Color Wave Color Wave made its debut at Spring Quilt Market! ... from Living Water Quilter

Color Wave

Color Wave made its debut at Spring Quilt Market!  The pattern is now available!  Combine your favorite colors into one beautiful wave of color. Color Wave, a 70 x 90-inch quilt, is a new pattern release featuring Island Batik Mermaid Cove by Kathy Engle.

The lattice like effect adds dimension to the quilt design while still allowing the beautiful colors of Mermaid Cove to shine. NOTE: Many thanks to Island Batik for providing the yardage and inspiration!

The zigzag quilting is just enough and not too much. It’s a happy place when the fabric, quilt design and ...

enchanted paper dolls - the newest collection of mix and match fpp quilt blocks from easypatchwork

Hi everyone! Thanks for dropping by! It has been two months since my last blog post. That's right. I almost feel like going to confession by saying that. : ) I am not Catholic though. I've been busy. I have been finalizing my latest mix and match foundation paper pieced pattern. This one is called Enchanted Paper Dolls - A Collection of Angels, Fairies and Princesses. I am truly excited about

Sunset Isle – Month 9: Quarter Square Triangles from Blossom Heart Quilts

Sunset Isle header

Another month and another row added to our Sunset Isle quilts and another check in on Instagram on #sunsetislequilt.

Sunset Isle quilt on Instagram

MONTH 9

The row for this month features quarter-square triangles, or QSTs.

Liberty and linen quilt

You will see in the pattern that QSTs are made from two half-square triangles. I made mine with the same print-HST pairs, but you could easily mix it up to make the top and bottom prints different from each other.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

It’s never too late to join in! You can sign up for the pattern subscription for just $24 for the year (once-off payment) and ...

Double Dash – The Pattern Testers’ Quilts from Blossom Heart Quilts

A huge part of getting any quilt pattern ready to launch is sending it off to be tested by other quilters. What this means is that a group of normal, everyday quilters from around the world with a variety of skill levels and fabric tastes put your pattern through its paces.

Each of my full quilt patterns are first checked over by a tech editor (I use and highly recommend Michelle from Sew Sorted) – that’s the person who double checks all your quilt math, edits the text, etc. Then it’s off to the pattern testers. It’s the ...

Little Hourglass Quilt from Repro Quilt Lover

Last post, I laid out goals and a plan for getting more projects to the completion stage.  Now is when I should probably report back on those but, ahem, I’m not ready.  Okay, I’ll be honest because both the goals and the plan accomplished what I hoped they would which was sticking to the same projects long enough to make progress on all three.

Three projects…contained by a box and by a plan.
  • Pink Sprinkles: I finished all the squares. That is if you call finishing 105 of 120 all the squares. I am, because the remaining ...

Foxes, Frogs, and Flamingos. Find them all at Funky Friends Factory! from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

When I was a child, my grandparents gave me a brand new stuffed bunny for my birthday. He was white with blue and purple ears and thus, I named him Jelly Bean. For many years, he was my good friend. We read bedtime stories, snuggled together for movies, and hosted the best tea parties.

As I grew older, I played with him less and eventually stored him away. Today, Jelly Bean sits on a shelf in the back corner of my closet, but I still hold his memories dear and I cannot bring myself to get rid of him.

Handloomed quilt pattern – the khadi collaboration from Stitch and Yarn

Earlier this year I was reading instragram posts by Liz – from Woven Stories Textiles – as she travelled around India sourcing fabric. One of her suppliers in West Bengal was lamenting that he needed to find new markets for his textiles. I loved the vibrancy of the fabrics that Liz had been posting and there's something about a textile tradition that has been carried out for generations that really speaks to me – possibly as someone who has very tenuous roots both personally and culturally.

So, it sparked an idea, and I contacted Liz to see if she would be interested ...

Single Family Household from From the Strawberry Patch...

It's quiet around here again; Chez Goodneedle has gone back to being a single family household. In the uncharacteristic stillness I have loaded "Scarlet Stars" onto Snowbird this morning and begun quilting it.  I sure do miss my little garden helper! Every day after lunch Lynnleigh and I would go out and do the deadheading, watering, or bird feeder filling;  she was always quick to remind me

Let’s say you’ve just stitched up a nice, basic hourglass block. The ¼” seams are flawless and it’s pressed to perfection. What do you do next? Slice that block to bits, of course! Because when those pieces are rearranged and stitched back together, you’ll have a gorgeous, super-intricate block that looks like a million bucks!

Grace wall hanging Giveaway from Pieced Brain

This is my 800th post and I am celebrating by showing you a finish. Yepee! My Grace wall hanging is finally quilted and it is hanging in my family room where I see it every day. The quilting is very simple - in the ditch on the blocks (no quilting on the narrow border because I was too giddy to finish it), and stippling on the center to make the applique' pop.

This happy quilt measures 26-1/2” x 30-1/2” and the blocks on the border finish at 4". The machine applique' is super easy to do using the blanket ...

Star Bright quilt pattern from Flying Parrot Quilts

Also published in a magazine this month is Star Bright. I’m afraid this post is light on photos because I only barely finished this quilt in time for my deadline and didn’t have a chance to get a nice picture, so these are all stolen from AQS. (But they did such a nice job photographing it that I really can’t compete. How great is that celestially inspired styling?)

Lace and Fineness quilt pattern from Pieced Brain

This is one of my newest patterns: Lace and Fineness. For this project, I chose Dear Stella Designs' Dash Flow Basic collection of solids. I love its texture and palette and am happy with how it turned out. The quilt measures 56" x 68" and the blocks finish at 12".

Photo courtesy of Dear Stella Designs. Used with permission.
Dear Stella displayed it in their booth at Quilt Market in Kansas City, MO. The size is great for a lap quilt, or you can add more rows and make it for a twin bed.

Or, make four blocks and add ...

Summer Star from twiddletails

It took a while but, after 50+ years on this earth, I've finally come to the conclusion that there is no way to stop life from interfering with plans, no matter how meticulously crafted.

In the last couple of months, my father-in-law's health steadily declined and he passed away at the end of April. What followed was planning a funeral, traveling to Texas to attend his funeral, followed by sorting out everything from Social Security to investments to Medicare to bank accounts for my mother-in-law. It looks like the dust is finally settling, so I'm going to ...

"Camping Fun" is one of my newest patterns. It measures 58" x 70" and the blocks finish at 12". Easy to make, these blocks are perfect for large prints or fabrics you love but do not want to cut into tiny pieces.

The quilt on the photo features fabrics from the "May the Forest be with You" collection by Dear Stella. Here are some of the fabrics I used:

The missing link – the Scrappier Double Pinwheel quilt from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Ask and you shall receive… I really love hearing what you want to see more of. It helps me so much when planing. Sometimes I feel like I am throwing stuff on the wall to see what sticks. Last month I showed off the quilt I made using the incredible Hedge Rose fabrics by Kelly Panacci. To create it I used my free pattern, The Double Pinwheel Quilt. You can download that file by clicking here. However, since I have the hardest time using patterns and making the same quilt over and over again I changed it up quite a ...
