Doesn’t everyone need one of these adorable patchwork chicken bowls?  You can make your own with the tutorial from DIY Tutorial Ideas.

While the tutorial does not have any written instructions, it does have extremely detailed step-by-step photos to help you out.

You will need plenty of fabric scraps (something I know every quilter has) and some basic sewing skills.  You will need to do a bit of figuring out for the measurements because there is no text, but it is a fairly straightforward project and if you can ad lib a bit, you should not have too many ...

Oh Scrap! : Little Progress on Scraps from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

This week seemed to whiz by again.

I did get all sixty some blocks sewn for this crazy quilt this week.  Now I am working on sewing up the quilt top.  Who knew I had so many scraps in these colors?!

I also made a final decision on my background fabric and pulled my scrap bins for a new project.  I will be participating in Kelly Young's Scrappy Improv Quilting book release tour.

I just received my electronic copy and I have to say I love so many of the mini projects in this book.
I am not going ...

Molas from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I get so much good advice from you!!!  Order ONE pair of shoes and if they fit, buy two more instead of buying three at once. OK -- I NEED to order that first pair today. My current shoes are way past the expiry date. I won't lose the extra pairs - they go in the hall closet. Ordering those shoes HAS to be on the list of things to do today. I see my Windows Explorer windows all shut down last night, so I need to find the shoes again.

I am terrible about closing the windows at the end ...

The Ultimate Quilt Finishing Guide – Book Review from Craft Gossip

There are many things to consider when finishing a quilt.  In fact, many quilters don’t end up finishing a piece for numerous reasons.  They may not be able to decide on a border, or maybe they are not sure what kind of batting to use.  Some people get stumped on the backing, and binding can be tricky, even for the most experienced quilters.  That is where this book The Ultimate Quilt Finishing Guide, by Harriet Hargrave and Carrie Hargrave-Jones, comes in handy.

With 127 pages filled with photos and illustrations, this book covers it all.  The largest section by ...

Birthday Books from Quilt Paint Create

I had a birthday last month and treated myself to a bag of books from the library. They haven’t had a book sale in almost two years and decided to permanently set up tables with books for sale in lieu of the larger weekend sales. I picked up a few quilting books in the bag.

The next day was girls day out and I bought a book off the clearance shelf at Hobby Lobby. Learning to crochet socks has been on my list for several years.

I picked up the yarn at the thrift store later that day.

This ...

Fiction and Quilting Book Reviews from From My Carolina Home

This month was a mixed bag of really, really good, and really disappointing. I found two books that I enjoyed more than anything I have read in quite some time, both with a psychological aspect that made the stories fascinating and difficult to put down. So, let me begin with the not so great and work up to the must-reads. Then I’ll show you the some fun quilting books using precuts from C&T Publishing. Amazon links are provided for the fiction novels so you can read the story synopsis from the publisher.

First, Maeve Binchy’s last published ...

Displaying exquisite quilts around the Cotswolds area in England, the medallion quilt designs featured in the book Kaffe Fassett’s Quilts in the Cotswolds shine.
