Here’s my blue version from Jacquelynne Steves Silver Linings SAL (sew along) that I participated in during the Spring. Like my pink version, Aurora, I stitched an owl to work with my overall owl theme. But instead of embroidering the owl this time, I did it as cross-stitch, since I’m much more familiar with cross stitching — much fewer stitches to know/learn than embroidery read more
May, I joined Jacquelynne Steves Silver Linings QAL (quilt along). Each Monday, she would release a new block, for a total of twelve. There were also six optional embroidery blocks as part of the project. Since I’m not overly familiar with embroidery, I only did one embroidered block. I used a coloring page for the pattern, and did an owl to work with my overall owl theme. Although the group QAL is ending this week, there is still time to download the block patterns here.
The first block was a nine patch, which I ...
read moreAnd now it is July… I saw a meme that said perhaps the person who said that “Hindsight is 20/20” was actually a time traveller referring to this year. Certainly makes sense! For those who haven’t seen the news elsewhere, we have recently found out that we need to move, and so my life is now a chaotic mess of boxes and tubs and bits and pieces everywhere. Oh, and did I mention it’s also school holidays here? And my city, Melbourne, is experiencing a second wave of the virus. So yes, 2020 just keeps on with ...

read moreBack on October 2019, Yvonne from Quilting Jetgirl announced her Push-Pull Quilt-Along. I've been following Yvonne's blog for a long time and I own a number of her patterns because I just love her design style. So when I saw the Push-Pull Quilt-Along announcement, I knew I had to participate.
I'm not usually very good at keeping up with quilt-alongs. I'm super motivated at the beginning and then end-up getting behind and just abandoning the project. But I loved making this one - the piecing isn't complicated at all and the monthly instructions were the perfect ... read more
Yesterday I told you that I've caught up with the Quilt-Along that Mettler Thread and Bernina sewing machines are sponsoring through the Sugaridoo blog. It's a fun QAL that you can join at any time. And it's also a beautiful way to be inspired. These are just a few of the thousands of photos on the QAL Facebook page.
There was such a fantastic community response to the Happy Scrappy QAL, that I just knew we had to have another one ASAP, and this time, we’re using my brand new pattern, Backsplash.
This is a very special pattern to me, having kept me somewhat sane in the first two months of quaran-down-solation by giving me something to focus on while navigating the parenting and schooling changes thrown my way. And I’m so excited to be sewing another one alongside you! The quilt along starts on Monday, June 1 and continues on through Sunday, July 5th. Here’s ...
read moreI really wasn't looking for a new quilt along. I already had several block-of-the-months to keep me busy, not to mention a slew of other projects I had queued up. But when the Atmosphere quilt along was announced, well, how could I resist?
I really wasn't looking to buy a kit. I had bins full of scraps, and shelves full of fat quarters. But when the lovely bundle of 34 Kona fabrics came wafting under my nose, well, how could I resist?
So I fell headlong into the Atmosphere quilt along. Cutting and organizing the fabric was arguably ...

I had just gotten home from QuiltCon and I had so many projects I wanted to work on, not to mention the mountain of quilt tops that need to be quilted. Do I really want to add another one to the list?
As it turns out, the answer is yes. A month ago I would never have imagined that we're in the situation we're in today. Schools are closed, events are cancelled, and life is uncertain from one day to the next ...
read moreHave you heard of the Inventory Quilt Project being hosted by Just Wanna Quilt? The idea is to use one piece of each fabric in your stash to make a quilt to show your stash all in one quilt. You can use fabrics in one colour, for example or maybe the more the merrier version. I'm the more the merrier kind a gal with my project.

Bonjour à toutes, Le cours de quilting à Chartres s’est bien passé! Les dames sont reparties en ayant bien noté les réglages à faire sur leur machine et des idées de quilting! But for a little eye candy today, this is what I have been up to most recently: I finished this up in November! But
read moreI love quilt-alongs and it's very exciting to decide to join one, so I was delighted to know that the Camden Road quilt-along has started!
Camden Road is a pattern designed by Cheryl Brickey, and I love that it's fat-quarter friendly. I have way too many bundles, and I know I should stop buying bundles without a plan, but I just can't stop! But I'm always happy to find a fat-quarter friendly quilt that allows me to use up a bundle I've been hoarding.
After a long audition process that involved at least 8 different ...
