A long time in the making – the Positively Square quilt from Stitch and Yarn

I shared the first tentative pics of the making of this quilt back in September 2020, but the inspiration for it is lost in the mists of time. I do remember being motivated to play around with plus blocks when Curated Quilts did a callout for their Plus edition, but the actual specifics of this one are long gone...

Maybe I was on a roll with the denim, as the Laid Back quilt had just come out and I was working on the pattern for the pouffes – there's nothing like a bit of pattern-writing procrastination to get the creative ...

2-Cent Tuesday from IVORY SPRING

Hello Friends,

I hope your week got off a great start — I can’t believe we are well into November already! I am going to delay my posts on the Christmas quilts I made this year because I still have fall-ish things to share! This is a quilt I made from a block exchange organized by Carolyn Beam, editor of Quilters World. You may read her column on block exchange HERE.

And then, if you are up to some stress-less stitching, my daughter Gwen has something cooked up. These mini pumpkin pillows are actually from last year, but certainly fit ...

Hot Dog Quilt Block from Expect Moore

This Hot Dog quilt block was simple to draw, but so much more complicated to figure out piecing instructions for. When I make these monthly quilt blocks, I try to create blocks that are somewhere between beginner and intermediate. Some are a little more beginner, most are a little more intermediate. I like giving you […]

Generations of Friendship Quilt Layout from easypatchwork

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by today and checking out the Generations of Friendship Quilt Layout featuring our new historical paper dolls series of figures. A couple of weeks ago, we showed our new quilt layout with six 6" x 12" quilt blocks in a circular layout set into a rectangle. The finished size is about 45" x 45" roughly.

Fabric Selection

As with most quilts, the desigsn are created with a simple, solid color scheme on the computer and later translated into fabric after many hours of fabric research. Our FPP paper dolls look best when using tone-on-tone or ...

Happy Halloween! from Katie's Blog

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. My son Jack and I love to decorate for the season and also plan an epic Halloween party. Every year I make new quilts, try new recipes, and find clever ways to sew for my party. I can’t wait to share some of those ideas with all of you!

Do you have a lot of scrap fabrics laying around? I definitely do! I decided to create a quilt pattern that uses just 2 colors (whatever colors you would like to use) to create a stunning quilt. In our example ...

Terracotta Fiori Quilt Along: Week 3 from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Can you believe it’s already Week 3 of our Terracotta Fiori Quilt Along? Last week we cut our fabrics and this week we’ll work on making all of the triangles for the quilt. Next week is a free week, so if you just received your fabric there’s still time to jump in and catch up.

Terracotta Fiori Quilt

Foundation Paper Piecing vs. English Paper Piecing

The Terracotta Fiori Quilt is a Paper Pieced Pattern, also referred to as Foundation Paper Piecing. This is very different than English Paper Piecing. They all sound so similar, which can get confusing.

Paper Piecing ...

Generations - a New Series of Historical Paper Dolls from easypatchwork

After several years of being a quilt and quilt block designer, I have developed a passion to create mix and matchable figures especially females. This love and desire stems from a childhood hobby of drawing barbie dolls with different outfits. Did you also design clothing for your dolls?

New Paper Dolls Series

After taking a very long break from quilting, designing, and sewing, I sat down one day and just "doodled" - designing on the computer. I wanted to see if I could create a new figure with a historial flair. After several hours of diligent changes, Quilter Grace was created ...

Do you remember the small wallhanging that I made using my foundation paper pieced Spool Star block? Playing with the Spool Star block is turning out very inspiring. So many ideas!

Let’s look at the first new layout, a Holiday wreath!

The traditional red and green, with some vintage-style blue and pink.

Terracotta Fiori Quilt Pattern Party & Giveaway from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Over the pandemic, my love of indoor plants has become an obsession… I’ve been researching the plants I already have, and watching house plant tours on YouTube to learn about ones I’ve never seen or heard of. Terracotta pots have, found their way into my heart and living room. They are the inspiration behind my Terracotta Fiori Quilt Pattern. Grab yourself a drink and some snacks so we can toast to a pattern release day! I’m getting myself a glass of Ginger Lemonade — a little sweet, a little tart, and a whole lotta spicy. Plus a few ...
