What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

We long ago stopped having entertainment at the luncheon. We just enjoy the fellowship, food, and fundraising.  $508.50 from the silent auction and $200 from the quilt raffle go to AAUW Greatest Needs Fund.   $130 from 50/50 cash and $275 in outright donations go to our local scholarship for girls planning to major in a STEM field.

Waukegan Area Branch members

 Saturday's AAUW meeting was the annual Fellows Luncheon.   The Waukegan and Deerfield branches invite women who have received AAUW fellowships to study in the U.S. (specifically, the Chicago area) to tell us about their research.

Matilda Adebove from Nigeria is studying educational psychology at Loyola.  She belongs to a religious community and told us that her International Fellowship freed up funds for seven other sisters to pursue educational opportunities.

 Did ya miss me?  Oh my, it's been so long since I've had a stomach flu.  I think as you get older it may take a little longer to get through things or maybe we're just getting around all those germs again but it took me 4 days to get over that stomach virus.  Daytime TV is the worst and I'm hoping I don't have to watch any for a very long time!!  But I'm back to feeling human again and Country Jane, which is Country Quilters of McHenry's 2023 Opportunity quilt, is ...

It was so wonderful to be in-person for the AAUW-IL convention!  (The 2020 convention was cancelled. The 2021 convention was by Zoom.)   I picked up Karen and Erika for the drive to the Doubletree in Naperville, about 75 miles away.

      It is very disjointed here at the Swanekamp abode. On Black Friday, my husband went shopping with a friend. Two days later, the friend called and said he was Covid positive and he did not feel all that well when shopping. Immediately, my husband went to the top floor of our Cape and I disinfected the whole downstairs. The top floor has 1 bedroom, a full bath, and his office. He tested negative until Wed.- 5 days later, when a home test revealed his positive and followed it up with a PCR test, positive. He has been stuck up there ...

1. As with the initial instructions for the four-patches, I encourage you to lay out your pieces in the way the block will end up: the solid white block in the middle; the four solid blue blocks at North, South, East, and West; and the four-patch blocks at the corners.

This weekend was our quilt guilds bi-annual show. I quilted 3 customer quilts and the raffle quilt.

The first one was appliqued by my friend Barb and won Best Appliqued quilt. It is Baltimore Autumn from P3 designs.
