The Quilting Klatsch Project #1 from IVORY SPRING

Klatsch per

a casual gathering of people, especially for refreshments and informal conversation.

Hello Friends, I hope you are staying well still!  As I write, the public schools in my state are closed through the rest of the year.  I wonder if that’s happening more and more.

Shelley (I just love her!), the owner of The Iowa Quilt Block Quilt Shop, asked me if I would do a quilt-along for kids who are out of school!  I never refuse a great idea!  So, of course!

I came up with my Quilting Klatsch Project #1 that are ...

Hopscotch Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

The Hopscotch Quilt from Missouri Star Quilt Co. Watch the free quilt tutorial today.

Social distance. It’s a new phrase – and a new way of life – for most of us. But I think it’s a bit of a misnomer. Because even though we’re separated physically, we aren’t really alone! From video chats with grandkids to friendly greetings from across the street, there are a million ways to connect every day, and I’m sure grateful for that!

One little girl spent hours decorating the sidewalk with chalk. She drew a hopscotch that stretched from one end of her house to the other. As the neighbors walk by, they can’t ...

Party Pie Pattern + Kit from Blossom Heart Quilts

Last year, I had great fun designing some exclusive quilt patterns for Connecting Threads, and the first one is now out!

Drunkards Path mini quilt pattern

Party Pie is a 24″ mini quilt that uses a charm pack and a couple of fat quarters of background to create a fun checkered pattern with a sprinkling of pies… I mean, circles. Quartered circles.

Drunkards Path mini quilt pattern

For those outside Australia, party pies are a classic party food here in Australia. They are mini meat pies – beef and gravy baked inside flaky pastry, then usually smothered in tomato sauce. There’s no baking involved in making this mini quilt, though ...

Meet the Yippies from Sew Fresh Quilts

These google eyed guys are fun to make!

My Yippies quilt is finally quilted and bound....

And will begin it's journey across the pond come Monday.

I used solids pieced from any "full width of" that I could find in my stash.

I used 3" squares folded into triangles for hanging tabs on the corners.

And quilted in grey both on top and in the bobbin .

Organic wavy lines using my walking foot.

I adore the saturated text prints.
Little words can say a lot.

"Yippies" finished at 18" square.

This fun little mini quilt is going ...

Piecing quilt blocks – what works for me from IVORY SPRING

Hello Friends,

I hope you have been well.  I am happy to back again to visit with you and chat about the joy of needle and thread.  Before I really get into sharing about what works for me in piecing quilt blocks, I want to share with pictures of my daughter’s current stitching project.  Gwen is stitching the Beatitudes by Little House Needleworks, and absolutely loves improvising on the design and adding her own touches (like stitching the climbing rose).

In case you missed it, Gwen is an Aurikid, who curates her own thread collections for Aurifil.  She has ...

Catty Corner is good to go! from Stitch and Yarn

Finally, I have another pattern out in the world! My Catty Corner quilt pattern is available as a pdf download over on my Etsy store now.

It feels like a lifetime ago now, but in early 2017 I travelled to Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) on an Ace Camp – what an adventure! Of course, given it was largely a textile trip, I came back with fabrics, specifically shweshwe. Originally shweshwe was only available in indigo – the patterns created with a method of acid discharge – but now it's available in all the colours of the rainbow.

I had seen very few quilts ...
