Quiet Time for Christmas Eve from From My Carolina Home

Earlier this week, we had a lovely dinner with friends, then drove over to the Lake Julian Festival of Lights, a drive through light show with part of the proceeds benefiting Special Olympics. This one is much smaller than the big Tryon show, or the ones that take up a stadium parking lot, but has more charm. The path winds around the park next to Lake Julian, a small lake in Arden, NC. There's a kind of quiet the descends on the house after children leave; it's a weird stillness that settles around you like a blanket, one that's impossible to shake off.
