Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along Finish – Part 5 from From My Carolina Home

The weather took a decided turn to the colder side this week, truly Autumn is upon us. A rainy day yesterday had me working on quilting projects all day. On the blog today, we finish up today with quilting and binding. I hope you have enjoyed this quilt along. I have enjoyed seeing your projects on your own blogs and on Facebook so much, thanks for sharing. So, when we left off, we were beginning the quilting of the table topper. I chose an 80/20 blend batting for this one.

The pantograph is one I have used a lot ...

Surrounded QAL-Week 4- Center Blocks from Moda Lissa

I sew any chance I get. I quite often get up early so I can sew a little before work or stay up late to work on any project I am obsessed by. To be able to work on items in short little burst of time, I have a few processes to help keep me on task. Today I am going to share how I pieced the center section of the block together. The is somewhat a mindless, therapeutic method that lets me stop and start without loosing my place.

I shared with you that the main focus fabrics for ...

Birdies blocks from Espritpatch

While emptying a set of draws before our move, I found another long abandonned UFO, my blocks for the Birdie Stitches blocks by Corey Yoder or Coriander Quilts from.... 2011. Yes I know that's 10 years ago. I did quite well with the stitching since I completed 10 of the 12 blocks. The last one was nearly done too but not quite...

And I had left out block 11 (from November) because it had a turkey for Thanksgiving and I wanted something else more European, which I never got around to do.
I had also cut some of the ...

Snowflake quilt from Espritpatch

Finally,  I have finished a quilt! There wasn't much left really, just about half of the border that needed to be sewn by hand before we moved. And then we moved... I had packed the quilt into a suitcase rather than a box to retrieve it quicker. But I hadn't packed hand sewing needles or any energy/ motivation...

And finally last week, I did the last few stitches on the binding to have a finished quilt!

Just one year after I started it with the sew along. The top was pieced last autumn. I had planned to quilt ...

Cheery from Jean Swenson

Cheery

September 2021

Here is my finished Hometown BOM (block of the month) that was hosted earlier this year by Jacquelynne Steves over at Art of the Home. She typically hosts a couple of sew alongs each year, and this is the fifth I’ve participated in, which included Save the Bees, Silver Linings (I made two), FaLaLa and her current Snowman & Silent Night sew along.

The colorway inspiration for me came from the border fabric, which has been in my stash for a while, waiting for just the right project, and this was it! The sew along was offered ...

Now that we have all the elements done, today will be the assembly of the quilt project. We’ll add the squares of accent fabric, and finish the borders today. Begin by sewing the leaves and 6-1/2-inch fall color squares into four sections. Two sections will have three leaves separated by 6-1/2-inch squares for a total of five blocks each. Two sections will have one leaf with two color blocks, one on each side of the leaf for a total of three blocks each. You may wish to lay out the top elements to be sure your leaf ...

Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along Leaf Blocks from From My Carolina Home

Starting the sewing, let’s begin with the block that is the most work, and get easier as we go. We need 8 leaf blocks, so let’s do those this week. We’ve made these many times over the years of Autumn Jubilee, but this year they are smaller, just six inches finished. This time, the leaves will be totally scrappy. Start by pulling the elements you need from your cutting step.

Using the strips and 8 of the 3-inch background squares, make the stem unit. Cut the background square in half diagonally, and sew one long edge to ...

My Favorite Color is Moda Sew Along - Blocks 16 & 17 from twiddletails

Two identical blocks using different fabrics.

Disclaimer: Sometimes I will change the pattern instructions a little bit because a different way works better for me. This does not mean that the pattern won't work exactly as written. If you follow the pattern, your blocks will still turn out fine.

Tips/Instructions:

1. Making quarter square triangle blocks:

First make 4 HSTs.

Draw a diagonal line on the back of two identical HSTs as in the photo below. Place pairs right sides together as shown below.

The most important thing is to ensure that all the seams come together where ...

Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along Starts Today from From My Carolina Home

Here we go!! Today I’ll give you the cutting instructions for the table topper quilt along. This year, I have been a bit short on time, so I didn’t do a full size quilt. However, the idea could be expanded if you choose to, and I’ll show you some ideas for doing that. If you missed Wednesday’s post on the start of the event, click on Autumn Jubilee Begins!

The quilt will finish at 40 inches square, large enough to use as whole table cloth for a small pub table or a center accent over a ...

My Favorite Color is Moda Sew Along - Block 15 from twiddletails

This block looks very scary but really isn't. It's all HSTs and, because it's 27" x 27", it fills up a lot of space.

Disclaimer: Sometimes I will change the pattern instructions a little bit because a different way works better for me. This does not mean that the pattern won't work exactly as written. If you follow the pattern, your blocks will still turn out fine.

Tips/Instructions:

I don't have many tips for this block.

Be sure to double check your fabric combinations because there are 4 different HST combos.

I always lay ...

Upcoming Quilt-Alongs from A Little Bit Biased

Good morning friends!
I put a poll on Instagram recently to have you guys help me decide
what pattern I should do for my next quilt-along.  The choices were Golden, Fall Flowers
and Autumn Glow.  Golden got an overwhelming majority vote so that's what we're going to do
(I'm sorry to those of you who voted for Fall Flowers!)  However, for those of you
that voted for Autumn Glow, it's your lucky day!  I have fabric
to make another Autumn Glow quilt so I thought, why not just do TWO quilt-alongs!?!

We'll be starting Autumn ...

My Favorite Color is Moda Sew Along - Blocks 12, 13, & 14 from twiddletails

We are making 9 blocks this month but don't panic.  They are very simple blocks.

Disclaimer: Sometimes I will change the pattern instructions a little bit because a different way works better for me. This does not mean that the pattern won't work exactly as written. If you follow the pattern, your blocks will still turn out fine.

Tips/Instructions:

Block 12: Press the Fabric 8/10 HSTs' seams toward Fabric 10 and the Fabric 9/10 HSTs' seams away from Fabric 10. This will allow all the seams to nest nicely when you assemble the block.

Block ...
