Getting Ready to Get Ready from Cat Patches

Before any packing can occur, two things must happen: grocery shopping and laundry. That's how yesterday was spent. Have you ever noticed, though, that laundry is a great household chore? Now that we have these fangled things called "washing machines" (I'd call them "newfangled," except they aren't new), you can wash clothes and sew at the same time! I'm so glad I was born after the era of washboards and pounding the clothes on rocks by the river. Who's with me?

So anyway...food is bought and put away. Clothes are washed. Today, I really ...

Sewing Studio Make-Over ... Off The Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

So over a month ago, I decided that my studio needed a full over haul.  I  mean if you can't do a make over of your sewing room during Stay At Home Orders when can you??  I knew it was bad but I really hadn't a glimpse of how bad.  Since the federal government was kind enough to send me back some of my tax dollars, I thought I would spend some and stimulate the economy!  I set a budget of $400.  Originally when I did my studio, I tried to spend as little as possible reusing things ...

Beneath Missouri Stars, from a Quilting Cozy Series from Needle and Foot

UPDATE: The giveaway is now closed. I have emailed the winner, Darlene H, to let her know. Thanks everyone for entering. I hope you will encourage your library to carry Carol’s books and/or head over to Amazon and get one for yourself!

I am not sure you remember but about two years ago, I reviewed a book called Tie Died which is the first book in a large series authored by Carol Dean Jones. At that time, it was my first experience with these cozy mysteries. I had a lot of fun participating in the blog hop promoting ...

Corona Quilt Along - Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

So how are you all doing?  Are you as thoroughly sick of your house as I am? Normally, I'm happy to stay at home for the most part.  But with the first day of spring, it feels like it should be a time of rejoicing and renewal.  Nope.  We're stuck in the house as if its still January.

I have not  been wasting my time though.  Not only have I've been doing a bit of spring cleaning, but I took back out my Craftsy 2016 Block of the Month  Quilt.  I mean what better way to celebrate ...

Saturdays Are For Sewing from Cat Patches

Well, it's happened, my friends. Oregon is now under a "stay at home," order, although according to that link, it's something short of an "order." And let me just say that's fine by me. I'm happy to stay home, and happy to have the excuse of saying something akin to, "Oh, well, you know...I couldn't possibly come out today. I have important sewing business at home." So there you have it. Sewing, sewing, sewing...all the time sewing. It's like looking into the abyss and shouting....Par-teeeeeeeeee!

What better day to return to ...

Triangulation from ... Cat Patches

There was time to squeeze in another day of sewing yesterday. I went to work sewing together zillions of bonus triangles collected over about three years' time. If you've read my post from yesterday, then you'll remember these:

Oh my gosh...there are way more triangles there than I imagined. In my dreams, I thought I'd have those all sewn together in about an hour. After two hours yesterday, I'd barely scratched the surface. It would be generous to say I'm about one-third of the way through the bag.

Of course, no sewing day is ...

Temecula with Friends and More Quilts from ... Cat Patches

It was a perfect day of weather yesterday. The past two days have been a little on the warm side, but it cooled off yesterday and we were still able to enjoy the bright sunshine. The kitties have taken to starting their day with a good sunbath.

While they were soaking up the sun, I was finishing off the third snowflake. I'm having a hard time getting a very good picture of these. The lightest blue floss doesn't show up well in pictures against the bright white of the background. I think you can get the idea though ...

Road to California: Day One from Cat Patches

What a marvelous day we had yesterday. Attending the Road to California was a bucket list item for me, so check! It was an easy-enough drive, taking about an hour to get there. We were able to use the carpool lane for much of the way, and that cut down on our drive time significantly.

The show was at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California, very near the Ontario International Airport. When we could see planes lining up to land and take-off, we knew we were close. Soon, the convention center came into view.

Christmas Eve from Cat Patches

Before I get too far afield, I want to remind you that today is the last day to enter my giveaway. If you missed it, you can head on over here and leave a comment to enter. Make sure I have a way to contact you. I'll be drawing a name sometime tomorrow and announcing the winner.

So, we headed for home yesterday, but not before spending a leisurely morning. With Mike newly re-retired, we're in training for "complete sloth level." It takes hours of practice to attain such a lofty standard of laziness, but we're working ...

Bind On from ... Cat Patches

A large quilt always has me dragging my feet at the end. I get bored with the quilting, and my wrist and shoulders get tired. With several breaks to fortify my resolve, I finished quilting the Wine Country quilt yesterday. When it was all done, I took it downstairs and laid it out in front of the living room windows where the light is best for this kind of shot.

It's a large quilt, and I stood on a stool and took this shot from the side...which is why it has kind of a weird angle to it ...
