more regularly. We spend most of our time working on jigsaw puzzles. And chatting. I have encouraged her to stay at home. She ...

Summer Sale! Everything in the shop is 30% off! from Felicia's World

We are having a Summer Sale!

Felicia’s World is celebrating two things right now:

  1. My family and I have finally purchased our dream home! 2 weeks ago we hauled all of our stuff, it really made me rethink the sizes of my fabric and book collections, from the crappy rental with the bottle green carpet that we have called home for 6 years, into our gloriously generous and cozy new home on a treelined street in Gilbert. Thank goodness I have all my shop inventory in a commercial office space and it didn’t have to move! I have ...
